Pretty much done with resin.
SfanGoch replied to cobraman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yeah, like the tires Ray waited four months for were rare subject matter. He wasn't talking about a kit. Just four stinking tires. Maybe the guy cast each individual tread. Your building schedule is what you want it to be. What and how others choose to build kits is their business. If someone chooses to run an assembly line and build 5 or 6 kits simultaneously, that is his choice. Why don't you consider that a person might not have a large stash and is limited to building whatever he has at hand at that particular moment? What do you expect him to do in that circumstance, buy another kit or two to keep himself busy until the caster decides to get up off his fifth point of contact and get around to filling the order because he has some free time in his schedule? Perhaps, that person won't, or can't, do that for a variety of reasons, all of which are more legitimate than the caster's excuse for not filling an order promptly. If they need something for for that particular model, and it's advertised by a caster, it should be delivered within a reasonable time, unless the waiting time is otherwise stated. If it isn't, it better be in the mail yesterday if the guy charged my card today. Unless the caster suddenly dropped dead after an order was placed and paid for, he has no legitimate reason for not taking care of his customer promptly. -
Automotive (and other) toys from our childhood

I never realized how fast my mom was. She bolted off the sofa and grabbed me by my neck before I even had a chance to react. -

Remember loads? You stuck them in the ends of cigarettes and they'd explode. After a school trip to Rye Playland, and the requisite stop at the novelty store, I decided to play a joke on my mom. I boobytrapped an entire pack of her Pall Malls and mixed a couple of packs of foaming sugar in the sugar bowl. Her girlfriend stopped by that day and my mom offered her a smoke. She lit it up, took a drag and BOOM! My mom apologized and said she didn't know what could have caused the explosion. She and her friend both lit up new cigarettes with the same result. My mom went through half the pack. Then, she brought in the coffee. She watched the coffee in her cup start foaming after she put some "sugar" in it. Needless to say, it wasn't a pretty site when I walked into the living room. -

That's all they were good for. They tasted like Rolaids. -

That's B.S. This is about casting resin parts, not ordering a handmade, solid platinum, 23 jewel timepiece with 100 diamonds embedded in the case. If one runs his business as a hobby, find something else to occupy your free time. The only time you'll hear the excuse that the vendor is doing this as a hobby is when enough people complain about waiting extremely long periods of time for stuff that they already paid for and the vendor was more than quick to bank the money. You know what the maximum range of an excuse is? ZERO! The next sound you hear is the world's smallest violin playing "My Heart Bleeds For You". Your sole obligation as the proprietor of a business is to your customers and to satisfy their orders in a timely manner, not when you feel like casting or machining things. If you can't do that, don't advertise your services and definitely don't take people's money unless you can deliver. -

Mike was doing some stream of consciousness comedy, folks. Why, he could be the next biggest thing since Andy Kaufman Souvenirs will be on sale at the bar after each performance. Don't be cheap. We know where you live. -
Invest a couple bucks for Mega-Millions and Powerball tickets and keep your fingers crossed. If you hit it, get a bigger place. If the jackpot is large enough, you can buy South Dakota.

Wonder what's next from Round2 AMT ?
SfanGoch replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Call it a 1970s U.S. V Corps staff car. I knew a couple of people who had Demons when I was stationed in FRG. No copyright or licensing issues. V corps used this insignia well before Chrysler even existed. -

Bad clams can do it too. -
Ain't it great? You could bury Jimmy Hoff in the box. Too bad that R2 discontinued it. The 1/144 version has nothing on this in terms of sheer size and detail.

This is also a good site: Never mind. allaboutlicenceplates.com is the same site with a different URL. A NYS 1913-28 plate was 6" x 16".

I never heard of that either until I went to Minneapolis. Some gomer told me that he'd never "step foot" in Brooklyn because we're all criminals. -
Down to brass tacks...

Try 10-15 PSI in light, misting coats, just like the chrome. Once it appears to be a shiny brass color, stop. -
Ferrari 250 GTO - Fujimi or Revell Germany?

i read the same thing about the body panels. That would counter any criticisms of a particular kit's appearance. They're all correct. -

You'd first have to explain how you applied it in order to determine what you did wrong and get advice. -
I didn't build it, Angel. I just got photos off the net. Check out Atlantis Model and Toy Company's website. The old Aurora Invaders UFO is available. Wave makes a 1/48 Adamski-type Flying Saucer It comes with clear domes so you can install LEDs. I have the 1/72 Haunebu German Flying Saucer. It's the same kit, parts and sizewise, as the Adamski kit, except for the clear domes. Another couple of cool flying saucer kits are the 1/35 Moebius 913 LIS Jupiter 2, which is 18" in diameter, and the 1/72 Polar Lights812 Forbidden Planet C-57D Space Cruiser This kit is 28" in diameter. The upper and lower domes are molded in clear styrene. I have two Jupiter 2s with lighting kits and a C-57D which will receive the lighting treatment also. I bought a couple hundred feet of fiber optic filament in various diameters to use in illuminating the flashing panel lights in the J2 and C-57D.

Gettin' down to brass tacks
SfanGoch replied to charlie8575's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's a third possible solution: If you want a shiny brass finish, strip the chrome and use Alclad II ALC-109 High Shine Polished Brass. It's shiny. It's polished. It's brass. What more could you ask for? -

The engines are the old Renwal kits. The "Motorized Thunderbird" was part of the Cam-A-Matic series manufactured by ITC (Ideal Toy Company). Read about it HERE.
