  1. I've mixed the phenolic microballoons with Magic-Sculpt two part epoxy to reshape body contours. The combination is thinner than applying only the Magic-Sculpt and, once hardened, It's easier to sand/file into shape and can be polished to a glass-smooth finish.
  2. No problem, Andy. Trademark, patent and copyright protection can be confusing. Re the Engrish lesson, I wuz jus' yankin' yer chain. Happy New Year.
  3. Trademarks will expire by law after 10 years unless the owner files an Application for Renewal before the end of the tenth year following the date of registration. Provided there are no problems, the trademark will be renewed for another ten years. Unlike copyrights, trademarks can be renewed indefinitely. That is the case with the Texaco Star logo. Texaco is a subsidiary of Chevron. Chevron, in turn, owns all trademarks and intellectual properties relating to Texaco. Trademark protection of the Texaco Star and other symbols related to Texaco are currently in effect. The company's original five-pointed star logo design was created in 1903.The first trademarked logo was designed in 1909. Pssst.......it's "piqued", not "peeked".
  4. Its 1/24 Mercedes G4 is a beauty too.
  5. I'm with Snake on this. Experience in building aircraft models with multi-piece fuselage sections makes tackling the multi-piece car bodies relatively pain and frustration-free. If some company decided to tool up multi-piece bodied subjects which haven't been previously kitted, please take my money. I'm in.
  6. Try Liquitex Professional Heavy Body Acrylic Parchment
  7. I'm not about to part with $375 and up for a model car kit or promo. I want to build'em, not do a William Devane and stare at'em in a wall safe. I'll tell you, Bill, I would definitely grab some AW diecasts if they were 1/24-1/25. The Christine diecast would be nice in "our" scale. The side trim looks a lot better than the AMT Belvedere. There's a big hole in the market for decently detailed cars in those scales since Franklin and Danbury Mints ceased operations.
  8. Nothing here that captures my interest. I'm Star Treked out and not really into 1/18 or 1/64 diecasts. I wonder how far along they are in checking out the older tools in the inventory. Seeing the '63 Bonneville and other early-mid '60s cars would save me a krapload of dough by not paying eBait prices. It'd also be great if R2 reissues POL812, the 1/72 Forbidden Planet C-57D Space Cruiser in all of its 28" in diameter swellness. My earlier completed model met an untimely demise at the paws of the dreaded Altairian Bat-fanged Fmeep.
  9. I will; and so will others if they are inclined to do so. Dave made a career of goofing on people. Being Dave Letterman doesn't bestow or entitle him to immunity from the same. I haven't seen any comments regarding his social/political views. Are you sure you're reading the same thread? Sure. Do that in the model-specific areas. There are plenty to choose from on this site. This is the "Off-Topic Lounge". This is the section where everyone is welcome to post topics or make comments about anything or anyone they feel like. This thread started off goofing on Dave's beard. So far, it's been pretty much sticking to topic.
  10. You can also use trisodium phosphate (TSP) mixed with water to remove mold release agent from resin parts. It's a better degreaser/cleaner than most currently available products. A mixture of one tablespoon of household bleach (Clorox, for example) per one cup of water will also clean and degrease resin without any damage to the parts. TSP can be safely added to the bleach solution to increase its effectiveness. You also won't need to soak the parts for hours or days either. A 30-60 minute soak, followed by scrubbing with a nylon brush and a thorough rinsing with clean water,is all that is required.
  11. You can also check out Paintscratch.com.
  12. Maybe Don Rickles and Rodney Dangerfield could be coaxed out of retirement if the money was right.
  13. I'm 57, pretty beat up and look a hell of a lot better than that.
  14. He's either too busy schmoozing with that bloated has-been, Alec Baldwin; or, he's attempting to break the sound barrier on I-95 heading toward Greenwich to bother.
  15. Look at it this way, Ron. Less stuff to move and possibly break while cleaning.
  16. He used to be funny. Now, he's just funny looking.
  17. Sure do. That line was parodied countless times on SNL.
  18. We all know Kojak's not a real cop, right? And, we also know that Jim Rockford's not a real P.I. When we watched these shows, it never occurred to any of us to contact them to help us because we knew they were just characters in TV shows. Stupid has finally been legitimized. Read the disclaimer at the bottom of this METV ad:
  19. You suddenly developed a short attention span and forgot what you started?
  20. At least I'm not contributing to her salary. My (legal) income isn't taxable.
  21. You forgot to mention using the possessive form of a noun as a plural, "troglodyte's" , "kit's" and other's.
  22. I'm referring to degrees in English Lit, Fine Arts and such. Parents piss away upwards of 150 Grand for their kids to attend Ivy League schools and get sheepskins in these dead end fields. The number of openings for well paying positions in the literary world and at museums are exceeded in the number of degree holders in these fields by a ratio of 2000+:1. What ends up happening is that these momos work as latte foam sculptors in some coffee shop, restock books at Barnes & Noble, selling clay ashtrays at the weekly Saturday Arts & Craft Market or fold skinny jeans at The Gap or Urban Outfitters. Degrees in technical field requires taking and attending real courses that require serious studying. That would interfere with their extracurricular activities.
  23. Sell it on ebay for $378.39. Somebody'll take the bait.
  24. Want to know how not to commit a crime? Watch Perry Mason, The Lineup. Felony Squad, M Squad, Racket Squad, The F.B.I., Dragnet and Columbo. You can toss in Highway Patrol and Peter Gunn for the cars, though.
