  1. Welcome to the forum, your gonna love it here. There are a lot of talented builders here and great tips and how too's. You got some nice builds there. Again, welcome to MCM forum, Dave
  2. It's a wonderfull thing, "THE DAVE THING", LOL. Here is a front view of the real car, This is the first pic that made me want to replicate it.
  3. I guess the big wheels are a PNW and a Dave thing. We cant use convertables but 3 months out of the year so why not big wheels instead. Foxer, yes it does melt the plastic, if you keep the knife moving it will work like cutting with a saw almost, but I also melted plastic from sprues for filling in the gap on the new c pillar and where I cut to much out.
  4. Thanks everyone for the kind comments. The real car is not mine, I wish it was. I found several pics of it on the internet and just happened to have a couple 40 Ford kits and figured I'd give it a try. I used one of those woodburning pen that came with four tips on this. It cost less than $10.00 and is a bit of a challenge compaired to cutting and filling. As for the rest of the build, the real car has Mercedes headlights and turn signals in which I want to replicate. The rest of it is going to be made up as I go. The chrome trim I want to try, we'll see how that goes later. Thanks again for the comments. Dave
  5. I started this a couple hours ago. I was showing a friend a pic of a real 40 ford and said i wanted to build one like it and he suggested using a hot knife to do the body work, he bought me a cheap $8.00 hot knife and this is what i have done so far. I cut the roof off, filled in some gaps and redid the rear pillar. I used a little brown and white sprue for the fill in work. the only glue i've used was to glue in a small strip of plastic to get the pillar shape. Now to do the other side and get it to match. Thanks for looking, Dave and here is the picture of the real car
  6. Here is a diagram for placing the plug wires, hope this helps. Dave
  7. You should of had the before pics when you displayed it at th PSAMA show, it looks really nice in person, great job on it. Dave
  8. I built a few trucks like those in the late 80's and early 90's. I even LTrimm in a couple of those trucks. I even built a 1980 D-50 Dodge lowered 8 inches and converable kit, great when it was sunny, but on the oregon coast it was the only convert minituck i built. Thanks for the memories. Dave
  9. This was a great show today, we had a lot of great models and even a woman walked away with more awards than anybody and best in show. I have a few pics when i can find the cable to uploading to the computer.
  10. Hey Doc, I think the Viagra didn't work like it was suppose to !!!!!!
  11. I've been having the same painting issues here in Tacoma, I think it might be the fact we haven't dries out in months . Can't wait to see your truck at the Model Car Sunday, I will be bringing my '55 Cameo and if I can get paint to work for myself, maybe also my '63 Galaxie. Dave
  12. Must be just in the Cameo kits then, both the '55 and '57 Cameo kits have the visors.
  13. Thank you all for the comments. This was the first weekend we have had some nice weather here in washington, so I took advantage of the sun for pics with my new camera, Nikon P50 Coolpix. The visor comes with the model, and I do have the coil wire hooked up now using a detail master coil. Dave
  14. That is just TOO COOL, you'll have to show us how you did that Dave
  15. This is the AMT 1955 Chevy Cameo I've been working on for about 6 months when I get the time, a little here and there. Its been painted Testors Fiery Orange and cleared with Wet Look Clear. I used Aoshima tires and wheels, opened the grill, added parts box seats, custom center console. I used the big bock Chevy from the Amt '70 Monte Carlo kit with Model Car Garage resin valve covers, air cleaner and Eldebrock photo etched pieces along with a MAD wired Distributor. I have the exhaust and a few other pieces to finish and then glue the body in place and it will be finished. Thanks for looking and any comments Dave
  16. It has been confirmed on the date change. It has been moved to the following Sunday, May 10th.
  17. Hope to see some of you there. Dave
  18. this should help for putting the wires in the correct locations.
  19. Thanks everyone, someday they will get done along with the many other projects. The flames are decals from the kit and are not the easiest to apply.
  20. This is the Revell Ed Roth 56 ford Pickup. I originally bought it for my girlfriend to build a couple years ago and she never found the time, so I started the project for her. When I bought the kit the only thing missing were the tires and wheels, so I decided to update to a more modern set of Pegasus wheels. Paint is Valspar HOK Snowwhite and Model Master Revving Red with Model Master Wet Look Clear. Except for the wheels its going to be box stock and built for her. Thanks for Looking. Also one I've been working on is Revells 69 Baldwin Motion Camaro, Painted Valspar HOK Kosmos Red and Pegasus chrome T's
