  1. I have a 24' x 24' man cave. It's pretty much a hobby shop with no cash register.
  2. The F800 is going on the Ford Race Hauler. It seamed like a perfect match. The 60 Chevys are going to be part of a 4 way build. I want to build each truck on the 1960 C70 brochure. A mixer, a wrecker, a dumper, and a tractor trailer. They are my favorite year model of Chevy truck, although a 58 is a close 2nd.
  3. Excellent work Jarda. This is off to a great start.
  4. Here's some kits I've pulled in the past few weeks And some resin Frontier resins 1960 Ford F800 crew cab and Spaulding Pete 367 hood
  5. The best way to keep all of this from breaking while your working with it is to put thin strips of styrene lapping the joints on the backside. It really strengthens it up. Nice work so far. The cab looks great.
  6. Tonight I added "welds" to the drum to replace the flat bar lap welds that were moulded on. I used .060 half round styrene, which scales out to a little big but it'll be ok. I also have done more work on the rear drum cradle.
  7. What did the 3feet in the middle look like? Was it a tunnel? The second sleeper must have been for the guys wife.
  8. Nice kits Mike. I wish more was available in 1/16. A truck that size can really be detailed to the max.
  9. Thanks Jeff and Gator. The mixer drive is not 100% accurate. I had no measurements to work from so I scaled one in a photo. It looks good enough to me. I think it was just enough to bring the old Rex into the modern age. I got some more work into tonight. The Cummins is nearly complete, and I logged in more work on the mixer chassis. I should have more pics up tomorrow.
  10. Excellent score. Im surprised there are still any left
  11. Thanks Dennis. Its been fun and easy so far
  12. Absolutely amazing. This level of detail is very inspiring.
  13. One more update for tonight. I mounted the battery box, fuel tank from Can Do wrecker, made mounts for water tank, and mounted water tank.
  14. Moving along on the Pete mixer, I ground down all of the weld reinforcements along the drum. I'm going for a modern smooth drum with light weld detail. I also ground off the ribs on the fenders, and spent a few hours sanding each smooth. I also made a new uncle spinney dervish on the lathe out of gray PVC rod. I just need to add bolt detail, a tank, and lines.
  15. So they wedged a V-12 under that needle nose? Great subject matter. I'm looking forward to the build.
  16. Sometimes a little man handlin is necessary to get it right.
  17. Wow, that is terrible. Resin casting is not easy, but I'm assuming this clown never tried it before taking peoples money.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going for the tight wheelbase with the water tank mounted on the driver side frame. The kit water tank mounts are going to be replaced. I like the configuration of the 357 mixers, but don't really want to get into modifying the hood. The standard 378 mixer chassis looks too long to me. I don't like the empty space between the cab and the drum. I'm hoping to get this one knocked out fairly quickly without to much scratchbuilding, while I'm working on the Autocar and the Pete 359. It was good to get a few trucks finished, and I want to knock out one more before I'm back on the long term projects.
  19. Thanks guys. There will be some scratchbuilt parts to update the mix unit. Its a little out of date(and underdetailed) for a truck this new. Im back and forth on whether to make this fancy like a Peterbilt mixer brochure truck, with metallic paint and chrome rims, or if I should go plain all white with a black frame?
