Master 1:12 Scratchbuilder
Plasticfanatic replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This are one of the most stunning model projects I have ever seen, even his cardboard midel is stunning!!! The superb detail on the Avanti and Toronado is simply spectacular and the interior detail, fit and finish..MAGNIFICENT!!! they look like the real thing, looking at the Toronado leather seat work is a tour of force by it's own. Hope a book is published on this Master Craftman gentleman showing in more detail his works and technique. -
I am almost done with my scale model of Animal Jim Zephyr Pro Mod car....but still crossing my fingers that someone do a decal set with the gold lettering found on the car. Is anyone planning or are doing these?...appreciate the help! Fred

Yes they do...the metal body series of Pocher which are the Ferraris, wish that they have made them like all the other Pocher regular 1/8 kit line of classics...plastic bodys, Making body mods. would have been much more easy in term of cutting and blending, my very personal opinion of course, hey they did the Porsche in plastic which I think it was Pocher last model offering before going out of business. Their metal body paint jobs are sooooo bad and fragile mainly because they seem to have painted over the bare diecast metal...no primer...at least not echtching metal primer, even a small preassure on a metal part a A BIG chunk of paint will come off. I remember when Model Expo Co. was selling their "overstock" of the Pocher Ferrari line, you could have the F40 or Testarossa for only $199 in monthly payments!!!......and of course in the same BIG kit line the Nichimo Yamato Battleship in 1/200 scale for $149..now try to find a mint unbuilt Pocher for less than $800 and the battleship for less than $300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the transkit the one that include the racing OZ wheels and racing slicks? WOW...if these are again available will order one, have one of these Pocher F40 that want to build into one of the F40LM version or GT class racing configuration. Knowing your attention to detail and accuracy and with the amazing Autograph transkit this new project of yours will be another scale masterpiece.

Magnum4342 and Futurebat, you are correct all the way, I made the mistake because of the same body style for 1971/72 as said by Magnum4342.

Looks great and as said by fellow forum member, not an easy kit to build and paint. Your Petty Roadrunner looks also great,I have these two same Petty cars at the workbench as well as the 1971 STP Charger, hope mine turn as nice as yours.

That is truly impresive project and scrachtbuilding and will be an amazing and unique scale model once finished. Are you going to make a fully detailed model or a curbside? The level of detail in 1/6 would be amazing!!

While I wait for the paint and other details of the pro stock fairmont/Zephyr to dry and cure have started in these two other projects, the Airtrax Mirada coupe and the Revell Linconl, the Mirada will be street stock and the Linconl a semicustom, I will leave the body of the car as is since I like the look of it, the chassis is from a Monogram Mustang as is the interior to which the Revell Linconl dash and door side panels have been added. The wheels come from the Monogram Buick GNX G.N. The Mirada have a Duster chassis...the detailed one....it was an almost perfect fit, working on the interior parts that came with the body. Must give a BIG,BIG THANK YOU to forum member "BUGACE" who help me get the Mirada kit from Airtrax and save quite a few dollars on the currency exchange, paypal charges and shipping!!!

Looks great from all angles, like your concept even more than the actual racers that where design and used at the time.

Jim, Thank you very much for the pictures wich are the first ones I see upclose of the car apart from the promotional card that Wayne posted and that come up in internet search. Even if this car did not achive much is for me an important piece on the long line of Glidden cars....apart that I find the car quite good looking, it will look nice with the Motorcraft Thunderbird and 1978 Fairmont. Once more thank guys for the help and pictures.

For some time I have been looking for good visual reference of Bob Glidden 1994 Quality Care Thunderbird and the only thing I could find is some promotions cards and long distance pictures, do any one knows where I could find good detail pictures of this particular car? I want to build one in scale to make company to my other scale Glidden projects I am working on. Thanks in advance! Fred
