  1. So to get that Silly Putty trick to work you have to heat it to get it to flow into desired areas? I heard the use of Silly Putty, but have NEVER attempted it yet! Can you "keep" the Silly Putty after using it as a mask tho? Or is tossed out?
  2. Randy, yeah, I just got myself into adding that insulation, a lot of guys don't BUT because of the build and the meaning pushing me to keep going and adding as much detail as I can (its a "Family Build") which I wanna attempt to incorporate as much detail as I can.... Kinda like my "Father & Son" Dodge truck build in the truck area.... same thing! These family models I'm doing are of those I remember growing up and with that will have a "set" when I'm all done.... -I got a few of those models WIP but I have a BUNCH of the Family Builds waiting for their turn right now! I got a couple builds going all at once tho.... this one, my Doomz Day monster truck build, and my Rosco cop car..... Speaking of that I ought to be able to get the finals done on the white paint of Rosco's police car body...... I'm trying to get it "done" so to use the decals that came with the kit before they go bad on me.....
  3. Chris, NICE work on that trailer!!!! Thing really looks the part! This is the same trailer thats gonna have the clear sides, right? (Like a display case) -I have that AMT kit, and I'm trying to figure out, if it will hold a muscle car (I'm not if its big enough for that!) BUT I wanna use it to haul a '70 Dodge Coronet R/T in when that cars done!
  4. Chris, Those look absolutely HELP FULL! I may have to take your idea and make a set of my own! I like the way the seem to hold things!!!! So please don't be alarmed to see a set that I make much in the same way yours is! I too have A LOT of "scraps" so..... PERFECT use for such a thing! Question do they "extend" in the middle width-wise?
  5. ABSOLUTELY NICE detail man! Question, that yellow stand its resting on,. what is that amd or did you build it? IF SO, you have any sort of "plans" to scratch build another one? Kinda a neat tool!
  6. So it has a small block Chevy, for the year of car I'da guessed it to have a 409. Thats cool tho they used something different!
  7. A very short Update on this build of mine..... I've been really concentrating on another build, currently. So.... With that, between times, I been doing a little on whatever is sitting around to keep busy! Getting the underside of the hood "right" with the hood insulation, was something that needed attention and work sop I got all of that done! Gray insulation it is! I had to go and dullcoat it to make the color flat so that it looked like of insulation! Looks pretty good altho the raised edges look unpainted from the flash of the clear coat that is making the edge shine so.... BUT outside of that looks pretty good! I will be next adding the final coat of Clear coat to the top side of the hood! Like I said, not much of an update, but still moving forward.... Thanks for following along, ENJOY!
  8. Randy, That '67 Charger, which one is it? The Revell new one or old one? OR the old MPC version of the '67 Charger? -Nice car either way! As for "digging" GAWD, don't I know it..... I know what ya mean tho, you find old "sins"...... LOL -I've got my share.... Sins or not..... The biggest "SIN" is not ever touching them again! I'll be adding a short update to this build shortly. not much but, "Something"....
  9. Travis, ya did a fine job on this one!!!! So then, whats next on the bench for you?
  10. Bruce, its doing the same for me too! HEY, I KNOW you -From another forum! Anyway, I'm gaining encouragement as well as inspiration to the one I am planning. (I have NEVER built a "Gasser" to date), not once! SO this will be a first for me, a Fictional one however, but a Gasser no less, from a '41 Plymouth!
  11. LMAO. I LOVE IT!!!!! Cheech & Chong..... That Licence plate kills me..... LMAO What engine goes in or with this kit? a 348 or the 409?
