  2. No kidding...there is nothing more paramount than a good nights sleep. Our work schedules are not the same so in order as to not wake one another it is perfect. No snoring, no cold feet, no late night TV to wake your spouse.
  3. It was -18 with -41 wind chill this morning. No school. I never remember school closings either...but the country was much less litigous.
  4. Nice stocker...did he ever win the Piston Cup?
  5. Apologies for the crappy phone pic...at least everything in the background is in focus.
  6. Taking a break from some production stuff for a while and started this Olds. Tweaked on the suspension to get an aggressive stance. Nosebleeders are not allowed in my modeling dojo. I'm sticking an injected big block chebby with a some special mods I've seen on a real one. Pretty sure I'm going with miles deep black as night paint and retaining the chrome trim. Like this one.
  7. 'C' pillar modified by me as well as hood.
  8. I garnered a little 'ink' in 2003 at the now extinct Strictly 1/43 show. It was a wonderful show for us small scale builders in Chicago for a number of years. The Maserati birdcage was a commission build as well as the T35 Bugatti. I'm in the process of getting the birdcage back in a trade for some other builds I have completed. It was done in 'bare metal' using alclad. The frame of the Maserati was all photoetch.
  9. When I did this full time I could build 5 of these a month. I worked in Andy Martins shop in Mpls, MN. They were fully wired and plumbed with many bits turned by Cody Grayland. All parts were resin cast modified and corrected parts from the MPC 1/20 Mclaren. A lot of work but very gratifying.
  10. The Buick appears to be in fine fettle. Beautifully executed craftsmanship..
  11. I build for the money. It is a nice part time endeavor and I can sit down anytime and work on something. No time clock, no dead lines. It is not a get rich hobby but it is a nice supplement to my income and I get to be the boss. It is also gratifying to know that my models are my legacy. My name is on them. When a customer sits down at his desk and looks at Maserati birdcage I built he's looking at an extension of me...my work, my art. I like to think it reminds him of the great times he had with the real car.

    Indy cars

Lance Sellers had resin conversion kit to replicate that car.
  13. The trim is photo etch. I run a light coat of Tamiya clear to attach the trim. Any excess can be cleaned up with denatured alcohol. It does not effect the laquer paint.
  14. I saw a build listed by someone as 'professional'. It was an Monogram IndyCar, unpainted, decaled horribly and the wing was on backwards. I sent him a constructive email and he fixed the wing and said thanks for noticing that.

    41 Willys

I like this one so much I may do a replica of your replica...nice clean build. The powder blue, white walls really is a good looking color combo. Bravo well done.
  16. 25 years this fall...the key...separate bedrooms.
  17. Thanks for all of the compliments. It was a fun build particularily in the cockpit area. I rebuilt the seats to more closely resemble the seats in the real car. By grinding and adding the tubular frame with round styrene they look much better than the stock kit pieces. Much of the dash switches and knobs, and bezels were turned on the Unimat. I primarily use automotive laquers to paint with. I have a pretty good system down of laying down color, clear and polishing using micro mesh sanding clothes. But a good paint job starts with a good base, body work and prep.
  18. I'm not a big NASCAR fan but the American assualt on Lemans with big old American V8 thunder intrigued me to build this replica. It was also an exercise in doing a set of decals on the ALPS. I like to build unique cars that others have not ventured to build. Oh yeah....and I like beer sponsored race cars even if it is canoe beer. (Beer that is close to water).
  19. My primary interests include Indy 500, Can Am, Street rods although I'll build anything I find interesting. I have been a builder for 30+ years. It was my full time job for 2 years. It's tough being an artist...feast or famine. I build for a few select clients and continue to create masters for my Brickyard Engineering line 1/43 Indy cars. I'm currently working on a 1/25 Mclaren Indy car that will be resin cast. I have had the pleasure to work with and learn from Andy Martin of Aardvark Models, Jim Kampmann and other great builders from Minnesota. I was about 17 when I met these guys at an MCCM meeting and their builds inspired me to pursue the model car venue. I had previously built primarily military stuff. A number of my 1/43 builds have graced the pages of Model Cars Magazine. I believe you are never to old or to experienced to learn new techniques when you think you are you are no longer growing.
  20. It's 1/24 scale resin kit. Profil 24.
  21. Profil 24 kit. modified seats, turned brass and aluminum bits on dash. Built for Creative Miniature Associates....oh yeah he never paid me. Lesson learned never send model out before check arrives.

I finished this batch of MA Scale (1/43) for a customer of mine.
  23. Polar lights Dodge Charger, custom Alps decals...otherwise pretty much out of box.
