  1. That link i posted about Titanic's refrigeration system contained information about the large amount of food. The food was to be used for both trips across the Atlantic. Food which was to be used on the westbound voyage was kept in refrigeration lockers. Food which was to be used during the return trip was placed in thawing lockers so that it would be ready to use for that voyage. Besides, storing that much frozen food shortened turn-around times in port.
  2. Frank Zappa was a musical genius. "Cruisin' with Ruben and the Jets" is a classic. Frank loved Doo Wops. They were one of his musical influences growing up in the '50s. As a matter of fact, he wrote "Memories of El Monte" for the Penguins, which they recorded for Art Laboe's Original Sound label in 1963.
  3. What gets me are the casters who use every excuse possible (illness, personal issues, the heartbreak of psoriasis, my dog ate the molds) to explain why you're still waiting for the stuff you ordered a year before. Then, a week after reading the latest emailed excuse, there are a dozen posts by guys who said that they bought the same exact items you've been sitting on your hands for at a model show from the caster who had a crateful of them.
  4. That's because I'm that kind of guy. In the right place at the right time. You want Annette Bening's phone number?
  5. Heh, simply ingenious. I thought about using that for Ann Margaret, too.

  11. Aside from that, both were born within a block of each other in Astoria, New York. A lot of people don't know that Patrick Mcgoohan was an American by birth.
  12. Margaux paid for lunch once after she borrowed fifty from me. Did you have to read "Silas Marner"? That book was so ponderous that even Cliff Notes were of no use.
  13. Those are the witnesses.
  14. The Complete Gunsmoke (all 635 episodes plus 5 TV movies) can be had for 50 bucks at iOffer. I love that site. Better than eBay for certain things.
  15. The smaller ones were about 4" long. You can find the set on eBay for $50-80.
  16. "Danger Man/Secret Agent" and "The Prisoner", starring Patrick McGoohan are worth getting if you like spy shows. What do New York Yankee legend Whitey Ford and Patrick McGoohan have in common? Great show! "Law & Order" ripped off the format. Another iOffer bargain deal for 9 bucks.
  17. Mr. Lucky I picked up the set on iOffer for 6 bucks. Another great show was "Mike Hammer", the '58-'59 series starring Darren McGavin. "Naked City" was a great NYPD show Starring James Franciscus, in the first season, Paul Burke in Seasons 2-4, Harry Bellaver and Horace McMahon.
  18. Do you have Mr. Lucky or M Squad?
  19. Yup. It was called Flintstone Building Boulders" by Kenner. They had that odd colored flecking that remind me of formica counter tops I used them to elevate my Aurora slot car tracks.
  20. Sure he did. He had hotter looking granddaughters.
  21. If you like Supercar, you'll like Planet Patrol (Space Patrol in the U.K.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1UDaPtA9tU

  23. Stephen Crane, Theodore Dreiser, Ernest Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, H.P. Lovecraft, Aldous Huxley, George Orwell.
