  1. >I was pissed, nobody wanted to take a picture of it. >Ruined my day......... i had a similar feeling at nnl west gregg. didnt ruin my day though. wasnt pissed actually either. actually got pissed in the brit sense a little later that night but i guess that doesnt count. wheres the "cheers" icon?
  2. that is too bad then...here i was holding my breath for a birdcage. i hope someone takes up the vintage sports car torch and runs with it because its been awhile (like you imply) since ive seen much of that sort of thing from tamiya. i was wondering if they were just not getting imported or something.
  3. >Tamiya, they're mostly out of the car business that is truly sad if true. what makes you say that? they are releasing big buck (relatively) car kits still from what ive seen. have they announced some withdrawal strategy or something?
  4. i would buy one of those, if made by tamiya or equivalent.
  5. pretty cool, i dont see how the paint is messed up, looks good to me from the photo anyway. so if its a hotwheels you mean one of those little hotwheels? if so isnt that about 1/65th scale or something?

doesnt make you look unpatriotic, it makes you look like a realist. no doubt about it the country is in distress. flying the flag upside down is appropriate in my eyes. we need help over here. besides since when is an avatar someone chooses anyones business but their own? next thing you know everyone will have something to say about everyone elses. i see lots i have objections to but i havent said anything specific and dont plan to. let me add one more thing here too: >Please correct the avatar as we are all good AMERICANS here! maybe you skipped this part of history class but america came to be through protest over an unjust system of government, unjust taxation and many other causes roughly parallel to a lot of things happening today. to tell someone not to protest or youre not a "good" american is the height of ugly-americanism in my eyes. today they come to get your neighbor and you dont protest, tomorrow they come to get you but by then there wont be anyone to protest. or maybe youre being sarcastic in that case i apologize. all moderation in moderation needs to be the byword of moderators. ok enough of that, for now. cool rods there.
  7. i like silver and black with some red accents. looks mean and down to business. nice subject matter too.
  8. ive stripped resin from a couple manufacturers with super clean more than once, with no ill effects whatsoever. but whats that that is often said? ah yeah, test first.
  9. ive seen what i consider a whole lot worse that a lot of people here might think is fantastic. there is truly no accounting for taste (and anything that is driven on the street with bigger than about 16" wheels proves that very well. or anything with the name "boyd" attached to it). anyone with money for a ferrari has money to completely ruin it and just move on when they realize what theyve done. kind of like those who wear rolex watches. kind of screams "hey i can lose this 5000 $ watch and just go buy another...no biggie"
  10. which technique did you use? looks like it turned out great!
  11. thanks harry that sort of thing is right up my alley...only problem is im going to scratch build some beach chairs to strap in there and you would be able to see under the seat! looks like i will build one though, shouldnt be too terribly hard. probably make it a six volter to cut down on complexity.
  12. you mean to tell me that was for real? i thought it was an april fools joke, and if you dont mind me saying so, not a very good one. that model that was shown "after" looked destined for the dumpster. oh well, i guess you double-april-fooled me.
  13. i believe the model king may be finding out the truth behind this axiom: know how to end up with a small fortune in the model/music/reggae business? start with a large fortune. so true so true.
  14. thats what i was afraid of harry. yeah i could scratch build one and thats what i will probably do...but this was supposed to be a "quick" build...but like always...
  15. did the big t or deuce come with a 1/8th scale battery? i need one for the big tub im restoring/destroying but the build up i started with didnt have one...and as i recall the big t didnt either. but im hoping im wrong. if not are there any aftermarket ones out there that anyone can point me to? sorry for not researching this beforehand but ive been busy remaking the front axle i originally thought i could live with but now think looks terrible.
  16. i must be very dense. i dont even know what this means: >I stacked three of them on the mounting screw, tightened them up a picture would be worth a thousand words.
  17. >completely chrome plated engine dunk that thing in the chrome stripper tank! >Of course, none of us had the skills to take advantage of all that thats so funny and so true. in my case i glued on the front end, smeared some putty on it, sanded it a bit and painted it. looked like ######. i couldnt figure it out: how do you make this look good, i mean you cant be serious that i have to sand all this putty down! then what? then you might as well not have even put it on in the first place! took me about 10 years to realize how body work was done.
  18. at some point you just have to admit to yourself its just a model and get on with it. thats what i keep telling myself and its how i get projects done.
  19. hey antonio, theres a garage defend out on the bay right now, due to end in a couple days. just wanted to give you a heads up, as you mention they dont show up all that often.
  20. 2 part 5 minute epoxy. Devcon i think is the typical brand but local hobby shops often have similar stuff that is house branded and cheaper. either seem to work fine. they are clear when mixed and ive added color by adding black india ink or clear red, blue, yellow etc paint in small quantities. for a mirror probably black is best because it will look like a gasket.
  21. well you could attach them with future floor wax, or clear laquer or even with elmers white glue. problem with all those is that while you wont see the attachment point, the attchment wont be very sturdy either. what i usually do is drill a pinhole into the mirror base and another into the body where i want the mirror to mount and then put a pin (little piece of brass rod) into one and stick it to the other using superglue or epoxy. i often make the hole in the piece to be attached a bit bigger than the pin so i can move it around a bit to get it angled correctly. epoxy is better in that case because its sticky enough to hold something but not as instantly permanently sticky like superglue. hope that helps; hope i understood your question correctly.
  22. very nice, i have a later 240sx so i have a weak spot for these cars, even the earlier series, which i think in some ways looks better than the later one like i have. do a search for "two bad nissans" or something like that to see pics of my skyline plus silvia
  23. >I hope you don't think I was attacking you if youre referring to me, no, the idea never crossed my mind. i enjoy discussions so i take opposition viewpoints as a good thing. dont worry about me!
  24. ok thanks for getting back to me craig; a buddy of mine locally grabbed it when i mentioned i had zero interest in it besides pirating the megaphone so it found a new home with him!
  25. its not sneaky at all. im sure the point for those not wanting to sell out of the usa isnt to discriminate against "foreigners" just because they arent americans, im sure its to eliminate the extra red tape and uncertainty necessary to send something out of the country. having a usa forwarding address is perfectly fine im sure...it just costs the buyer more in the long run because they have to pay the shipping to the usa address and then to the country they live in. but its not a problem for the seller at all im sure and gets around all the problems very well. i use the same technique to buy records in england...believe me postage from there to here for a stack of LPs or 12" singles is way more than the value of the records. so i have them delivered to a uk address and then work out them getting here either when the recipient comes to visit, or i go there or something.
