  1. And guys, for what its worth beware buying this kit on ebay. I read on Truck Model World where guys got ripped off with kits that when recieved. werent in the right boxes, and had poorly made resin knock offs of the kit specific parts.
  2. Im not big on European trucks, but something about that new Scania looks cool. Im not going to try to get one of the limited editions, mainly because I blew my kit allowance on dump trailers. If a guy was going to try to kitbash one of these together using existing Italeri kits, where would he start? I know nothing about Euro trucks, so hopefully someone here knows. Is the Scania R730 single axle truck a good starting point, then add twin steer and 2nd drive axle? I know the kit comes with a bunch of cool PE stuff and custom parts. Whats the big box behind the cab with the web address on it?
  3. Im excited to watch this. This will be a great build. The wheel looks great.
  4. I have several K123s with the tortion bar suspension. I agree, they should be K125s. Im not sure when the change was made to the walking beams. As far as I can tell there was nothing box art related to tell the difference.
  5. Thanks a lot guys. I have to admit, through all of the ways Ive tried making exhaust over the years, these elbows make it easy. The bender that I made for using small aluminum rod is a close second. This is the first time Ive done it this way, so we will see how it finishes out.The elbows were backordered for a bit but I managed to get a few packs. I put in a few hours work making fittings, wiring, and plumbing the 3406. Nothing worthy of pics yet, but in the next day or so.
  6. After looking at photos of 1:1 Fruehauf dump trailers, I decided to add a few features. I realized I miscounted the front steps, so I removed two of them. I added ladders to both sides of the rear. The tailgate is about ready for paint. I also cut a hole in the front for access to the ram. I also got a few coats of paint on the rear fenders. I'm going to tape them off and add green to match the front fenders
  7. I finally started tackle the exhaust. The actual pipes are alum tube glued to plastruct elbows. The Y pipe is made from two elbows. I heated and bent .250 solid rod to make the pipe from the turbo to the Y.
  8. I looked into that briefly, but I didnt see any that had a realistic tread.
  9. That looks like what I need. Would it be too much trouble to get some dimensions on the rears?
  10. Looks to be in great shape. We're you able to confirm the running gear? More pics please!
  11. Does anyone know what motor is in the Western Star Constellation kit? The Wild Cat box art to be specific. Thanks in advance.
  12. I was just going to say the same thing. Make sure that old Dodge frame is fishplated, or it'll break in half
  13. I can't really express how extraordinary this is. It's nothing short of amazingly impressive. Thanks for including some build pics and pics of the 1:1. Super great work Charles.
  14. Pat that's quite a haul. What are the resin engines?
  15. About the VIN, you can check with these guys. Someone might know something http://www.autocar-trucks.com/index.php
  16. Thats a drag man...That sounds like you lost some cool stuff. I actually just passed a whole fleet of these trucks coming up through Wiggins Mississippi this past weekend. I couldnt get any pics, but I got a good look while I was riding on side of them. Theyre not as big as I thought theyd be.
  17. Sam, being that the nature of Autocar was built to owner specs, it literally could have been anything. The truck should have an ID tag inside the door that has all of the info on the truck when it was born including the date and original owners name. I will still dig through my stuff and see what I can find out.
  18. Small update. I got some color on the frame and bed. The cab is about to get primed, so I mocked up for a pic.
  19. There should always be some blocks of wood also(some dirty 4"x4" blocks, balsa wood will work), some pieces of angle for chocks, a shredded tire(blowout), and some wreckers have an extra fuel tank mounted in the bed with a siphon pump, hose and nozzle to provide roadside assistance.
  20. JT, sorry I thought I replied to you. I have a 24' x 24' shop thats pretty much my personal Hobby Shop. Shelves lined with kits, cabinets full of resin stash, bins full of parts, more stacks of kits, 20' workbench, display area, and in progress area. Theres even a 1:1 '69 Plymouth and '49 Indian in there. If your ever over this way, come check it out.
  21. Excellent! Thank you for having this cast Alain.
