  1. i got a really nice resin body and i scrubbed it with purple power and a toothbrush and then dawn soap. i did this twice and there are 2 spots that are still shiny, and feels a little slippery. i am now soaking the body in the purple power to try to get those spots, but does the shiny spot definitely mean i didnt get all the release agent? i dont want to paint to have that spot popup as a problem and then i have hours worth of corrections. thanks
  2. i added some thinner to the paint and i probably added too much because now it is a little streaky. i think i will need to just do super thin coats to build up the color since i over thinned
  3. thank you for confirming. i think the tamiya grey primer will be good for the light gray, and i will just need to get a dark gray for the highlights and middle section on the seats for the dash, i think champaigne gold might be a nice choice. would you agree, that is the first color i thought of when i saw a pic of a real dash
  4. i have been searching the internet for interior color options for the 1950 oldsmobile 88 club coupe, and everything i am finding is that it was only available in grey. i found that there was a deluxe version that had 2 tone grey, but was still only grey. can anyone else confirm my findings?
  5. i have used humbrol paint a lot in the past, but i recently got humbrol green paint. the paint is so thick and hard to paint, it reminds me of the testors little bottles. was there a change in formula for these paints or did i get a bad bottle
  6. probably been mentioned, but i use soda for a couple of days or 3. no smell and dont need to worry about hurting skin
  7. thank you very much for the information. it is very helpful. i appreciate the help guys
  8. wasnt the 51 chevy bel air and the 50 oldsmobile basically the same body except for minor changes to bumpers and emblems and such. the reason i ask, i bought the amt 51 chevy and the revell 50 olds and the sizes are not the same. my thought was i would take the 51 chevy body and put it on the frame of the olds since the olds has much better detail, but the wheelwells dont line up, the frame is sticking out past the body, and overall just doesnt come close to fitting. they are both supposed to be 1/25 scale is this just a case of one of the manufacturers being off scale or were these cars not the same like i thought they were. in case anyone cares, the 51 chevy from amt looks decent as far as parts and such. i cant speak for fit and finish because i just got it in and havent done anything on it.
  9. hi thank you for the information. i was definitely planning on going to the show in wayne. i had gone several years ago and thought it was great. my camera is a digital camera but its a cheapo i got from amazon for like 35 dollars. its so bad that when i hit the button to take a picture i have to wait 2 or 3 seconds before it actually takes the picture. i will see if i have any ability to change settings but i very rarely take pictures with it that i really dont know a lot of how it works. i usually use my phone to take pictures
  10. yes, a 48. i mistyped in the title. Thanks for the nice comments. This is my first 40's style car build. The frame was very complex, but overall i very much enjoyed the build. i am not sure which i am going to do next, but this build has really made me find the enjoyment in modeling again
  11. New to the site and this is my first completed model in quite a few years. This build I think was one of the hardest I have built since it has a lot of little bits. It is a Revell/Monogram Pro-Modeler series model from many years ago. Overall an easy fitting kit except for a few unclear instructions but overall its a great kit I am not good at taking pics and i have a lousy camera, so please excuse the poor quality of the photos.
  12. thanks for the information. i found surprisingly that i use model master light ivory as a base coat and then krylon satin almond, and i get the color i was looking for. i found this on accident because i had sprayed the light ivory to a seat before testing it out, and when i wasnt happy i just painted satin almond on top. i also found that just painting a piece satin almond wasnt right either, so hte base coat mattered
  13. i have tried so many colors and cant seem to get the color i am looking for for my interior. i am looking for a tan leather similar to the image below. i can only use spray paint, so if anyone knows of anything relatively close to this color i would be very happy http://i.imgur.com/Ah3F3e9.jpg thanks guys
