  1. Finished up the '60 Edsel Ranger today! When I get a chance to sit down tonight for a while, I'll post some pics "Under Glass". Thanks for all your comments & encouragement everybody! Can't wait to get started on the next one! Hope you all had a great 4th!! Steve
  2. What a fantastic idea! I never thought I'd see the day! Giving these kids the opportunity to do something with their hands rather than texting or playing video games is brilliant! Steve
  3. Nice job Ron!! These Johan '59 Oldsmobiles are getting to be about as rare as they come! It's nice to see one brought back from the dead! The paint is just "glorious"!! Steve
  4. Getting pretty close to finishing up on this build. With any luck, I'll have her done within the next few days. Finished up the interior tonight. Box stock except for the steering column & levers which were scratch built as well as my usual "card stock" floor mats. For some reason, this kit had no horn ring on the steering wheel. I'm not sure if it ever had one but all the photos of the 1:1 I've seen have a horn ring, so I swiped one from an AMT '57 Ford kit. Steve
  5. Sweet Michael! I love the red & white combo! See too many black stripes & interiors for my taste. & the white top is the icing on the cake! Great job!! Steve
  6. That's basically how I did this one. Just masked off & painted alternating vertical stripes of white, light blue & medium blue, ( the light blue is a little hard to pick up in this photo) & then did horizontal stripes with a darker blue ultra fine "Sharpie". Something like this would be pretty close. Steve
  7. Good luck with that interior Peter! Looks like another typical "wild" early 60s Mopar upholstery pattern. I'm not sure it will even be possible to duplicate this interior pattern. I just did mine in a tri-tone & didn't get too carried away with the cloth. Have fun with it though. You never know what you might come up with. I see lots of masking tape & patience in your future! Steve
  8. Peter, You flatter me! These are right up my alley!! As a matter of fact, I just recently picked up another of the '62s & hope to get going on it in the near future. As for the Desoto, I built one of those a couple of years ago & I'm a little frightened at how similar our tastes must be. I painted mine before I had my airbrush up & running again & I used Testors "Tropical Turquoise". Honestly, I like yours much better! Don't give up on it. I wanna see this one finished!! Steve
  9. Very nice Eric! I've always thought the '55-'56s were the best looking Fords of that era. This just makes me want to drag one out & get started on it! I've built several of these kits in the past but I'd really like build another now that my skills have improved a little. Great job! Steve
  10. Sorry Cliff. I may not have been clear. The Challenger I was refering to was a "new" one. I did a little research & found that they only offered that color in 2010 & called it "Furious Fuschia". I had seen a few pics online & since then, I've only seen one in person painted that color. Steve
  11. Very nice Tom! Most people don't quite have the stomach for this color but I love it! I actually saw a new Challanger in this color a couple of years back. I think it may have been a limited edition color because I haven't seen one since. The Dodge equivilent was of course "Panther Pink". (at least in the early 70s it was) The Challanger had the white interior also with pink piping. Very cool! Nice job!! Steve
  12. Nice job Emmanuel! I've never bought an R&R kit. Mostly because I've heard a lot of horror stories about them. But, I guess if you're looking for truly unique subject matter, resin is the only choice & these guys do provide that service. Good job on this one! Steve
  13. Nice variation on a theme Tulio! The side pipes & wire wheels are a nice touch. I love wires & use them a lot on my builds as well. One of these in a nice 2-tone would have been a real treat! Great job on all three! You're a regular master!! Steve
  14. This one's much more to my liking Tulio! Don't get me wrong, They're all beautiful, but stock is the way I like them. & that black paint? OOOOHH, nice!! Steve
  15. Tulio, Your paint jobs always amaze me! They're almost "too" perfect! Are you sure you're not "re-touching" your photos? Wonderful work!! Steve
  16. I can't imagine why you'd want t re-do yours Froghawk! It's gorgeous just the way it is. Wouldn't change a thing! Steve
  17. This is an original AMT annual Jeff. As far as I know, only produced in 1960. Although some of these old kits did get re-popped as "Junior Craftsman" kits in later years, I don't think this is one of them. Steve
  18. A little more progress on my '60 Edsel build. Finished up the polishing & got a good start on the foil. Also got a start on the interior. I lightened up the body color wit a little bit of silver for the dash & steering wheel then custom mixed some flat enamel to match & contrast the dash, all shades of brown. got the lighter of the colors on & will do the darker color tonight. All to be coated with pearl clear to finish. It's getting there! Steve
  19. I'll bet there's not alot of "Pinto" left in either one of them. Steve
  20. Wow Bernard! That's a kick in the.....you know what! This kind of thing is always my nightmare. After lovingly massaging a build for many hours, something like this happens. Oh well, I guess we have to move on. What a bummer!! Steve
  21. Perfect color as far as I'm concerned Tommy! The more "unusual" the better I always say. Steve
  22. I'll bet everybody has at least one of these in their stash. When I get to mine, it's going to be painted "Silver Mocha" & "Colonial White". Good Job on an ancient kit Ron! Steve
  23. Boy! There's one you don't see every day! Nice save Alan! I know Revell, Johan & Hubley did some of these wagons & 4 door kits. But this one has got to be up there with the rarest of the rare! Steve
  24. It is a very nice build Tim! You did a fantastic job! Every time I see one of these "monstrosities" driving around, all I can do is shake my head. There's no accounting for taste I guess. But a Pinto......Well, what else can you do with a Pinto. Other than use it for kindeling! Steve
  25. Agreed Mark. I'll save the "slicing & dicing" for more easily replaceable kits. I just have this thing in the back of my mind that tells me that these old annuals are a tiny piece of history & should be concerved rather than "bashed". They're far too rare as is. Besides, maybe some day when I've moved on to that great hobby shop in the sky, some other fanatical hobbiest will acquire my old kits & re-do them to his liking. So in a way, I become immortal! Steve
