http://www.modelretailer.com/en/The%20Industry/Industry%20News/2011/08/iHobbyCleveland.aspx iHobby Expo moves to Cleveland Published: August 22, 2011 The Hobby Manufacturers Association has announced that the 28th annual iHobby Expo will move to The International Exposition Center (I-X Center) in Cleveland, Ohio, Oct. 11-14, 2012. HMA President Michael Bass, owner of Stevens International, said that the decision to move the expo hinged primarily on feedback from surveys of trade and exhibitor attendees. "Our surveys indicated the desire of both exhibitors and trade attendees to visit other markets and evenures to reach important retailers in all regions of the country," Bass said in a HMA press release. In the same press release, HMA Show Committee Chair Douglas Blaine (Bachmann Trains) said that the return on exhibitors' investments was "crucial" to the decision to move iHobby to another venue. "We also wish to create the same excitement and interest in model hobbies in other markets throughout the U.S.," he said. The I-X Center is near the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and hosts other shows during the year, including the Piston Power Show, featuring piston-powered vehicles. The 27th iHobby Expo is Oct. 20-23, 2011 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. -
Nice topic. The key to determined if it is a model or not is to look at the wheels and tires. The sheen and scale of wheels and tires is the most difficult to replicate on a model.

That is one of many super large size models from Don Campbell. It is a 1/3 size Cat D11. It has no engine, although a small or medium size diesel could be fitted in it.

Palmeter worked in the Technical Center in Ft. Wayne. Ertl also never re-released the Great Dane reefer trailer. Possibly due to Thermo King copy write issues. I was disappointed that Ertl offered the 9670 in 1/32nd scale. I'm sure that when it was in the process of being designed, Ertl began to fall on had times and rather than scrap the project, just offer it in a smaller less detailed format. This is just speculation on my part. Well now we have Moebius Models and they appear to the outlet for model International truck kits. Yea Moebius!

Ihobby chicago

I haven't attended the ihobby show in years. However, when Testors was the Italeri distributor, they use to announce the upcoming truck kits their. Testors being located in Rockford, Illinois. Now MRC is the US Italeri distributor, MRC being located in New Jersey, the New York Toy and Hobby show is where they have been announcing the new kits in February. May be they might have something at ihobby. Moebius announced the Lonestar kit at ihobby 2 years ago. I suspect they will announce some new truck kits their. Possibly Revell, which is located in the Chicago area might have some new information. -
This is really old news. Dave Palmeter , a retired International employee a retired International employee, who was the liaison to Ertl on the Transtar kits is a member of this board. He explained in detail the information behind the Transtar and Transtar II kits a while back. Also Dave Carey a former International employee, who offers accurate resin Intentional Items is also a member. Search the threads.

Ford C Cab 900 kit needing some info

I found out what it says. Metro Freight Systems. I saw some double trailers on Hank's Site that had Metro Freight Systems. So it is/was an actual freight company. -

New Lonestar truck

This is exactly the point! Accurate, challenging and exciting big rig truck kits can be offered today that sell and make profits for the manufacture. For years I have been writing to model comapanies about offering new truck subjects and I know for a fact that others have done the same. The cost of the Lonestar kit is not that expensive considering inflation over the last 35 years. Minimum wage in 1975, during the hey day of truck model kits was $2.10, which was about $6.10 in today's dollars. And today's kits are more detailed! -

The Ertl payhauler and Great Dane trailers weren't that bad either. Also The Revell K100 cabover and Peterbilt 359 were winners too. -
