I really want to know the story behind this lol
-
Ok, small update. I'm not able to post my updates directly after I made the photos due to a problem with my network provider, so it's a day late. I wanted to do something different with the hood, but I couldn't get it to fit right in the stock place. I've seen a picture online of a Challenger that had the hoos opening to the front, so I went to work on trying that. It isn't the most beautiful mod I did, especially on the underside but as with all of the things I did, it needs finetuning.
-
Brizio, I'm still making up my mind on that, might go red with black stripes or bright green with white stripes. Or I might go with something completely different.
-
Ok, let's see if there's still interest in this one... I've roughed in the trunk floor, sides, wheelwells and mounting place for the air ride tank, still need to find a place to put the compressor though. Also, I've placed a couple of small, thin plastic strips to the underside of the body where the bootlid rests. It needs a whole lot of work before I can go on to the rest of the interior though. Cleanup on the body where I made some mistakes with cutting out the doors and such.

Ok, here's what I've done today. redid the wheelwells, didn't think they looked right. I happened to have some other type of plastic laying around. Also, I cut out the remaining part of the rear seat, and made room for one in the center between the tubs. Still need to fabricate the doorjams, that's for tomorrow. Lucas.

Update time! I really wanted to try my hand at hinging the doors and bootlid, so I started cutting them out. I made a couple of small mistakes that need filling with some putty, but other than that I'm fairly pleased with the results. I still need to clean up the cuts a bit, more on that later. Lucas.

A retirement coming in the aftermarket!
Lucas van H replied to Art Anderson's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
After 35 years doing this, I only find it fair that they want to enjoy their retirement. I have never ordered from them but from what I hear around here, their quality is great. Might have to do some last minute shopping. -
Thanks Ace! I must say, when I had the tires under it at the mockup, I didn't know for sure if I was going to use these but since the other set I have is too small (diameter and width) for my liking, I went with these.

Hi guys. I had 2 kits left from last Christmas that I haven't been able to build due to how little bench time I have had since then. I've recently aquired a mill and I've been slowly hacking away to get to know the machine. Anyways, I'm going off track. I chose the Challenger because I wanted to do a kit a bit different. I had a couple of 1:24th scale die cast laying around doing nothing, so I decided to strip them and use the parts I could. On this one, I really wanted the wheels and parts of the interior. Also, I'm going to try to fabricate most of the other parts myself. I've already tried my hand at the valvecovers, but I might do those again. Color scheme isn't clear at the moment, but I'd like to make it as flashy as possible but yet keep it as stylish as I can. On to the pictures then: Photo makes the wheels look worse than they really are... Need to mini tub the rear to make them fit Close, but no cigar Now it's looking more like it! Here's how much I had to remove to get those monsters tucked under there More coming up as I get back to work on this. Lucas

The building crossed the road, I had no way to avoid it!

What did you see on the road today?
Lucas van H replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw this outside our local DIY store. 383 Stroker with a whole lot of goodies! -
Thanks for the heads up! I'm not sure if I'm going to build it, leave it sitting or sell/trade it. if there's anyone interested in a trade, pm me.

Hmmmmm, what could this be ?
Lucas van H replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Call me weird, but I kinda like it! Front end looks a bit like the Infiniti M50. -
Yep, parts are bronze. I'll take inside pics when I get home. If you don't mind me asking, what is special about the bronze color of the plastic?

Some military vehicles, got some spare change ?
Lucas van H replied to Greg Myers's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
If I had enough money, I'd like to have the '52 Dodge M-37, just to find out where I would park it since the garages are waaay too narrow and low to fit anything bigger than a Mazda Miata... -
Bought this at a second hand store here in town, it's started and small parts are painted, but the bodyparts are all bare plastic. Not a bad deal for 20 bucks huh?

Didn't notice that, too busy staring at the car figuring out what it possibly could be

Mine is lucas_van_h. I'm not a regular uploader though.

Picked up my delayed birthday present today. I was looking for a mini mill for a while now, and I found this at a store in my area. Now to get some material locally

This one looked familiar to me, but I couldn't find what it was. Closest thing I found was a Simca 1000 ?

Datsun 240zg. In no way shape or form is this stumps build?
Lucas van H replied to lanesteele240's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks good! I might have missed this, but are you building it as a race car or more of a street car? -
Our cat Lizzy always wants to see what's happening, nosy little cat. Anyways, I was in the process of hanging the doors on my Thunderbird, glued the brackets on the inside of the body in place, let it dry and put the doors in place. Cat comes along, looks at the model, looks at me and wipes it off of my bench, before looking at me with a smug face like "Whaddaya gonna do?". Lesson learned: Keep the cat away from the workbench

and you thought they were only at WalMart
Lucas van H replied to Greg Myers's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
At least that one has wheels ? -
How much are you willing to pay ?
Lucas van H replied to Krazy Rick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kit prices around here are roughly 30,-, or about $35,- for the Revell kits, and about 45,- for the curbside Aoshima and Fujimi kits... You do the math... I try to order as much as possible online now, mostly from Germany or Japan. And when I do I make sure to order multiple kits in one go. -
When do you open your kits?
Lucas van H replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In the parking lot of the store. I'm just like a little kid, and I want to see what I got right away
