  1. I have been building just for myself as of late, I find my bench time to be a means of escape. Kind of like being in the ZONE, I can put aside any number of life duties and just get lost in the moment. Like any form of art, the creating of something inspired by the mind and/or the heart is an accomplishment that brings joy, or at least happiness. If one is lucky, to find friendship along the way, then they have really accomplished something.
  2. This is looking really nice, your attention to detail is a reminder to not give up on the small stuff.
  3. Nice and cleanly done....
  4. We can find ourselves in negative thinking or down right complainers at times. Here's your chance to express why you take part in this hobby. What do you enjoy and what keeps you motivated?
  5. I thought it is a repo, but don’t really know the history. I will say it’s bit rough, very small and finicky pieces. I’ve had to redesign the assembly to make it work my way. There is a discussion somewhere here…
  6. I agree with you, especially the online part. Most everyone in this group is considerate. It seems like FB is full of some bad groups and even show venders can be a bit grumpy. I certainly have reduced my circle of friends over the years. As far as skin goes, mine has become like shoe leather. I suppose it’s all part of the experience!
  7. The most annoying thing in this hobby is the inability for some people to keep their opinions to themselves. Unsolicited input on a public venue is one of the worst. Me personally, I find the amount of rudeness by fellow builders is astonishing. All of the small nuisances that come from kit manufacture can be overcome, but the unkindness of people may cause some to depart the hobby. IMO
  8. That's a great looking model. I really enjoyed watching those series back then. Thanks for sharing it Mark!
  9. Eric Ritz built a 1/25 bike with metal wheels but I don’t know where they came from. I made a velocity stack and worked on the exhaust today. Getting ready to prime. I like a single headlight and found spotlight in my spare parts that works just fine.
  10. It's a tiny mockup, the California Chopper from Revell's 29 Ford PU.
  11. Some bench time this afternoon. Keeping with my own imagineered assembly, I made a bushing and axel so to install the wheel after the frame halves are glued. Did some adjusting to the springer and sanded the putty filler. Did I mention how small and finicky this thing is!
  12. This is one of those questions that can have as many deferent answers as replies. I have had silk smooth finishes with enamels, lacquers, 2x clear and urethanes. I have also had pebbled finishes using all of the above! My suggestion is, try several and find something you're comfortable with and then hone your skills and technique. Practice makes perfection, prep is your friend, climate is important and a safe place to cure is best. My basics... Prep and wash, dry. I like to airbrush. I use a booth as much as possible. I try to plan the day ahead of time, stay relaxed and take my time. I use the kitchen oven with the light on (only) to cure. Best to leave a sticky note on the door. I don't handle the parts for as long as possible. And yet after hundreds of models I still get a stinker sometimes. It's all part of the experience!
  13. Haven't seen one of these in a minute, but as a child I thought it was cool....
  14. Well now would ya look at that, would ya just look at it! The more I look the more I find to like, from the head lights and coil overs, radi cap and engine detail. To the visor, ribbed roof, canted chop, filler cap and those great looking shoes, splendid, just SPLENDID. Nicely done....

    63 Nova Wagon

Great looking long roof, very clean and the chrome work is spot on. Nicely done!
  16. NE OHIO, Bi-polar weather mostly grey and 40ish today. In honor of Sherwin Williams new tower headquarters, they have come out with a new color called Ohio.
  17. It is the bike from that kit. The Springer front end is a challenge but hopefully it will turn out.
  18. Well just when ya think ya seen it all, somebody goes off and tries something different!
  19. Thanks Alan, I use Oven Cleaner, the real brand not the knock off. It does a great job for me. Here’s a small update I filled the sink marks in the rocker boxes, aka Panhead and the back bone of the frame. This thing is so small holding and sanding is challenging. Next I started cleaning up the Springer front end. This kits fork leg was not molded correctly and they were bent badly. I ended up modifying the axle spacer and engineering my own assembly order. Having built several large scale bike kits and a few 1:1 bike helps.
  20. If your interested, I started a thread on the chopper build.
