Return it. If you had it custom mixed, you probably paid a pretty penny for the stuff and have the right to expect it will work as advertised. Take it back and make them replace it.

resin 55 chevy AWB?
Snake45 replied to nitro_force_fan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you can't find a resin body, it shouldn't be too hard to AWB a '55 Chev body yourself. I'm thinking of doing a '57 AWB and looking for a resin body never occurred to me. -
1/25 AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina Polyglas Gasser II
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I believe it happened whenever they could get away with it. And even in a few cases when they maybe shouldn't have, such as MPC poorly and incorrectly updating the '68 Camaro and Firebird molds into the '69s. -
What would YOU like to see as a model
Snake45 replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah , those might qualify. The Dodge WC weapons carrier series might work well for all three. (Well, basically it's just a Jeep all grown up.) I'd do one of those in 1/25 as a hot rod or surf wagon. There's a fairly famous photo of one of the WWII German aces--it might have been Pips Priller--with his sports car, IIRC a BMW. I can see that working in all three scales, especially if the 1/35 one were a bit closer to 1/32. Found the pic: -
I lay out the new line with tape. I usually use masking tape razor-cut into thin strips, sometimes two or three thick for a bit of an edge. Chartpak/drafting tape is also good for this. I'll start by scribing the new line in using a semi-sharp (not new, or razor-sharp) Xacto blade, working gently, slowly, and carefully. After two or three passes like this, I remove the tape and start using the back side of the blade to deepen the line. It can take many, many passes or only a few, depending on the effect I want. Again, work slowly, gently, and carefully. If a scribing pass goes astray, work it from the OTHER direction, as whatever made you "color outside the line" will be even worse the next pass, now with a fresh groove to follow. Errant scratches--and you ARE going to have a few, especially in the beginning--can be filled with superglue. Hope this helps.

1/25 AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina Polyglas Gasser II
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Does the new kit still have all the Super Duty parts, including the slicks? I like the retro box and whatnot but would be mainly interested in building a drag stocker or FX. -
I saw those yesterday. Look pretty nice. If I had any interest in the subject matter, I'd have gotten one, but I have no interest in a stock '52 Bug and the effort to build one "my way" starting with a diecast exceeds my interest in THAT project. But for those interested, take a look--they look pretty good. (M2 stuff is pretty decent and worth the price--I have two of their '69 Camaros and three of their '65-'66 Mustang fastbacks.)

Never heard that ever. Although you did occasionally hear "It's a gas" for something good. (Reference the Michael Jagger Orchestra.) -
What would YOU like to see as a model

Interesting analysis. Now, the thing is to come up with subjects that would be of wide interest to auto, armor, and aircraft modelers. Jeeps of various vintages, for sure. Maybe a few types of carefully selected trucks. What else? -

Agree completely. If they really wanted to be cruel about it, they'd do it as a Sedan Delivery so to do a stock SD or a gasser sedan, you'd have to buy both kits and kitbash. This would bother me not at all as I would LOVE to do both a gasser sedan and a stock-ish Sedan Delivery. -
Yes, I know. They're the wheels on the green '63 Vette resto I posted above.

Last night I was looking in an unbuilt AMT annual '64 Corvette Coupe kit and discovered wheels identical to the ones in the original post. The instruction sheet identifies them as "Winfield Tera-Thrusts." They also have optional knock-offs.

Question about an AMT single axle trailer
Snake45 replied to VW93's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Okay, pulled the kits and checked and you're right. Astonishingly, the hole patterns ARE different between the two. Also, one of them has a little domed "nub" on the topside of the hitch post (I think it was the roadster), the other one doesn't. And, coincidentally, remember a few weeks back you were looking for particular front wheels on a Willys (IIRC) gasser? They're in the '64 Coupe kit, exactly like the ones in your original photo. And they're identified on the instruction sheet as "Winfield Tera-Thrust." The roadster kit has completely different custom wheels. -
Wow, I think I like it better than the original!

Question about an AMT single axle trailer
Snake45 replied to VW93's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Casey, I think there might be a "camera trick" involved there, as the photo of the roadster has the frame upside down. Maybe we're just not seeing a hole or two. At any rate, I'm pretty sure I have mint unbuilt copies of both kits. I'll try to check them in the flesh this weekend and see if I can confirm your observation...or not. -

Haven't been there in a while but I used to be an active member. Good bunch of guys over there, very knowledgable and serious about drag modeling. -
You won't see another Shelby in THAT color! Your background is outstanding, too. Well done and model on!
-
Very nice, very clean, very smooth! I had my first real '69 Camaro painted almost that exact color, so you know I like the color. Well done and model on!
-
Now there's one you don't see every day! Nicely done!

Different and interesting!

Put me down for about half a dozen! -
Very, VERY sharp model. I saw this car in the summer of 1968. Come to think of it, it might have been his '68 car. Would that have been built by that time? Either way, I recognized the name immediately! Well done!
