After looking at the model posted in another thread of the beautiful and superb Jaguar XKE racing lightweight prototype, I present you my unfortunate attempt and effort at modeling the famous CUT-7 Lowdrag Jaguar XKE racer....oh, boy...this model of mine is really a bad one!! I started this project about 15 years ago...with great expectations and hopes for a nice replica of the actual car,CUT-7, but because of lack of visual information..wich now is PLENTY in the web and a superb new book about the "specials XKE racers" now for sale...my effort turn out to be quite a poor one..in a LOT of ways and details of the real car, the doors profile is wrong, the back glass area is wrong profile also, the paint finish have a lot to be desire...in fact have suffered a bit after this project have been discarded under a old t-shirt in a shelf in the "may be I will finish this thing one day" level. Anyway...the effort itself have some good things..in my very personal opinion..I did scrachtbuilt the four "racing Dunlop" wheels and also thw back wider tires, new headers, hood longer louvers, cockpit detail and driver side change from left to right among other small things...but again, not much to save this unfortunate model attempt.

WOW......this IS truly an impresive conversion and build.....BRAVO!!!..., I "tried" to do one of the low drag lightweights XKE with this same Revell kit, the CUT-7 car, but never was very happy with the end result or fidelity to the real car, your superb build have inspire me to finish it even with it's faults...well, will try to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again magnificent build.

Model Factory Hiro 1953 ferrari 500 f2 update 2
Plasticfanatic replied to The Phenom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Must say that this is truly a magnificent build and superb work in detailing of a quite difficult and expensive model...as all HIRO kits seems to be!!, as very well said by fellow forum members, the result shown here is the result of a LOT of work and a master touch by the builder. Fred -
Bob, beautiful models, looking forward to see the R.M. Camaro in all it's finished glory.

worlds most expensive model
Plasticfanatic replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting article, thanks for posting. But in my very personal taste and appreciation, for much, much less than that I could have several models made by great scale model car artisans in the traditional manner and amazing full detail by the greats Gerald Wingrove,Michele Conti and Manuel Olive Sans...these by no means are cheap as they go from $20,000 and up....but what masterpiece they are!! This Lambo model is an impresive model in it's real carbon fiber look and the modeler/artisan did a great job in capturing the lines and looks of the real car, but take away the presius metals and stones and the price will drop like a rock in a pond and there not to much to look at in terms of detail/replication in scale of the real car like engine, suspension, etc. -

IPMS model contest eureka mo was a joke!
Plasticfanatic replied to 71drolds's topic in Contests and Shows
Interesting topic about IPMS, over here in P.R. the IPMS event is heavy in the model car (favorite subject of the local modelers) area followed by the model airplanes and military miniatures, the judges/organizers ask the modeler if he want the model pick up by a judge or the owner of the model for inspection...but is not obligatory, you can choose not to, but it can hurt you in the final 'points" desision some times and even more if is a heavily contested category. I know several of the organizers of the local IPMS which are great model builders, they are mostly in the military arena but have made a good effort of expand and support the model car/hot rod/muscle car/custom categories and they try to have judges that know about cars...real and models...and that they can detect or understand all the modifications/scrachtbuilding in the model been inspected.....that sometimes the judges have personal preferences, likes or dislikes...of course...but again, it also happens a lot of times in the real car shows!!! That there are problems or diferences of opinions in the way the models are judge, of course they are, and some times the winning model in one VERY PERSONAL opinion and view should have been the second or third place winner and not the first place, but again once one goes to any contest, one have to respect the desision of the judges on their final choices, thats is something I always have very clear in the rare times I attend model shows here, for me is usualy hanging out with fellow model builders friends, see their great work and get some inspiration or solution for a next project, for me a medal or trophy is just an added bonus, if I win, great if I don't...great to. I am not a member of IPMS-USA or my local chapter or any other club for that matter, I just enjoy building models that I like,to my taste and that I will enjoy looking at for a very long time, sharring them with fellow modelers and have a good time in my passtime...that for me is 'the best in show" prize, that's is in my VERY,VERY personal opinion of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super modification and execution, love the final result and color,

Love it!!! I to am looking forward for the 1/25 scale model to build it like yours. Super build in 1/43 scale, which by the way no matter how small the scale or year of build still looks soooo good!!!

1964 Jaguar E Type Low Drag Coupe (#17 LeMans 1964)
Plasticfanatic replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in Model Cars
Superb and beautiful build of a great looking race car...the other famous and similar car, "CUT7 Low-Drag" is another beauty in this line of low drag Jaguars but I don't think that body has been made in 1/25 or 1/24, the other one is the one that crashed and killed the pilot(Scale Kraft from S.A. did this in resin) and that now after decades the original mangled body/frame has been fully restored/refrabricated. There a new book in the market which concentrate in the history of these racing Jaguars E-Type low drags and "lightweight" editions, is a superb book with great period photos and new studio ones of the car in actuality, is a expensie book but in my personal opinion worth it. http://www.porterpress.co.uk/ultimate_e.htm -
This looks soooooo good indeed, love the look of the car and the wheel/tire combination, very nice modifications and concept looking forward to see it finished, it will be a beautiful and stunner model and something quite diferent.
-
Thank you very much, is indeed quite a lot of work and effort, but worth every minute of it since you turn out an AMAZING model(S)....again, congratulations on a SUPERB craftmanship and scale models.
-
Simply.....FANTASTIC!!! Would also love to see how do you hollow the interior of the body. Truly inspiring work.

Magnificent and superb Cobra model.....and....BEAUTIFUL of course!!! -
I have the original realesed Petty Charger...still have the kit carboard box top stored away. I built mine straight from the box and added some engine detail, as have been said before it a great replica of mid/late 1970"s NASCAR stock car, very detailed engine,chassis,drum-brakes...it even have the special Richard Petty head piece "iron" logo on top of the racing seat!! The clear body was an "issue" for some who....like myself....would like a regular solid white plastic body...the clear body never the less have the right proportions and great look of the real car...is just that is a little fragile/brittle compared with regular white styrene plastic used in the regular kits. I also have the Dukes of Hazzards Charger.....that one is, well..a marketing venture of the times when the TV series was an ongoing hit, unfortunately the body of that early Charger offering is not fully accurate, it have the "NASCAR" round oppenings in the front wheel fenders, mine was also assembled and was a little detailed,it fell out of a storage shelf, front two wheels broke off and the model have been collecting dust in a corner of my workroom ever since!!! Now, the moment the 1/16 Petty Charger is reissued, I will get at least two....one will be backdated to the 1971 body....love the look of that one....and the other will be done as one of the many diferent small diferent detail versions he raced, so it can keep company to my original build...which is nothing great but still one of my favorites!!....LONG LIVE THE KING!!!
