Very nice build Dave!!! Like a few here, I have one of these somewhere. I do believe it was a "High Tech" kit with the multi media parts.
-
It's a great kit to have back on the shelves again!!! I restored an original kit a few years ago that I picked up at a swap meet.... I can't wait to build the new one to go with it. Monogram did a pretty neat thing by tooling up new Firestone dirt track tires, along with the ribbed fronts (sans the Firestone lettering.... ) By doing so, and adding a few new decals to the sheet, they made it closer to the 1:1 that Hollywood Hotrods built last year.... http://www.hollywoodhotrods.com/BlackWidow.htm At any rate, what an awesome comeback of a kit from many of "our" childhoods, and for the younger group of modelers, here's a peek at what some of us grew up with. A simple, but effective piece of modeling history. I love the repops....

Now, I know that there are guys who can build fast, but seeing two finished the same week that our LHS just got these in is just unreal.... I love the added driver figure Drew, it looks like it fits perfectly. Great build, can't wait to see the diorama.
-
WOW, that was fast!!! Like most of the fellas here, I just got mine a couple days ago too. You did a great job on it. I'm hoping the aftermarket steps up with some more team livery with the added tow vehicle artwork like Revell did, even some cool fictitious teams.

Not a stellar year, but did get a few finished..... TD Cherry Bomb.... Much modified Red Baron.... Box stock Red Baron.... The Don Edmunds Super Modified.... A Blueprinter issue vintage dragster.... AMT's Tommy Ivo dragster.... I also restored this original 1964 Monogram Little T....

It's all been said, but I still have to add.....That's one gorgeous Corvette!!! Very well executed.
-
It looks great Drew!!! I never would have thought about doing that with the old Grant King kit. Hmmmm, I have several of them.....

Oh man, your a man after my own heart.... Being a Harley guy myself, who in the heck can't help but love those Trumpy's? Your little project looks like a winner in the making!!! I went on a mission about 12 years ago to get every 1/8 Triumph kit that Revell made from 1964 thru 1972, and I did, with extras!! I had to finally sit down and build one of the Custom Show Bikes just to see how well one of these old kits actually went together (not many of them were ever built, or if they were started, never finished... ) Here's one I did a couple years ago as a test mule.... Anyway.....Let's get back to Mikes fantastic Bobber.....
-
Heck yeah Mike, one can't have to many of these kits.... I agree that Revell could have upped the ante a little on detail, but when they hit the market, they were a great success, and were really hot for awhile. They are simple, yet are wide open for added detail, and personal building tastes for all calibers of builders. I would love to see them get popular again. Not to hijack your post, but if you haven't seen my last two, here's a peek.... Let's see some more of these cool bikes getting built again!!! Again, great build Mike!!!

It looks great!!! Taking the kink out of the rear frame rails really help these hard tail frames look better. I have built many of these kits, and the possibilities are endless. I'm really glad I bought about 60+ kits @ Wal-Mart when they sold them for $9.99....

Years ago a good friend of mine built this version of this car, and I was shocked to see yet another beautiful build!!! Your build is perfect!!! It's really great to see these old kits built with this caliber of quality.
-
Other than the top is to glossy, the build is spot on!!! One of the best I've seen from the new kit. The Cady decals really set it off.

It is a great build, but really doesn't fit in here at all. You might try finding Fine scale modeler's forum, or some sort of military forum. -
You know you only got those awards because I had to work, and didn't make it!!! Congrats Chuck, sorry I missed the show.

Very nice Bernard!!! You really went all out on this one!!! -
One of the nicest built-up's I've seen of this kit. Great job!!!
-
I'm not much into the low rider scene, but this is sure some great eye candy!!! Nice job.
-
Thanks for all the great comments!!! This was a fun project, but still a little challenging to to pull off. Now I just need to get out of this three month slump, and build again!!
-
I like every single bit of it!!! Great build!!!

Man, that is small, but very cool too!!! Great build, and nice execution on the extra detail.
