Really funny. Art imitates life. Around the BushPointBurg (that's Bushwick, Greenpoint and Williamsburg) neckbeardplex, hipster rush hour starts at 11:45 A.M. That's when they roll out of their apartments with their deliberately arranged pillow hair stylishly covered with a bed bug-infested ski cap, 40 foot long scarf wrapped around their No. 2 pencil sized necks (during the summer, no less) with a copy of a book written by some obscure 15th Century French poet (they don't read it. It's only a prop) strategically placed in their jacket pocket so as to impress onlookers, heading to the newest artisanal organic hummus palace where they will first check through all of their social media accounts to see how many times they were mentioned. While nursing a $9.00 cup doublehalflatfrappespressochino (made from fair trade, cruelty-free coffee beans imported from somewhere in Tanzania and shipped by three masted schooner to Billbug, each bean individually delivered by a lice-infested bearded Mast Bros.clone dressed like Sikesey, the lovable, homicidal 19th Century newsboy riding his penny farthing ), they will blog about their experience buying loosies (loose cigarettes) at the corner bodega. They'll do this until 4 P.M. That is when the the local trendy lounges open and they could start buying $10 bottles of some pisswater handcrafted microbrew even more obscure than that poetry book in their pocket. This is a regular 7 day a week routine. They're not encumbered by annoyances like this "work" thing, of which they are dimly aware through rumors. Yup, I'm critical of Millennials (not all) because I see this stuff every day. For all you know, some of them might be the kids of your friends. You might get a laugh from this:

Unfortunately, stupid has become the new normal. How does one slide through, at a minimum, 12 years of primary and secondary education, five or more in under and post-grad studies, obtain a useless degree and their heads still whistle every time they encounter a stiff breeze? In a negative way, that, in itself, is a monumental accomplishment.

There was an anthology series on TV in the early '50s called "Racket Squad" . Taken from actual case files, it dramatized the methods used by con men and bunco artists. At the end of each show, the host would give viewers advice on how to avoid becoming a victim.

When I was a kid, we played what was then called the "retard' game. We would ask questions which required common sense to answer. Some of the questions were: 1. Why was George Washington buried on a hill? 2. A plane carrying 100 people crashes and everybody died. Where did they bury the survivors? 3. Which weighs more, a ton of feathers or a ton of lead? I asked some Millennials these same questions. I wasn't surprised that they failed miserably. They can't even tell you who we fought in the Revolutionary War. Carpe diem, Roscoe.

'64 Ford Engine Options?

This Barrett-Jackson listing says the color is Burgundy I think Tamiya TS-33 Hull Red is more of a match. Spray a gloss coat over it and it'll be a dead match -

Awards are handed out to "second" winners and so on. Second is nothing more than being first in a long line of losers.

Loads of yuks for the thinking man. Excellent, witty and well scripted series.

Most definitely. Jay Ward was another animation genius, right there with Avery and Bob Clampett.

Same situation here. Watching Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies, Segar-produced Popeye, Woody Woodpecker, etc. requires knowledge of history and cultural trends contemporaneous with the storylines. More than a few people watch them and laugh without understanding the inside jokes tossed in as background images or in the dialogue. A regular bunch of ta-ra-ra-goon-dee-ays, I'd say. Tex Avery was a genius.