  12. Well, a little more done to this build! I am slow going on the details as A LOT of it HAS TO BE well thought out as it really is A LOT going on, in such a small area, so things have to be placed as just so, to not hinder other details that are major pieces to the engine.... SO all takes time and a lot of thought going in, SO with that, I went one to get the plug wires in-place on the engine! In my last update with pics, you seen the Blowers on the inverted "V" Plenum, that whole sub-assembly was merely "setting there" for the pics, all mocked up for looks sake! So, having that HUGE Intake Plenum, with the Blowers, I had to apply the Distributors, and all the wiring for the plug wires, remember DUAL-PLUGS, meaning DUAL plug wires too! 2 Distributors, & 16 plug wires total had to be fished through the Plenum's Tunnel-Ram intake base! So, with that, I color coded, the wires, one Distributor has Red wires, and the other one has Black wires! BOTH Distributors were turned in my Unimat, and then polished, BEFORE the 2 of them were mounted to the drive plate under each of them! The holes for the plug wires was drilled AFTER the polishing stage to keep the "polishing Compound" from getting in the holes, and hindering the glue adhesion.... Then going forward, the front Distributor, has the red wires, and the rear Distributor has the Black wires! Meaning, the FRONT plug locations of EACH cylinder will be getting RED wires, the REAR plug location to each cylinder will be getting Black wires! So with that all said, I began by running the closest wires, first.... The Black ones.... All nicely ran to their proper locations, and looks pretty "natural" laying.... I was pleased with this and kept going! I went on to get the Red wires in-place to the proper locations on the engine.... LOTS of wires for merely one "type" of detail! I let 2 wires "loose" for the Coil, for each Distributor! I'll be running dual MSD ignition boxes to those Coils as well! A little update, BUT a lot of miniature work! (I'm now focusing on the intake Plenum, and all the details that will be in and or around it.... Stay tuned, more will come as things are done (and pics are taken), as always Comments welcome, ENJOY!
  13. Travis, Just enough room behind the grille to add the Moon tank! THATS awesome!!!!! So far so good! looks GREAT!
  14. That sir looks DANG NICE Very nice work, VERY clean too!
  15. I've got that Revell '70 'Cuda so I'll have a look on it to see if the drip molding is that thick on mine too, or if it is a molding flaw on just your kit! -Interesting tho its that thick! I have to agree, the 1/24th stuff from Revell (Originally Monogram stuff) was half ways decent for casting work, not to often I ever seen a real bad flaw in it! Revell tho, has come a long ways from the 1990's I have to say! -The '67 Dodge Coronet R/T and '67 Charger, are some really NIICE kits man! The Dart, dig 'er out and get goin' on it now ....be building 2 Darts at the same time mine a "270" model yours Pro-Street!!!! LOL
  16. -I can see the pics just fine on my end!
  17. yeah Polyethylene is what I meant to say why I said Styrene I don't know..... -It works much the same way but is stronger tensile strength!
  18. David, I know I got at least 2 of these cars to build, SO I know thast I am NOT all that good using the candle and rod trick, so. that got me thinking of an alternative that do the same thing and be good reaction to glue, and Fishing Line is Polyethylene, so.... I can't see why it wouldn't work.... AND like I said, you can get different thicknesses of it by the Fishing Lines pound Test, the thicker the line the heavier pound test it is.... I'll have to look and see what all I have in my tackle box LOL (Yeah, I'm an angler too) and I've got SEVERAL different spools in there, I know I do!
  19. For fender Welts, I wonder if fishing line wouldn't work? (You could get any amount of it you wanted, and different thicknesses by lb test of the line itself!) HMMMMM
  20. Joe, NOW thats an interesting model to see you building!!!! NICE work so far!
  21. Randy, Thats cool with the wife, showing off your work! Mine does the same thing on the ones she likes! LOL As for the '70 Cuda, by who? Revell? -I have the kit, I just have not worked on it yet. not even the engine! SO I'm not sure......... the drip edge along the door window? Let me know for sure! I'll look at mine to see whats there!!!! I love how the Embossing powder works for carpet! Looks GREAT too!
  22. Sorry to hear this! The change of ingredients of paint in the past couple years has been brutal! Specially for us modelers!!!! I can remember being able to cut Testors paint with Lacquer, NOW I've been using Mineral Spirits!
  23. NICE work on BOTH of those wreckers!!!! NICELY done!
  24. LOL Thanks Gator!!!!! I got a LOT of details to add now before I move on with them! The neat part of this? The fact that BOTH motors are THE SAME "base" model!
  25. Greg, That sucks! Plastic body, or resin? I can't remember, might be a bad reaction between the resin and the paint..... Plastic, if thats what it was, this is an odd reaction!
