That, and to prevent shoplifting. Those laundry pods have been the favorite target of the five finger discount crowd. The manager at the supermarket down the block from me snagged a dude trying to walk out with 19 bags of Tide Pods. He told the manager that he would have taken more but didn't want anybody in the store to notice. I bet his head whistles whenever he steps out into a stiff breeze.

You can drag and drop them from your computer in the reply box, or click "choose files" .

Social media is the engine driving people to even lower levels of stupid behavior: Teens are eating laundry detergent for the "Tide Pod Challenge" They're probably chewing on ghost peppers with them to cover the soapy taste.

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
SfanGoch replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually, Hobbico reaps no financial benefits at all, just as an auto manufacturer gets ugatz when someone buys a long discontinued make/model of car from a private seller. Any direct monetary benefit occurs at the distributor/dealer/retailer level. After that, the manufacturer has no skin in the game. Hobbico doesn't figure into the equation regarding possible additional revenues from a kit long before it's even listed on eBay. -

It's waterslide decal film, John. If you're planning on depicting cloth, it's already flat black. -

Filing for Chapter 11 doesn't necessarily mean that the entire operation will fold. GM reformed without the less profitable divisions pared off. -

Has anyone tried this stuff?
SfanGoch replied to droogie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't tried it with C1 Metalizer. I'll have to test it. I did with SNJ Metal Powder; so, you can probably do the same with this stuff. I used light oversprays of MM Metalizer Jet Exhaust, Burnt Iron and Burnt Metal along with applications of Tamiya Smoke, Clear Blue, Clear Orange and Clear Yellow Tamiya Smoke, Clear Blue, Clear Orange, Clear Yellow on jet aircraft I built for a hobby shop display some years ago. The C1 is more durable than the SNJ product and you can mask over it without the risk of dulling or pulling it off. I'd suggest using Parafilm or frisket paper for that. Tip: You can polish Metalizer by using graphite powder on a Q-Tip, or a soft cotton cloth, and lightly buffing it. It works on all shades and doesn't affect the color. -
If Stynylrez doesn't meet your expectations, you can try Vallejo Surface Primer, which also is a polyurethane resin-based formulation. Available in 17 colors. Surface Primer Color Range

It's probably the same composition, Rich. Too bad SNJ Powder is no longer available. -

Good stuff. I recommend it. Bought it about four years ago and it works as advertised. Just make sure you don't apply it in a room with open windows or a draft. The powder will get on everything and is almost impossible to clean up. -
Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?
SfanGoch replied to mustang1989's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you happen to have a spare $335.95 (plus $141.24 to cover shipping and import charges) burning a hole in your pocket, this Texaco Oslo can be yours. It's 32" long, which scales out to 1/215 and is identical to your Esso Glasgow. -
Up till fairly recently, most smart people would leave their cars just where they were parked on the block if there was a major snowstorm. It wasn't worth the trouble digging them out completely since alternate side parking rules would be suspended for at least a week. Take the subway to where you gotta go. There are plenty of them here.

Z Scale trains are approximately 1/200 (1/220, to be precise). Diecast and plastic commercial model aircraft, large scale model ships and some other assorted floo-flah are made to this scale. Revell AG also produced this baby which could bookend the excavator on your shelf. Pretty impressive. -

1/25 AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina Polyglas Gasser II
SfanGoch replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I don't think the '62 Bonneville tooling could have been modified for the '63 and '64 annuals. There's nothing in common with the '62 and '63/'64 cars bodywise. The '63 would have been a newly tooled version which would have been easier to modify into a '64. '62 Bonneville '63 Bonneville '64 Bonneville -
Thanks, I did. He did mention that it doesn't take well to masking. I previously read the same from other people on other sites. That's the problem. I've used Alclad and SNJ Spray Metal (when it was still available) on display model aircraft I built for a hobby shop. I could mask over both finishes to airbrush I.D. bands on F-86 Sabres without the metal finish pulling off or dulling. The Easy Chrome, according to ALSA, should be applied over a glossy black base coat; although, I read that some people have applied it over a clear coated gray or white primer base or a colored top coat and the results were similar. If you have already painted and clear coated a body, you could brush the stuff, or use an empty Molotow marker loaded with some Easy Chrome and a soft brush tip, on masked off trimwork. Like I said, I'm going to splurge and get the kit. If it works, great. If not, I can refinish the chromework on my kid's Schwinn Grey Ghost Krate Bike.

I was expecting to read about the same here. It's a post-snowstorm ritual in some neighborhoods, along with placing traffic cones and garbage cans in the spot to stake your claim. Usually, it doesn't work.

The same custom interior parts are found in AMT kits 6135 ('62 Pontiac Catalina Custom 2002 issue), 31279 (Custom Shop pre-painted) and 623 (2 n"1 Drag Car). Are the stock interior parts also included in this release? -
Frank, hop in the car and go to Circo's on Knickerbocker Ave. in Bushwick. Their cannolis are even better than Ferrara's in Little Italy. They also do mail order, wink-wink, nod-nod. You can get Gabila knishes at Shop Rite. Get some Sabrett's Mustard and Onion Sauce and you're squared away. BTW, I'm typing this while having a chocolate egg cream and some tiramisu.
