Yes, it did. I just stripped the rear bumper of an AMT '58 Plymouth down to its gray styrene. No lacquer undercoat left.

The plating was pretty ratty and I was planning on removing it anyway.

I was attempting to clean the front bumper/grille from an SMP 1961 Chrysler Imperial using Dawn Platinum Powerwash Spray. Scrubbing with a toothbrush, I discovered that it would completely remove the chrome plating.

Proper Scale for Details
SfanGoch replied to mcs1056's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Why don't you unbunch your shorts, man? If one can't perform elementary school-level arithmetic, that's a sad state of affairs. I guess fourth grade was the best three years of some peoples' lives. -
AMT 1961 Chrysler Imperial Convertible Still have to find two tail lights and another front bumper/grille. Also, picked up another Protar Ferrari 250 GTO.

Largest kit box ever?
SfanGoch replied to OldNYJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ding-ding-ding! We have a winner! Soar Art's 1/35 scale 80cm Dora Railway Gun is packed in a 41" x 21" x 13" box which is almost as large as a studio apartment in NYC. I bought one some years ago but haven't started it yet. I wonder why?- 36 replies

new windshield options for AMT 1959 Galaxie
SfanGoch replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Wash the polished windshield to remove whatever residue from the polishing compound,; that is, if you used any. Then, dip the windshield in acrylic floor finish, such as Quick Shine, or Alclad Aqua Gloss Clear. When dry, the floor finish/gloss coat will fill in the scratches, making them virtually invisible. -
Picked up a new Olympos HP-101 airbrush to replace my 40+ year old model. Only took three days to arrive, with free delivery, from Japan.

Does putty soften plastic?
SfanGoch replied to topher5150's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sorry to say; but, that's way too much c_rap around those fender flares. As was stated previously, Tamiya putty is solvent-based and can unnecessarily soften the Evergreen strips and the plastic to which they're attached. It requires too much sanding which could alter the final shape of the flares and surrounding plastic. One can use Magic-Sculpt two part epoxy putty as a filler around the flares. It's available in 16 colors to suit one's needs. It's water-soluble and you can smooth it with a dampened cloth or wet fingertip to obtain the proper shape. -
Which glue for smp24 kits
SfanGoch replied to tooltime-fan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Supercar Modeling Project website. There is mention of 3D printing, though. That means resin of some type; so, as Shark said, CA or two part epoxy would be required. Pretty expensive kits, BTW. -

Testor's Nassau Blue Metallic 28129 Equivilant
SfanGoch replied to cholmes1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do you have an airbrush? Scale Finishes has 1962 Chevrolet Code 914 Nassau Blue Metallic and 1963 Code 914 Monaco Blue Metallic (same colors. different names) lacquer paints. Other than that, you're most likely SOL. -
MR. COLOR LEVELING THIINER
SfanGoch replied to Andrew McD's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Jeez....Maybe it's just me; but, doesn't anyone think outside of the model box and bother using Google to find an online source other than fleabay? I do. I got my Mr.Color Leveling Thinner 400ml bottles from BJ Hobby Supply a few months ago for 16 bucks each plus shipping. -
Custom Local police Department Decals
SfanGoch replied to jjsipes's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A hundred bucks for a decal sheet is ridiculous. I've been doing business with this eBay vendor, Police Decal Shop, for years. He has over 1,000 PD vehicle sets available. The quality is superb. Contact him if you can't find what you're looking for. -
I have an SMP '61 Imperial with a separate HT from the same vendor that the '62 came from.
