Great work!!! I'd call that one a heartbreaker! A car that you know is extremely desirable, but uncared for and left to die

1966 Ford Galaxie 7L kit?
JTalmage replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Whoops... forgot to do this yesterday. If I can find the time today I'll see what I can do. -
Do you have kits that you avoid building?
JTalmage replied to JTalmage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I started on my '94 Camaro Z/28 the other night. I was avoiding it mostly because it was a chevy, and it was a newer car. I got the engine together and I'm beginning to enjoy it. LOTS of filing and sanding on the parts thought due to misalignment and flash -
1966 Ford Galaxie 7L kit?
JTalmage replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have this kit. I can post pictures of whats inside the box when I get home. It's a pretty unrealistic chassis, almost a promo/curbside. It's an old kit thats been reissued from time to time. Nothing to write home about. -

I'm the same way. I see something neat, and instantly the gears start turning and I think of some cool way to build it, then next thing you know I'm looking for resin parts, or buying new paint colors, then I mock it up, put it back in the box, and go A.D.D. on another kit lol -

I'm just dragging my feet on them because I dont like them as much as other kits. Doesnt mean I'm not going to do as good of a job on them. I actually spend probably 30mins or so last night cleaning off flashing and cleaning up parts. Im just really excited to get to my hot rods that ive collected, and the roadkill cars I have ideas for that some of the kits I have, I just dont feel excited about. idk, just a thought. I agree though, its not fun if you have to force yourself. But, I put on some Rockford Files or Magnum P.I. on Netflix and start building and it doesnt seem as bad. I'll post pictures when I'm done with it. -

I guess enthusiasm isn't really the word I was looking for. But the way I figure is if I get these kits built and out of the way then I won't have to keep pushing them to the back of the stash every time their number comes up. Only to put them off again. -

Tastes and interests change. I'm not one to use a whole kit just for a few parts. So I actually have reorganized my stash of kits to put the ones I'm least interested in first, to give me a boost of enthusiasm to build so I can get to the ones I'm looking forward to building. -
Just a random thought. Do you have those kits or group of kits that you can't remember when or where you got them or why in the world you even have them in the first place, and you keep pushing them to the back of the stash in order to avoid building them?? I find myself in that predicament now. I keep getting awesome kits that I'm excited to build and I keep telling myself I really need to finish these kits I don't really care for. My current kit I am loathing to build is AMT'S 94 Camaro z/28

What did you see on the road today?

Restored original AMT '66 Mercury Cyclone 390 GT
JTalmage replied to S. Svendsen's topic in Model Cars
Looks really great! I think I have that same kit in the closet unbuilt... one day.. -
If I had the time, the money, the space, and a time machine.. I'd do the same thing. I love driving cars, but some of them I want just... to have. I have 5 vehicles currently myself. I had 6 but needed money and sold one. I just like having as many as possible even If I never do anything with them. I just wish I could put them all in doors.

Roadkill's '68 Dodge Charger "General Mayhem"
JTalmage replied to JTalmage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I got home yesterday and the rust was very dark, and not rusty looking, more of just a brown, and rather wet/glossy looking. I think my solution has gone bad because I've had this problem before. This happens when you let a friend use your model "kit" with all of your paint and tricks, and he uses the same brush without cleaning it first! -
I kept seeing this mentioned, but never found it! I would like to join the party... as soon as my Charger is done! Dont have room on the bench for two

Cracks me up, Robin is upside down in the Jeep in the picture haha -
Got a little more done last night on general mayhem... painted the chassis, interior tub, axle and leaf springs, firewall, core support, bottom of hood, hood scoop, and grille with the iron surfacer, and then let them dry for a few hours. Went back and covered them all with the rust solution. Bagged em, and will check em tonight when I get home.

I always sorta wanted to build this one, but I just felt it was too gawdy of a car for my tastes compared to others on my shelf. lol... still kinda want one
