  1. Revell '56 Chevrolet Del Ray
  2. Litigation is as American as apple pie. You want to make copies? To quote Henry Hill: "F*** you, pay me." Pretty simple and straightforward business model.
  3. Buying the rights to the Johan trademark wouldn't make sense unless it included the intellectual property rights. Major companies that acquire businesses also acquire copyrights, trademarks, intellectual property rights, etc. related to the acquired business in order to control their use.
  4. Instead of trying to apply CA straight from the bottle, put a few drops in a medicine/aspirin bottle lid. A lot neater and you have more control over how much and where it goes. Just wipe off the excess on the applicator tip and you're good to go. Tip: Contrary to what the rocket scientists swear by, storing opened bottles in the fridge is a bad idea. Cyanoacrylate polymerizes in the presence of water. The opened bottle contains air, which contains moisture. The humidity of air already brings a sufficient amount of water for cyanoacrylate to polymerize. When cooled, the moisture condenses and contaminates the CA, drastically shortening its shelf life. Store your opened bottles in a glass (preferably a mason jar with a rubber gasketed screw cap) or metal container with a screw on lid. Place a couple silica gel bags inside and place the CA in the container. The silica will absorb the moisture and keep the CA from deteriorating. I have 6+ year old bottles of CA stored this way and they are still good. Every month or so, take the silica bags and toss them into the oven, heating them at 225° for 15 minutes to remove the absorbed moisture.
  5. Not that many. There were only 2402 hardtops (1918) and convertibles (484) made.
  6. I'm liking this one, Dwayne.
  7. As a seven year old, I thought that the AMT Enterprise was really neat. The original 1967 kit included grain of wheat light bulbs to illuminate the clear green bridge and main sensor domes. No flashy noises unless you provided them yourself. PHHT! BLAM! BZZZZ! Did you know that Aurora Plastics Corp produced the AMT kit for the UK and Canadian markets under their own label on the box?
  8. You're being overly optimistic.
  9. If you apply a few light mist coats of lacquer, it shouldn't affect the acrylic paint. The light coats won't be as chemically aggressive as a single, heavier one and will form a barrier which will seal the acrylic once you spray heavier coats of the lacquer.
  10. Same stuff I recommended in the other thread, MM Acryl Flat Black or Vallejo. Depending on the final body color, you can also use the various shades of gray, blue, red, etc., mixed in to make the panel lines more subtle and blend in better with the body color. Being that you deal with 1:1 cars on a daily basis, look at the panel/shut lines. They're not solid black. They appear as slightly darker shades of the paint job, with a thin, almost imperceptible dark gray in the recesses.
  11. Could be as simple as the product sucks.
  12. Parts packs never were big sellers even during the golden era of modeling in the early-mid 1960s. That's why, for the most part, kit manufacturers discontinued them. The only reason these older parts packs are bought on Ebay, or from vintage model sites, is for their nostalgia value to the purchaser/collector. Not to mention that they can be turned over for a tidy profit at the aforementioned eBay at a later time. The only sets that were reasonably popular enough to possibly generate revenue for, let's say, AMT and Revellogram were the engine packs. But, considering Revellogram discontinued its engine Parts Paks in '98-'99, that might actually be the case. Producing items to cater to a minority within a minority niche in the hobby isn't is not a good or logical business practice.
  13. Model Master Acryl Flat Black or Vallejo Model Color 70.950 (169) work well. Both dry dead flat.
  14. I test fit the "Color Me Gone" chassis under the Johan '68 Fury Police Pursuit Car body and the width matched that of the body. Lengthwise, the wheelbase was dead on perfect. The only problem was that the Lindberg chassis's wheel wells were too wide to fit the recesses in the rear seat on the interior pan. Does anyone know if the Lindberg '64 Plymouth Belvedere shares the same chassis as the other Lindberg/AMT SS Mopars; or, does it have narrower wheel wells?
  15. I didn't see that in the original post. That info must've been the reason for the edit he made.
  16. AMT 6629 1965 Pontiac 2+2 includes 8-lug wheels.
  17. All kits, accessories, tools and other supplies are ordered online. There is only one actual hobby shop here in the city, that being Jan's Hobby Shop on the Upper East Side. Aside from picking up Floquil , Polly Scale and Humbrol paints (racks full of them because nobody buys them, Better for me. ), I don't bother buying kits there. The prices for all kits are almost twice the manufacturers' suggested price. Yeah, I know the spiel about supporting LHS's; but, I'm not going to get fleeced doing it. Even when shipping is factored in with online purchases (and from overseas sites too), I'm saving heaps of mazuma.
  18. Just the firewall. Doing that, and adding the 2 mm wide strip lined everything up perfectly. The only other things you'll need to do is tweak the lower rear and side edges (Is that the B or C pillar?) of the roof to conform to the curvature of the rear deck. The second thing is to re-scribe the rear door panel lines where they meet at the roof/body joint because the shape is incorrect.
  19. It also makes regular appearances on Hogan's Heroes.
  20. ABS and PVC are two different and dissimilar polymers. You can use Plastruct Plastic Weld or Bondene for bonding ABS. Both products are also good for use with styrene.
  21. ICM 35531 Minor makes an excellent MB G4 Detail Set for this kit, AVM 35029.
  22. I made a cut down the center of the firewall and added 1 x 2 mm styrene strip to widen that area by 2 mm, which eliminated the poor fit of the roof. You'll have minimal seam cleanup on the mating areas. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
