Steppewolf- The Pusher

Well as was already said, The Birds covered a bunch: Mr Tamborine man, chimes of freedom, positively fourth street, & my back pages. Joan Biez covered a bunch, Neil Young covers a bunch live, Hendrix covered a few, The Hollies put out a whole album of his songs, The Turtles covered it aint me babe, Rod Stewart covered Forever Young. The interesting thing about All Along the Watchtower is now Dylan plays it Hendrix's way. Ive seen him play it live twice and comes close to hitting the solos. And its not his hired gun playing lead either, its Bob! Hes been quoted as saying that Hendrix made the song his own. So when he plays it now its as a tribute to Jimi. Heres an interesting list. http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2009/04/50-best-bob-dylan-covers-of-all-time.html

Be that 'someone'
Superpeterbilt replied to Thatswhatshesaid's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
like I said, I make a living programming computers. I get it. I know the difference between making something by hand, and spending hours programming it. Dont take offense to my comment. Making it by hand IS NOT the same as drawing it on a computer. I program much more complicated things than models, and I know whats involved with it. I have also spent the better part of a decade whittling out a truck cab from scratch.Your barking up the wrong tree. I respect what you do, Im not calling you out. -

I cast some stuff, and its not easy. Its not as glamorous as you think it would be either. If I didnt spend 50hrs a week running a machine shop, Id have much more time more casting and building. I have about 40 cabs mastered, but no time to mould and cast them. I make all my masters from scratch, so the 3d printing seems like cheating to me, but Im also a computer programmer, so I appreciate the work put in. It sucks to put years into scratchbuilding a cab when someone can crank it out with a computer. But its also nice to have a perfect specimen.Anyway, I forgot what the topic was about.I like the days when I bought a resin cab and knew that the guy I bought it from busted his ass, so I could have a model if this particular truck. For the most part its still that way, but computers ruin everything. With that being said, I make a living with computers. I also dont make any sence. Goodnight. -

Very cool build. Excellent work -
So in my spare time at the shop I decided to try to make a better Alcoa rim for the 1/16 trucks. I recently grabbed a few of the Petes and realized that theres virtually no aftermarket in this scale. I strongly dislike the wheels in the kit, so Im doing something about it. I started with some 1.5 Alum round stock and got to it. This is the start of the rough shape before I radiused it with a file.If you notice the shiney line on the outer diameter, thats how far back Im going to bring the radius. After shaping, parting it off, and hogging out the back this is the end of the lathe work. Next, I set my mini rotary table up in the Bridgeport and set up to mill the 20 holes. Next, I made the outer rings. I chose to go with the split rim because Im all about the old school. This will be a master to resin cast. I dont like the kit tires either, so Im going to try a set of tires from the All American Toy Co.

Yeah Sam, I would add some .312/.375 styrene strip underneath tracing the shape of the bumper. -

What a great job! Excellent execution of the box art. This is in the top 10 builds of this kit that Ive seen. Funny thing is, thats exactly how I was going to build it. -

Excellent job.Top notch build. -
No, its not that, its just that with the 18 wheelers section of the forum theres a good sense of community and flowing ideas and what not. Sometimes the inspiration from other builders can really help push a project along, and I have a lot of trouble getting things completed anyway. Just being on the forum has helped my building increase. Its not that I wont work on it if no one seems interested, It just might not get updated. I just built a whole slew of Big Rigs, so its time for a change and finish this up.
