  1. Hi all well I've tried a little experiment, I got some copper and brass leaf with the intention of guilding the copper plates and spraying it with salt water to get the patination of the real plates, well they dissolved so that's out so now I'm thinking I will guild it then distress it with a combination of washes and such my question is ( as there is some debate as to weather it was copper or muntz metal which is an alloy of zinc and brass I think) should I guild it with copper or brass.
  2. Hi all here is the next update, most of the deck colour is done with pastels
  3. Your lines are sagging due to uneven tightness, and can if not very carefull get increasingly worse, bees wax will help to stiffen the tread (making the sagging less noticeable) (also eliminating, later on the thread getting all fluffy) the only real way to avoid it is to be very careful with your tieing, I find superglue invaluable for this (no need to tie ) I just put a dab of superglue where the final tieoff is and just lay the line on it where till there is no sag in the line, leave it there for a few seconds then after its sett tie it off. I don't want to sound like I know anything, it's just what's easiest for me, it's what I used on the La Reale and the Royal Sovriegn.
  4. Hi all well since I'm having a rest from the darn Citroen I need something to fall back on (this addiction will be the death of me)I thought what be better than this,TBH I've been looking forward to this since I was kindly given it (I just hope I can do it justice)
  5. Hi all here is tonights update
  6. Hi guys weathered the wheels, not done much to the spare as I figure that wouldnt have much weathering
  7. Hi all well I wont be giving this to my daughter. I will be glueing it together to finish it but after the third stripping and respray (must be something in the grey primer (its the only thing I cant get off (Ive used oven cleaner, break fluid, nitromors))) The missus says dont be such a perfectionist she wont notice, you all know what I say to that.
  8. should anyone think this is nearing completion here is a shot of the spures left(I've removed the optional parts) so these all still need to be attatched.
  9. Hi all well you must be getting bored by now (I know I am)
  10. Thanks for that mate. Hi all well its that time of year again, as little aside from the model got the decs up today I decided the technique I used on the dent in the tank of the Honda I would use it here aswell seems like sacralige, the chrome on the radiator grill is so exquisite. but would be out of place on this car, and the rust devils been about again
  11. does anyone know where I can get some decent pics of the dash in these as I want to weather it and cant find any decent pics, here is what I have at the moment.
  12. Hi all here is another installment
  13. hi all here is yet another update
  14. hi all here is tonights update, I realise the windscreen needs work but its my first effort at doing glass. does the bird poo look effective
  15. Hi all well I'm sure you must be getting bored of this by now (I know you're all so polite you wont say so) so I'll take advantage of your good nature and continue the onslaught.
  16. Hi all I was checking some of the pictures, one advantage of that is looking at pictures of things 2 and sometimes 3 times bigger than the actual thing you see faults you wouldnt see on the actual item, like for instance a lot of the flat areas of rust are, just that flat, no blistering and no reason to be rust coloured, so I,ve fixed that and dulled the doors and bodywork down and started blending panels and adding general grime (I must say I'm quite pleased with the results so far) if things carry on like this I think the finished thing will look quite realistic (of course having said that I will no probably go and ruin it) does anyone know how to dull down and dirty the windows and windscreen? all tip welcome.
  17. Hi all well after a disasterous reaction on the paintwork on this I've sorted it (will never be a great job but is ok as an old jalopy) did a bit more staining of the doors and the bodywork and added some rust effects to the black paintwork, still a long way to go on it but is starting to look better now.
  18. Can't wait till after Christmas as it's supposed to be a present (pretty poor present)
  19. Hi all well since the citroen is now probably bin fodder I thought I better get on with this (plus christmas is round the corner) (actually I think I ought to give up modelling, I'm obviously BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH at it) I know the canvas bit looks as though it dosn't fit but when taped in it all fits makes no difference anyway I'm getting fed up of always ruining models.
  20. Hi all well started with some colour, you may notice not the colour I originally stated as I've given up on Citroen giving me the code (so now of course I will have to change the carpet colour :mad:) anyhoo here is the start of the rusting (lots more work to be done on it, but I think its a good starting point)
  21. blimy you've done a lot since I last looked in, wow, personally I think this is an amazing kit, you're reminding me of how much I enjoyed it, a word of warning do not attempt to turn it over with the wheels,it puts a lot of strain on the crank and will end up with the crank pinging off and having to find all the parts and fix thdm, only turn it over with the flywheel.
  22. Test fit of the doors. the doors have working hinges and door handles (Yep they have working latches)
  23. Hi all been adding some of the many wires and cables to the engine bay.
  24. Hi all here is tonights update.
