  1. that is a fantastic build and its really heartening to see you meet and defeat these challenges! boy I didn't know Pocher kits were so sketchily engineered! I thought they were real high quality with impressive hardware. I guess not! its fantastic to see you get through this project and thanks for reposting all those pics! jb
  2. turned out very nice especially for that hard to build body. but you are right about the front wheels. or I think more correctly, the front wheels are alright its the front fender that is the problem, it sticks out too much in front. would look a lot better trimmed back and carved out more on the back (engine) side. but like you say its done, maybe something to think about next time. looks great as is though and what I am seeing is probably partially a camera angle problem jb
  3. yes so you are basically agreeing with me: it costs pretty much zero to increase the quantity inside a package from X to 2 or 3X. So they need to do it if they want to sell their stuff. its not really the consumers fault or burden that the cost of moving their dinosaur is so high a couple of parts in a package cost the same as a whole kit in a package. they have to make it cost effective and attractive to the consumer to sell. in the example I always like to think of, if only Revell would release the parts pack motorcycles, putting them all together in one box and selling for average kit price was probably a way better idea than trying to sell them one by one, like the originals were, in individual packages for 2/3 the price of a kit. gonna sell a whole lot more the former way than the latter. just sayin' jb
  4. imageshack works great too, better than fokti for posting individual photos but fokti is better for complete galleries. jb
  5. >And if we don't respond by buying them, well there won't be any more products like this in the future! I'm sorry, but, give me a break. jb
  6. the thing is, at least to me, they were fairly priced when it was about 8 - 10$ for a box of multiple, well detailed and printed, tires. even though it seemed to me the tires were immediately included in kits that were subsequently announced and released and therefore not really very "exclusive" to the parts pack. I didn't pay attention to those wide oval whatevers because I don't build disco queens so I might have missed the price hike. but this (one of) latest number with the one set of wheels and one set of tires for like 18$ is ridiculous. you can say this and that about marketing packaging distribution, but the on the face of it fact is (or should be): no one is going to pay twenty bucks for that package when you can basically buy an entire kit including probably exactly those wheels and tires for pretty much that same price. I knew from the time this one was announced that I would not be partaking and would be willing to wager that they aren't gonna sell, at least not more than one set per person. they just aren't that great nor even a great deal. parts packs like these have to be priced appropriately. and one unfortunate side effect of this mispricing might be the "industry" thinking parts packs aren't saleable to the model buying public, when the actual message should be: get your imagination to work and offer something that is both unique and at least fairly cost effective for the consumer. a good way to make that last goal is to remember: more is better even if the "more" is more tires or something relatively costless like that (costless because at point of manufacture it probably costs the same to make 2000 vs 1000 of something). jb
  7. oh and extra special award for the gas can kind of hanging on the front bumper, protruding over it like a nerf bar, with no visible means of attachment. and I believe that's exactly how it is in the kit too. jb
  8. re: monogram land rover: >I'm surprised we haven't seen this one back! Figure that it could be sold as Revell of Germany throughout Europe too! >I don't even have one. You just don't see them for sale. I sold one a year or so ago to someone here on this forum, I forget who exactly. still have a couple. I never paid more than about 20 for them off ebay but that was a few years ago. gotta agree with reissuing this though...drop the drippy decals and do a desert version. jb
  9. you have to keep in mind, even 600 or 1100 is peanuts compared to what it would cost in 1:1. but of course in 1:1 you would be driving around in a super duper Porsche instead of having it sit on your mantle. less liability though...every cloud and the silver lining don't you know jb
  10. >two Revell Parts Packs double kits of cars there were three but yeah, those. jb
  11. well now that I think about it, ive put down way more than what I paid for the Uncertain T, for the Tamiya 1/12 Caterham seven for one (probably 280 or so): and the Tamiya Lola, I think I paid close to 250 before it was reissued (with extra PE parts grrr): jb
  12. try this: https://www.google.com/search?q=two+port+hilborn+injection&biw=1160&bih=576&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=jeOQVNvqCMPVoATXhYLgBw&ved=0CFwQsAQ jb
  13. Renault 5 was sold in the US as "Le Car" for a while. pretty capable car on the autocross course when set up properly. jb
  14. wow that thing belongs in the "most obscure kit" thread! never even knew something like that existed! jb
  15. >Also one more question before i take a break, can you get in legal trouble for a trade gone bad? not likely, do you know what lawyers get per hour? but you should do all you can to rectify any situation that is in limbo. jb
  16. hey man don't worry about this, take care of your mom. this model stuff will be here when you get back. best of luck to you and your mom, remember even though its pretty major surgery, most people come out of it a lot better than they were, including at least a couple friends of mine. jb
  17. have to be a half built, but clean and unpainted, Uncertain T that I paid about 150 for. thought that was pretty excessive but then got an offer of 200 for it. didn't sell it and hope to build it this winter. jb
  18. and all revell parts pack motorcycles jb
  19. what would be kool would be to include parts to build a "little drag" and a "little rod" with the "little T". there is a start already: the little T contained a turtledeck like the drag and a gas tank like the rod. jb
  20. anyone who would enter someone else's build as their own would have to be out of their minds, on several fronts. jb
  21. it *has* occurred to others here how to absolutely win every auction you want, right? namely make a bid so outrageous no one is going to even approach it. sure you are probably going to pay more for the item than you probably hoped to. but that wasn't the promise...the promise was that you would win the auction. and win you will. see if money is no object than the world is your oyster, at least as far as material stuff goes. easy come easy go...and meanwhile think of all the kool stuff you can have. some in this world are blessed to be in exactly that position and if you are one of them, then ebay is easy. for the rest of us though, we have to be able to walk away satisified that maybe we made that guy pay way more than he should have, but that's about the only satisfaction you will be able to get from it unless you get lucky. and getting lucky still happens. I just doubt there are many if any "shill" bidders out there willing to try to jack up prices due to the security that exists on ebay. cancelling bids is kept track of and if there are complaints they (ebay) seem to take them seriously. at least in my experience. there are a lot of reasons to not like or be resentful of ebay, but imo cheating is not one of them. more their draconian attempts to curtail cheating at this point. jb
  22. well that is an interesting detail you point out with the timeline. on another subject, "price guides" are generally useless, in my experience anyway. jb
  23. but I believe the engine fitting in the chassis was basically the point jb
  24. afx, I think I have been emailing you for an update on this trans kit and I never hear back. it is available now, and uses the fujimi enthusiasts 911 series as a base? jb
