  1. Not required, but I recommend a digital Caliper for super accurate measuring. Cheers, Lance
  2. Tom, I see now that you solved the problem. Looks good! Cheers, Lance
  3. Hey Tom, I remember long ago, that you could purchase a white lettered tire touch up paint bottle w/applicator. I did a search, and came up with this, Duplicolor HT100 Hot Tire Pen. Maybe, if all else fails, you could try this. Cheers, Lance
  4. These are all beautiful models, but I just can't get excited about a sealed car. Shouldn't the 82 have dual exhaust? Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Lance
  5. Much better, Great restoration. Cheers, Lance
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. Wish I could attend, but I have a local Plastic model and Diecast show to attend on Sunday. I'll make plans to attend next year. Hope someone posts pics from this NNL. Thanks again for the info. Cheers, Lance
  7. I haven't been to the Toledo NNL for 20 years, used to go every year with friends. I've heard that this show is small, compared to long ago. Is this still in conjunction with the Toy show? Does anyone know if there is a class for 1/18 modded Diecast? Cheers, Lance
  8. Hey Nick, GMP/Acme made a few more kits, as well. The cool part is, they made the box look old, and stained like they were made in the sixties. !. 32 Ford Roadster 2. Fiat Dragster 3. 32 Ford 3-window 4. 32 Ford five window 5. 41 Willys 6. Bantam Altered I think I covered them all, if not, AZ Tom might be able to remember if I missed any. Cheers, Lance
  9. Hey Tom, did you heat up the can for the clear? What do you like about it? Looks pretty smooth. Cheers, Lance
  10. Very nice! Great choice in color, and wheel/tire combo, that gives it that "gotcha" factor. Cheers, Lance
  11. Love this build! Thanks for sharing the in progress details. Pretty risky location for a radiator, did you put the electric fan on the underside, or did you not install it yet? Cheers, Lance
  12. Not to start a big debate, as I read the thread on safe exhaust fans for spray booths, but I built one many moons ago(don't have it anymore), and the main thing is, use a sealed motor, not an open one. A sealed motor uses the air running across it from the fan blade, to cool it, thereby no paint particulates are sucked into the motor, like an open one. True, you could go for years with an open motor, and no problems, but, all it takes is one spark from an open motor, and I didn't want to take that chance. I incorporated a channel from wood trim, to slide a furnace filter in, before the motor/fan assembly, to catch the paint particulates, and not allow a paint buildup on other parts of the booth. Also, be careful about the CFM's, remember that the air you are pulling through the booth involves the air in the room, you are painting in. Too much, can bring dust from the room into the booth. JMO, but if you insist on using an open motor, please set up a furnace filter before the motor, so it doesn't clog up with paint. The ideal build, is to have the motor mounted outside the booth, so its not subjected to paint, or fumes. Cheers, Lance
  13. Always great to see what you are working on, Mike. Keep us posted on your progress Cheers, Lance
  14. Nice build, looks great! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Lance
  15. Chances are, the diecast car will have a plastic engine anyway, so I agree with Nick. Cheers, Lance
  16. Beautiful Lincoln! Maybe its just the angle of the pics, but it looks like the top is chopped? Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Lance
  17. Thanks, Tom. Cheers, Lance
  18. Nice work, Jeff. I agree on the AWB's, so glad Supercars had these done Cheers, Lance
  19. Hey Guys, here is another Mod I did a while back. Its a Phantom example of a Hurst prepared factory race 1970 Dodge Challenger. I built it to follow the Factory Hurst prepared Hemi race Dart's and Barracuda's. My phantom Challenger in 1/18, was disassembled, and stripped of existing paint. The mirrors, antenna, and marker lites were removed, the battery was moved to the trunk, and a tach was added to the dash. Since this was an experimental car, the existing 340 was used, but it has a Paxton supercharger, which was taken from a Lane 66 Mustang fastback. I added a cylindrical air box, with an air duct made from a bendable straw. I also added the supercharger cooling oil lines, to a finned oil cooling unit, made from an extra radiator, and mounted in front of the existing radiator. Open steel wheels were taken from another Challenger, painted black, and slicks were added to the rear. The car was painted primer gray, and the front clip was painted flat black, then I hit it with a coat of dullcoat. Cheers, Lance
  20. For those interested, here is a link to Acme's site. This Willys is a later version with a Hemi, not the lite blue version with the olds engine, and its slated for a January 2016 release, so save your pennies http://www.acmediecast.com/ Cheers, Lance
  21. Hey Guys, here is the latest 1/18 diecast release from Acme. Its the iconic Stone Woods and Cook 41 Willys. MSRP $149.95 Item # A1800906. Cheers, Lance
  22. That reminds me, of some Psychedelic paint jobs modelers did back in the day. They took a fair sized bowl, filled it with water, dunked the model in it,(on a coat hanger), sprayed paint in different colors on the water, then pulled the model up through the paint, presto! Psychedelic paint job. I think it might have been in an old issue of Car Model Mag. Cheers, Lance
  23. Nice one, Tom. Were these bigger then 1/25? I think they were like 1/20th? Sure wish GMP would have done a 1/18 scale Chevy. Cheers, Lance
  24. Beautiful build! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Lance
  25. Ray, you are a true craftsman! Amazing work, I'll be watching in anticipation of its completion. I see how you made your own jig for bending your exhaust tubing, but I see solid tubing, not hollow tubing. The project I'm working on now, requires the 90 degree bend of 1/4" aluminum hollow tubing, and despite numerous attempts, even with the help and suggestions from others, the tubing will not stretch to allow the bend. I'm using a hand held bender. The frustration has stopped any further building. Can you possibly help? Thanks for any input. Once again, quite the amazing build Cheers, Lance
