  1. What toy did the hood come from?
  2. I decided to temporarily go in a different direction with the engine. Due to requests to cast the engine, I acquired some manuals and info on the H model Cummins to build a more accurate version. I don't want the engine to slow down the build, so I decided to build a END-673 for it. Using the engine from the DM600 kit, I'm backdating it to a non turbo model. This motor actually works better with the build for me. I started modifying the intake and exhaust manifolds. Also, I'm contemplating putting a vertical straight stack on this truck. It wouldn't have been original, but I may try it. Any input is appreciated.
  3. I think if the build is well planned out, it can be executed in 90 days. I already know what Im doing, and it wont be anything scratch built. I have enough of those long term projects. And Clayton, if Anthony wants to build a chopped, stretched, snap kit then I say we let him. In all seriousness, I think a good rule would be no snap kits. That is in no way any kind of build challenge.
  4. Not much. The rear fenders and tailgate are primed and sanded. I had to strip the grill shell, which dissolved the glue, causing me to loose one of the grab handles. I need to rebuild all of that, wire and plumb the engine, some paint touch up, and clear the whole rig. I may actually finish one this year. Ill post pics later.
  5. Revell probably keeps half of what they make and put them on ebay after they cut production. Theyre the guys selling them for $300. not to be a conspiracy theorist...
  6. Thanks Anthony. That water manifold had me confused.
  7. I would say for it to be a true "build off" it would have to be a fresh kit. This is really going to be using the honor system. Someone could just use early pics of a build that they already started, but there's no fun in cheating. I'm not much for competing, but having a deadline helps get things done.
  8. Thank you Sean, that's what I needed.
  9. Which issue(box art) of the KW COE had the torsion bar suspension? What I need is the instruction sheet for the engine in this kit. There's a part that I'm not familiar with. I have a dilapidated built up that I'm stealing the engine from. I just want to clarify the engine assembly. If someone can post just the engine instructions, that would be awesome.
  10. Excellent work. This is a great build.
  11. We'll, I bit the bullet and moved the front axle forward on the trailer. I need to replace the leaf spring. I'm happy with this spacing.
  12. Well, my Hobby Lobby got the DM600 kits in. For $24 out the door, it's a great donor for my stash of Mack resin cabs. I will have to scoop up about 10 of these.
  13. It laid on nice and smooth. I put two coats. I have no complaints.
  14. Thanks Clayton, Tim, and Gator. As far as the tag axle, Im going for an old school 70's West Coast look. Nothing to heavy, just a local gravel hauler. I was considering a lift axle on the trailer, but the tandem just looks better on this one. The axles look a little too close together. I may move the front axle up a little.
  15. Heres a shot of the hinges. Heres another one Im working on. These hinges are from the Italeri WS brown issue.
  16. Its paint and decal. I found a good match to the off white decal color. I painted the body this color first. Then clear, then traced the arrow decals, then masked, then painted green. The gold pinstriping is from my LHS.
  17. Wow. That is just amazing. Incredible work Alain.
  18. Keep in mind that the surviving truck was made to look like the original. It was only used to film extra scenes after the main truck was wrecked. This is when the TV movie was stretched into a feature film. It was probably quickly made to match. The trucks where several years apart in body style also. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's been restored by the current owner, so it's whatever color they wanted. But if you watch the movie in HD when the sun is shining on the rig, it's looks gold over brown.
  19. The truck looks gold to me, with purple fenders and black 5 hole wheels. If memory serves the frame was body color.
  20. In progress The remnants of the Duel truck
