  1. Bumping this one too so I can find it later when I get home...
  2. Bumping this so I can find it easier later when I get home...
  3. That is a thing of beauty!!!
  4. I mocked it up at one time, and it was just ok. I dont expect too much from a snap kit. I just wanted an oddball '74 Barracuda in my sea of 70 Challengers/71 Cudas.
  5. I would love to see how the Datsun turns out. I almost bought that kit yesterday! I myself picked up the new Revell '67 Camaro. I also bought 2 different packs of evergreen (one of these days I'm going to make a scratchbuilt hot rod frame darn it!) and two bottles of testors paint.
  6. Thanks! I'm going to keep this one simple. If I had a second kit, and a revell cuda to chop up, I would totally do that. I seen your project. It looks pretty exciting! I found this on the web... http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?manuf=Chrysler&model=Plymouth&year=1974&con=ymo&rows=50 I think I'm falling in love with Avocado gold, or Aztec gold. Probably Aztec gold. I'd like to see it on a 1:1 car though I'm thinking... Aztec gold with white stripes and white interior... mmmm.... Model Masters bronze looks pretty close to aztec gold on a plymouth. I'd probably have to prime it with a dark color to tone it down a bit.
  7. Starting a thread for this one, mostly because I am up in the air on a color for this kit! Since this one is sans drivetrain detail and underhood, I'm hoping to put a little more detail in the body and chassis. I never was one for snaptite's but I always loved cuda's. So, what color do you all think I should paint this car? Since it's not got the radical shaker hood or any other type of scoop, I'm thinking a nice subtle base model car with an interesting or obscure paint color (but something readily available from a rattle can) and adding either the black or white side stripes. I'm leaning toward white side stripes myself, with maybe a green metallic color and tan interior?
  8. YES! LOL I wanted to, but I was sooo close. I forgot to snap pictures of the underhood. I did a low-detail engine bay. I just wanted it done. I'm happy with it over all though. I'll snap pics tonight.
  9. This was a quick build. So quick I forgot to take progress pictures! Anyway, this kit was chosen to be built because I am building all of my kits that I have low interest in, in order to accelerate my building, and get to the kits that I'm more excited to build. I sprayed the car in Model Masters gray metallic. Cool color. I bought it for another build, but couldnt find a color that I thought would look good on this car besides a silver. I would also like to say that this kit fit together like garbage. I was contemplating trashing it about 3/4 of the way thru. From the moment I started putting the interior together, nothing fit right. I had to shave down the sides of the back seat. I had to clearance the interior a little so the body would set down over it on the back properly. The front suspension went together blindly, which, I think I have it together correctly... Not really happy with it. Front bumper doesnt go all the way on, and its because I cant bring the body all the way forward due to the interior fitment. And the most amusing thing I dont like about this kit.... two left hand exhaust tips.... or right hand depending on how you look at it. Hood also fits terribly. I had to bend it to get it to fit sort of good. I built this kit quickly, and sort of low detail, but I was not going into it w/ my full detail in mind. Plus, the worse it went together, the quicker I wanted it done. I wouldnt build this kit again if I was paid.
  10. I got carried away and didnt take pictures! I was soo mad at myself for not snapping any pictures! I got caught up in watching Magnum P.I. and I forgot. Lately I turn on netflix and just start gluing stuff together... seems to work, but I forget to do anything else!
  11. Well.. its done... Here's the final picture of the paint repair before I put it under glass.
  12. I just picked this kit up last night on impulse. I had no intention to, but did. I'm hoping to pop the top on it tonight.
  13. Good to see you back at another awesome project! Loved the hot rod garage!!
  14. Wow. Love the bubbletop. I've never seen that car before. I'm already in love with it. And I'm a diehard Ford fanatic.
  15. I put the General back in the box for a while. Still havent got my parts from another member on here. I'll either be retiring it from this competition if I dont get the parts soon and looking for a new vehicle to take its place, or... I dont know yet.
  16. I love the smell of engines. The smell of grease/oil/gasoline all together. I miss working at various auto parts stores, whether they had a shop or not, and delivering auto parts to shops. All the smells of the different shops like if it was a trans shop or a general repair shop. Dunno why I ever got in to IT. Did a PC move for a company recently that converts diesel engines into fire extinguishers. Yes. They use the engines as to power the pumps for office buildings and stuff like that. They also do repairs on diesel trucks, in-house dyno, the whole nine yards. I didnt want to leave it smelled soo good in there.
  17. Thats beautiful. Love the gold on gold.
  18. Wait... its not real? holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH...
  19. I'm waiting on parts still for my '68 Charger for the Cannonball build, so instead of staring at it on the bench w/ nothing to do, I decided to start on AMT's 94 Camaro that I've had in my closet for probably 10 years. I got it as a gift from a friend... I'm not a chevy guy so I just never had the desire to build it and it always got pushed to the back of the stack. Well, I had a grand idea to move the misfit kits to the front, to encourage me to get them built. So, I started with this one first since it was the kit I least wanted to build! So just because I dont particularly care for Chevrolet's or Camaro's.. or this kit, didnt mean I wasnt going try to make it nice, but it wasnt a project I set out intending to make a showstopper out of either. I did spend about an hour cleaning and pruning all the flash off of the parts.. whew.. talk about a lot. Took quite a bit of filing and sanding to get the hood to fit right. Not 100% happy with it but there's nothing more I can do with it without making it look worse. Here's a few pics of the engine. Added a little wash here and there to make some depth. mocked up the body w/ the nose and hood after trimming. It'll do. Sprayed it with model masters silver gray metallic with flash without flash I painted a little too late in the evening and got a bug on the quarter panel! I'll be wetsanding that and respraying it probably tomorrow since its raining. Everything else is turning out ok so far. I sprayed the chassis w/ testors gray primer, then fogged a little silver on it for an overspray look. Bumpers still need the ends painted but I was in a hurry to get it out of the humidity and away from the bugs, so not everything is finished in this picture. Going to fix the spot on the body, detail the details, and spray testors wet look on it, and try to polish it (never done that w/ a model before)
  20. Aluminum slots for the win!!
  21. Cant remember. I thought he said it was a 91. Dont quote me on that. I know its original minus exhaust, and a couple small touch ups. freaking clean car though.
  22. Idk... my friend has an all original 75,000 mile Calypso green coupe with black trim on the sides. The quarter window trim is even still mint!
  23. Go with the black side trim! Really breaks this car up and would make it look a little more realistic in my opinion.
  24. I've actually bought stuff off of Top Rank Records. he combined shipping, and I got them quick. Because when you make a deal with someone on here for parts, and havent gotten them yet 6 months later, you tend to get desperate.
  25. I like the idea! needs taller tires though. But other than that, I love it!
