  1. There's only one of the '59s on ebay right now. They're asking $70.00 for it. I don't know how long ago you saw stacks of them, but they're not easy to find at a decent price anymore. You can still pick up the Comet for a little more than half of that. Steve
  2. I got you, the Lime Gold is actually upholstery paint. You might be ok with that as a lot of the old car interiors were more pearl in appearance than metallic. Sometimes you're ok with touch up paints, but I've seen a lot of very nice builds marred by metallic flakes the scale size of dimes! Steve
  3. First order of business will be finding a few parts. I would really like to find a set of stock wheels, (although I know that's unlikely), a correct rear bumper, (this one has a '65 bumper) and probably a rear window. I can work with the incorrect engine & chassis parts that came with the kit, and the a fore mentioned parts can be worked with, but I will bide my time and see what I can dig up. Steve
  4. They're not giving the Comets away either. Steve
  5. Correct, but how popular is a '71 T-Bird or a '70 Wildcat. I personally have no interest in a '71 T-Bird & I build almost nothing but stock builds. The '59 Imperial, on the other hand, went through at least 2 runs & they're still hard to find & valuable. Steve
  6. You're correct, MCW paints are a little expensive, but remember, they are formulated for model cars. By that I mean that the metallic particles in the paint are much closer to scale than most touch up paints, which I assume "Classic" is. Automotive touch up paints can have fairly heavy flakes & your 1/25th scale kit can wind up looking like a bass boat. Stick with pearls or similar if possible. Paints labeled "Metallic" are likely to be wildly out of scale. Steve
  7. Been looking high & low for an affordable MPC '66 Dodge Monaco & while this model & the word "affordable" do not play well together, I finally managed to find a half way decent builder for less than $100.00. The body, hood & interior are in great shape, just on the ugly side. There are a few other issues & some parts that I would like to find, so if anyone would happen to have some spare parts for a '66, let me know. Steve
  8. My new "trigger airbrush" uses a .5 mm needle which is terrific for painting bodies. A smaller tip will give you a narrower spray pattern making it more difficult to give you an even paint job. I bought my new one specifically because I was beginning to have issues with "streaky" looking paint. Steve
  9. Or you could always go with a color like MCW '67 Ford #6735 "Lime Gold Metallic". Steve
  10. If you go to the MCW website and click on the "Misc." button, you'll find a page full of "interior colors" On that list you'll find 3 different shades of "Ivy Green" ranging from light to dark. Steve
  11. I have no love for the Avanti. I think it's one of the ugliest cars ever produced. But I know a great build when I see one. Nice work Mikhail !! Steve
  12. Well, we can sure hope, can't we Bill. Steve
  13. But who wouldn't love to see a few of these? Steve
  14. Ok, I have seen this box. Just wasn't sure if this was the original stock version, or possibly a later funny car reincarnation. Steve
  15. Is it just me, or is the Johan 1968 Olds 442 virtually non-existent. I've casually looked for an example of the kit for several years on ebay & I can only remember seeing a couple in all of that time. I can't even seem to find a photo of what the box looked like! The promos show up occasionally, but the kit seems to be nearly extinct. Steve
  16. And, as usual, Yuri "slays" another one! I've come to the point where I dread seeing your "under glass" posts Yuri. It reminds me of my inadequacies! Always such phenomenal work. I think I love you man! Steve
  17. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably never be happy. There are about 100 full sized Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Dodges, Mercurys, etc, from the 50s alone that I'm sure will never be kitted. I rejoiced when Moebius did the Hudson & Chrysler 300 kits! I had hoped for more, but even Moebius has taken the predictable course & moved on to 60s racing subjects & pickups. I sure wish that they would have taken the next obvious step with the 300 kits & given us some Desoto/New Yorker/Imperial variations, but it was not to be. I guess that us "big 50s car" fanatics will just have to continue to be frustrated & learn to live with the occasional new '57 Chevy & Ford variations. Steve
  18. It surely is a dark day! I guess Tom knew when it was about time to exit the stage. Steve
  19. Seems that it has become standard practice that every nut case with a suicide complex has decided to become famous by going out in a blaze of glory & taking as many people with them as possible. I have to believe that it has a lot to do with our changing culture. Steve
  20. You have to remember that many times molds were altered to make the next year's kit. In this case, my guess is that the '67 Ford molds were changed to make the '68, & then quite possibly again to make the '69 Galaxie. Which would explain why the '67 & '68 have never been re-introduced while the '69 has, several times. My guess is that you will never see the AMT '67 Galaxie re-popped in it's original form. It will most likely require an entirely new tool. Steve
  21. I like it!! Nice work Dave! Thank you!! Steve
  22. I use individual display cases as well. Especially for my prize vintage builds. I've been in this hobby long enough to realize that an unprotected model will not last for long if displayed unprotected. Oh sure, it may still be intact, but you'll never get it completely cleaned of dust again after a couple of years short of dis-assembling it to give it a thorough cleaning. It only makes sense to me to spend a couple of extra bucks for a case & you'll never have to worry about dust again. Steve
  23. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the moderators for addressing some of the issues with the site. I have noticed a definite difference in how fast the pages load. Much better!! Thank you guys! Steve
  24. That I couldn't tell you Mark. I don't have a '68, & remember, I only have one spare seat. Steve
  25. Looking good Steve. I'm glad that my example was in a little better condition when I started. Saved me a lot of work I guess. I needed Modelhaus parts for mine when I got it as well. The tail lights & front seats. Luckily I got in under the wire with mine also. So, if anybody needs one front bucket seat for a '67 Bonneville, I have one. Steve
