Interior is complete! There is almost too much detail on this kit. Someone could spend hours on the interior alone. I have all the outside chrome put on, now I am just working with the windows and I am hoping it will be done tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Comments welcomed.

I had started working on this one before I was sidetracked by the 60 Impala. Finally got the door panels and flooring done and now I can concentrate on getting to completed. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

Interior done! (Except for the dash.) Engine done! Since I had a boo boo in the paint on the passenger side, I decided to hide it by putting on the flame decals! . It's coming along pretty good. Thanks for looking and all comments.

I have the interior painted and sitting in the body, now it sits like it did when it was red. Valve covers from AMT 57 Pepper shaker, air cleaner from the new release Revell 60 Impala. Yes, they make aluminum heads for the 409/348 now adays. Custom bucket seats are from the AMT 40 Ford sedan delivery. Thanks for looking.

It was pointed out that the nose sat a bit too high, and I agreed. In fact, the whole model sat too high, so I removed some of the screw mounting in the back and took out the engine bay to see if that would allow it to sit better, I think we got a winner here now! I will need to modify the height of the engine bay to get it to fit properly. The frame, just your basic AMT 67 Impala frame. Close up of the engine bay, or the problem area. Newly revised ride height. Thanks for looking, comments welcomed.

I started this one way back in 2009, I painted it with a large can of red paint but decided I didn't like that color. I dragged it out today and did a quick color change using Tamiya TS-11 maroon. Before and after shots. I discovered I have another 60 in the box that I want to paint turquoise, so instead of repainting the wheels again, I borrowed them from this project car. Thinking about what to do with the project car, I shot it TS-11 maroon and put some tires and wheels on it from the Revell 59 Corvette kit. Plans call for a grey interior and bucket seats and center console from the parts car AMT 67 SS 427 kit. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

Update on this project, I have the suspensions installed on the frame and the interior bucket sanded down to fit the AMT 67 floorboards. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

It works! The scary part was cutting out the floor pan on the interior, that was the point of no return. However, with some adjustments I think I can get it to fit really well. While I'm at it, how about poise-able steering as well :-) Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

While working on my AMT 67 SS 427, I had a thought, I wonder if the frame would fit the MPC 68 convertible? So instead of the quick build with all stock MPC parts, I went out and got another AMT 67 SS 427 kit to rob the floor, engine, frame, and fender wells from. Well, I think it will!

I decided to get some better pictures of this (with my iPhone!) to share. This build has held up pretty well considering I built it in 1995! Painted Testors' sky blue with a clear coat. All enamels I believe. I had not heard of Tamiya paint, and just did discover BMF, what a time capsule! Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

Go ahead, I will not be offended :-) I know that I don't have the black painted in the chrome stripe down the sides. I tried it and could not do it with the equipment I have now. I may try later with a thinner pen.

Started in 2011, not touched since 2013, I think it might be time to finish this, what do you all think? This is how it was on Wednesday. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

The paint is Testors' Purplicious one coat with Testor's wet look clear.

I discovered the SS decals fit on the wheels, so I used them!

Lessons learned on my first time, keep it simple. Single color interior, have EVERYTHING in the box or within reach. I spent about an hour total looking for stuff I decided I needed to add. Do a simple tire/wheel change if your going to do that. I spent probably 40 minutes getting those Aoshima wheels, tires, and brakes adapted to the Impala. Perhaps the Impala was not the best kit to select, lots of little parts and loads of opportunity to do detailing ate up time. However, my total build time for this model was, 20 hours, so If I could have worked right on through, I might have gotten it done. I had loads of fun though, and that is what counts.

Fantastic looking interior! You nailed that so good, I thought it was a real one at first! Now that you have built this yellow one I'm going to have to pick a different color for mine!

Hi, and thank you all for the great comments. Yes, the engine block came in the kit, but the intake, carbs, and valve covers came from the AMT 62 Bel Air kit. The header type exhaust manifolds came in the Revell 65 Impala convertible kit as well. While I'm at it, the wheels came from the AMT 63 Impala kit while the tires are from later AMT kits like the 67 Mustang.

After 17 years, this one finally got dragged over the finish line today. Painted Auto touch up Ultra Marine blue with Kens fuzzy fur carpet and white plastic seats. Thanks for looking.
