  1. Thanks again guys!
  2. It is a two piece grill and is also open, should look real nice when finished.
  3. Thanks Carl. I added some 55 Chevy style turn signals and it really help fill things in.
  4. I tried that first Tom, looked like a Chrysler product!
  5. You need to calm down!
  6. Dave, does this mean you'll be finishing one soon!
  7. I sorry, I must have fallen asleep. What was this topic about? Oh yeah NAPCAR, great way to relax on a Sunday afternoon. The new cars won't change a thing, TV was the best and the worst thing to happen to stock car racing! Congress has even given them huge tax breaks. http://usgovinfo.about.com/b/2010/12/24/congress-gives-nascar-a-40m-tax-break.htm
  8. Well this morning I wasn't as thrilled with the grill as before. So a little cut here, fitment there and a few parts from a Corvette... Still a'bit rough, but I like it better. What'a think?
  9. Perdy!
  10. Amazicaly imagineered and executed skillful building!
  11. Smoooooooooooooth! Very nice, Tom. Those colors look well together.
  12. Thanks guys, I'm already liken this one a lot myself! Here is what I came up with sofar, 55 Chevy pick up grill and bumper I found in the PB and instead of going crazy with the tail lights I just added a little molded in visor. The stock lights should fit right inside. Albie, the hub caps are from the same truck kit. The tires are from an old 60 Impala kit I believe. There's much more sanding to do, but not as much as John T's "Freak Show"
  13. You can count on it, Tim!
  14. Here is another custom from my bench. Starting with an AMT '51 Chevy Bel Air, kit #T295. I chopped the top about 3 scale inches. I decided to cut the roof at the mold seam line so as not to lose the shape where the roof meets the body. The front was cut mid "A" pillar. I also added 57 Chevy headlight extensions. Most of the trim has to go, including the windows. On the left side I have drawn a line for a two tone paint scheme and the right shows a chrome trim reference. Not sure which one yet and still need to work out the tail lights and a couple other dozen things! I'm pretty sure on bumpers, but not the grill. I like to brace things while sanding, the styrene in the front is temporary. Any way thanks for looking, J2.
  15. I have most the pieces to build some thing like this. I have another project going now but may add this to the short list. Thanks for posting the picture Tim.
  16. Thank you again guys. I enjoyed this build.
  17. Yes Gary, it's in the first post. Thanks for looking.
  18. Thanks Mike.
  19. This one is all done and can be seen in the under glass section, thanks.
  20. John, I have not said much during this build, mainly because I'm still trying to get my head around all those body mods! Your doing a great job and it looks like you got your work cut out. Happy sanding...
  21. Thank you kindly guys. And yes the front left is in the air and he's dig'n for the finish line.
  22. Thank you guys for the kind words and comments. I had thought of the splatter, but did not want to over do it. This represents a dry track newly raced car. But I have dirtied them up before!
  23. Just finished this up last night, painted the base this morning. I'm calling it "Up on the Wheel", kinda like a last lap turn four theme. This started with a Baldwin Motion body and front clip, some resin parts and some parts from the stash. Plenty of body mods and scratch building with a light touch of weathering. Tamiya paint, swap meet ddecals and some water colors. The base is painted grey as to not detract from the car and I was trying to stay away from the diorama class. Hope you like it. Here is a link the build, http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w184/fredjames_2007/Dirt%20Late%20Model/
  24. Some aero must have been involved. If you look at old pictures of these Dirt cars, there was nothing symmetrical about them. I thin they would just cover what felt right. After that it was follow the winner! You know what I mean?
  25. Thanks Christian, here are a few progress pictures. Reshaped sprint car driver, just hand painted best as I could. Added a clear styrene visor and some tape seat belts. I'll be adding some more details and then the body, that should finish it up.