Warning! DO NOT USE RED FROG HOBBIES!!
SfanGoch replied to superbike-shaun's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The same people have owned Red Frog Hobbies since 2004 and are the same folks I've dealt with for years. Nothing wrong with the operation. The problem is with HRM. Red Frog places orders, expecting them to be filled in a timely manner so its customers can get their orders. HRM informs Red Frog that it's running behind schedule and will send out the outstanding order(s) as soon as possible. RF informs waiting customers that the shipment from HRM should be arriving shortly. It doesn't. The familiar refrain of "any day now" was HRM's mantra. More back and forth between irate customers, RF and HRM. HRM claims that the delay was caused by assorted issues which prevented the proprietor from satisfying outstanding orders; yet, he still found the time to attend various shows during this period and sell the same swag which people previously ordered through RF. How do I know this is fact? There were guys on this here forum who saw him at different shows and raved about the boxes of of stuff available at the HRM table, including the Cobra Daytona Coupe I was sitting on my thumbs waiting for. One even mentioned that he picked up the Cobra at a show. Swell. RF apologized for the delay and offered to issue me a refund; but, I told them I'll wait since it had gone this far. I ended up waiting 13 months before receiving my entire $250+ order. Wasn't enthusiastic about that; but, my choice. RF sent my stuff as it arrived and picked up the shipping on the smaller items. I didn't hold RF responsible for HRM's shortcomings. I also never have a problem with receiving replies from RF. I've even received calls to let me know if there were any problems with my orders.- 21 replies

Use .010 solder. At 1/24-1/25 scale, nobody will notice. If somebody does, they need to get a life.

I like to check out pics of finished models (that's for you, Harry ) in the "Under Glass" section. Since there is usually only a single model being showcased in any particular thread, there is NO FRIGGIN' NEED to repeatedly repost the photos ad nauseam just to say "Nice job". We get it. We're all looking at the same thing. We know what you're referring to. Nobody switched pictures. Stop it. The Redundant Content Squad is keeping tabs on you. They're just itching to drag you downtown. While you're at it, getdahelloffamystoop! -
AMT 57 Chevy Pepper Shaker - Newest reissue
SfanGoch replied to pharoah's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have that Hot Rod '55 Custom Chevy Sedan, The Skip's Fiesta release and the '73 released H-1374. The Skip's version is the one presently in construction. I noticed issues with the fit (gaps) of the doors and hood. I found that the parts from the Hot Rod version fit much better and, conversely, the Skip's parts fit better with the HR kit. Go figure. Getting back to '57s, I prefer the Pro Shop release over the Pepper Shaker. -
AMT 57 Chevy Pepper Shaker - Newest reissue
SfanGoch replied to pharoah's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The one problem common to the Revell chassis is that the frame is offset to the right of center of the body pan and transmission hump, making the right rear wheel well narrower than the left side. That creates problems when trying to use some tires. -

There is. If and when such a thread is started, just post pics of your finished projects from this past year in a reply. Or, is that too obvious? -
AMT 57 Chevy Pepper Shaker - Newest reissue
SfanGoch replied to pharoah's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have all three of the old H-series Tri-Five Bel Air kits in various states of progress. Contrary to the bandwagon critics, they aren't as bad as some say. The '57, like the '55 and '56, has its issues with fit and chassis details. Nothing a little patience won't take care of, though. I added a lot of details to the chassis using an AMT '55 Bel Air as reference. It was only afterward that I realized I could, with a few tweaks, slam the AMT chassis under the Revell bodies. Coulda saved a whole lotta work. Oh well, live and learn. The '55 has a fully operational rear suspension. I scratchbuilt the leaf springs, mounts and shackles from scrap 2 mm wide PE frames and it also has functioning coil over shocks. -
I'll wait for either R2 and/or MK to re-release it sometime in the next 15-20 years.

Just got this from PhotoBucket; all I can say is (censored)

Last week, I received an offer for the third-party hosting starting at $49.95. In the event that you run out of choice invectives, I have a selection of maledicta, previously unused here, which you are welcome to use at the reasonable rate of only 29 cents per curse word. -
Sez you. I've a saved search on eBay for this kit and gotten ugatz for notifications for almost two years. It's a nice kit; but, not for $50+ as seen on some sites.

I bookmarked it after reading the article you posted the link for in the other thread. You possess the enviable ability to tell a story in an interesting and entertaining manner. You're the Jean Shepherd of the styrene set.

You've just described nearly every non-male broker at Corcoran and Douglas Elliman. They dress like they're on the prowl and palaver until your will to resist is broken. You end up buying that insanely overpriced shack because you just want them to finally shut the h*ll up before you are forced to step into traffic.

Unless you want ugly, prime it before applying your chosen color.
