'65 Fury. Back on the Bench.

A few exhaust brackets. Steve -
Same here. While you're there, you can pick up some Duplicolor paints, JB Weld 2 part epoxy and Super Clean. Steve
-
Exactly. Sometimes I'll lay down a coat of a cheap primer, or something like Testors primer, prior to spraying Duplicolor, just to add a little protection against the hotter Duplicolor. Then several light coats of the Duplicolor. Of course, this all depends on what kind of paint you're putting over it. If you're using a hot paint like automotive lacquer, you need a good barrier to prevent plastic crazing. If you're using a simple hobby enamel or a "pseudo" hobby lacquer, all you need is some cheap dollar store stuff. Steve

I think that I'm finally done refining the wheels! Now I found a set of chrome center caps shaved from another wheel so I don't have to use the home cast Alclad painted ones! I'll just need to add some Molotow to the lug nuts and possibly some valve stems. Steve -
Duplicolor also has a nice primer/sealer that I use a lot. Just keep in mind that Duplicolor primers are designed for automotive use and are hotter than hobby primers. Duplicolor primers are every bit as good as Tamiya or any other hobby primer, (better than some) at half the price. Steve

Very nicely done! Steve

Attended the 21st annual NNL North show today, and I just want to extend a giant "Thank You" to those who attended and saw fit to award my '67 Ford Galaxie XL with one of the Top 10 "Peoples Choice" awards. I am very humbled. I also need to give a big thank you to the great guys from the Winnipeg Model Car Club, who gave the Galaxie their coveted "Best Road Car" trophy. What a huge surprise and a humbling event! Met a few old friends and made a couple of new ones. It's always great fun and I look forward to returning again next year. Over 400 vehicles displayed this year! What a great turn out! Thanks everyone!! Steve

At the moment, I'm using the Lindberg block from the '64 Belvedere kit with the addition of a set of exhaust manifolds from the AMT '49 Merc Chrysler engine, the Missing Link intake and a set of Fireball Modelworks AFB Carter carbs. We'll see how it turns out! Steve -

I've just been massaging them by hand. So far it has been working. I haven't needed to use any heat or anything. I can't see any reason why tube wouldn't work just as well. Steve -

That was my thought Keith. It would have been a pretty easy "day 2" addition. Steve -

It won't be far away! Basically stock with after market wheels and an extra carburetor. Steve -

There are always a few guys that post photos on Fotki sometime after the show. I rarely do much of it. I don't have a smart phone and really don't want to drag around a camera, but I'll consider taking it along. Steve -

I am still plugging away on this project, although my time has become limited in the past couple of weeks. I've mostly been working on fabricating an exhaust system by utilizing the Lindberg '64 Plymouth mufflers and creating my own exhaust pipes from plastic rod. I also happened upon a refinement for the wheels when I stumbled upon some much nicer outer wheel rims from the AMT 1967 Ford Galaxie kit. They are exactly what I was looking for! The nice thing about them is that the 50 year old chrome finish has deteriorated to the point where it looks like a perfect facsimile to polished aluminum! Sometimes even a blind pig finds an acorn! Okay guys. Tomorrow is the day, and the weather in the region is going to be suitable only for indoor activities, so bring 'em out! Hopefully, I'll see many of you there! Steve -

Yes Bill, that was what I had discovered in my research. The single 4 barrel was my original plan when I was going to build it stock, but I decided that being as I was going a little beyond stock anyway.........well, what's one more carburetor between friends! Steve -

That's what I was thinking Dan. I've already switched out the exhaust manifolds, and if I use the resin intake and carbs, the rest will be fine. I'm contemplating reworking the pulleys and belts, but all depends on if I start getting bored with working on this project by that time. Steve -

Thanks Bob! It's kind of been sitting in limbo for a couple of weeks while I muster the time, (and courage) to paint it! Steve
