Bronco to go under cover….
James2 replied to James2's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I've been patiently letting the paint and 2x clear cure on the Bronco, hoping to finish the interior paint this week and begin final detail and assembly this weekend. I have run head on into a dilemma though. I recently realized that the Plastic undercover show is the day after we were to leave on vacation. While we don't necessarily need to leave that Friday it makes things a lot busier than I care to be. I won't be broken hearted either way, since than idea is to build models for the enjoyment.... -

Cool project, can't go wrong with fast Elco. Your craftsmanship is showing thru nicely.... -
Definitely looking like the 1:1, nice work.

That flower isn't quite big enough to cover everything. Said my 8yr old....

Very Kool, I like the looks of this. Do you have pix of the 1/25 scale printed version?

My mind went directly there....

It’s been real hot and humid here, no chance of painting anything. Thankfully the basement is cool and dry. So I’ll wait on the Bronco and work on the wagon. Shaving, smoothing and shaping. Now that the roof is good I’ll move onto the rest of the body.

Thanks, I'm happy with the way the chop turned out so far. I need to continue smoothing the seams and then, weather permitting, shoot some primer. I do see some faded lace in the roof's future!

I tried this Tamiya Putty and find it much better than Squadron or Automotive Spot Putty. It’s easier to apply and sands so much nicer than anything I’ve used before. Body work is going well, priming up next.

Body work on the roof continues and I added a full length package shelf. I wanted to keep the original alignment pins for the chassis.

Right out of the 90's, great looking Street Rod. And my favorite Boyd color too!

The finished model is under glass, the bike comes with the new 29 pick up.

Some filler and a quick mock up, added some pins to help hold things in place. I will not be shortening this, it’s called a long roof for a reason!

Inspiration: I saw a 64 wagon converted to a two door and thought this would be an interesting twist. Donor kits starting with an AMT 64 Impala SS and a 65 Chevelle Wagon. I first cut the long roof off and after several test fits I then removed the Impala roof to graft the two pieces together.

Sunday rainy Sunday, some little bits and details. Seats, belts, brake master cylinder and new hood supports. I guess the color is obvious. -

Working on hood supports and chassis assembly. I’ll need to use brass rod for the support the styrene gives to much. Chassis detail to follow…. -
Interested in your thoughts on Splash Paints. I have been using them myself lately.

Nice looking Stang! Did you clear coat? Splash?
