Perhaps it changed during the production run from an option to standard? I never heard it being an option and have never seen one without it unless it was deliberately removed.

Maybe I'm completely missing the sarcasm, but the wing was standard from the factory on turbo models. However, I'm not saying you have to put it on. IMO, they don't look right but everyone has their own taste. I think this is going to be a beautiful car.

My next build is an R-34 with a Hobby Design RB26DETT. I do love Nissan's as well. I have at least two more planned. A 370Z and an R35 GTR.

Managed to make a little progress today... some work on the transmission housing... took the Dremel to the hood mounting area... look for some more progress throughout the week... still a ways to go on this.

Matt, when I had my DBS debacle, i soaked the body in IPA for 3 days, the lacquer paint softened up but the Tamiya Fine primer stood firm. I hope you find something that works! Right now I'm having flashbacks to the DBS body melting in my hands...

I will be busting out my dremel again to cut the opening. I was very surprised to find the hood was not molded on. That makes life a lot easier. I'm going to leave a small lip around the fenders for the hood to sit on. The mounting bracket for the front bumper will be re-attached to the chassis. I've yanked a front support beam off the R-32 chassis for this purpose. That will allow me to attach the front of the chassis and body together as the old excuse for an engine was the attachment point

Thanks guys! Please ignore that blue spot on the radiator...i knocked the intercooler out of place during the spill.

Hey guys! I've started working on a recently arrived kit, Aoshima's TOP SECRET Nissan Silvia S-15 Spec. R. It's a decent kit. There are some fitment issues with the hood and front bumper but those should be easily solved. What will take some work is putting in an RB26 from my spare R32 kit, along with the transmission. I'll also use a single turbo set up and custom exhaust. Otherwise, that's as far as I've planned. it's really rough now, I haven't polished it up much. I just pulled out the dremel and started cutting and did a bit of sanding. I'll be working on this more as I close in on the end of my RX-7 build.

Hey guys! Here's a small update. I've added the CF to the front lip. Basically, it was a huge fiasco. After a few failed attempts, I accidentally knocked over both the Sol and Set bottles right onto the sheet of CF. Using a large piece, I tossed it onto the lip and hoped for the best. Amazingly, it worked! It doesn't look amazing but it looks alright. I hopefully will have the engine together and the suspension assembled tomorrow.

youtube. every kit is different. Fujimi and Aoshima have suspension systems completely different from Tamiya, and I'm sure Tamiya is different from Revell and AMT. Then again, every car is different. Look around on the internet and you'll see many different ways. IMO, double wishbone suspensions are the hardest to modify in-scale. Often times, modelers offset the brake rotors on the steering knuckles. On my R33, I used a combination of modifying the steering knuckles and and off-setting the brake rotors. It's easier than it seems.

Doesnt look too shabby! Good job following this one through. We all learn along the way, some builds go well, some go horribly wrong. You'll develop a method to everything. Some people like to prep and paint the body first, let it gas out throughout their build, then assemble. Others are opposite, they build from chassis to interior to body. As far as painting goes, its all practice and experience. You never know how a new paint will spray until you use it. The Camaro looks good! Can't wait to see your next build!

I have heard that before but it was from a displacement junkie and he referred to the engine as a good anchor for a ship. I have never had the opportunity to drive one, but I think its sharest a spit with the R-33 as the prettiest 90s sports car from the land of the rising sun.

Its pretty awesome how much they can push. Particularly how high the RPM's get. I'm really excited to see this one through.

Keep your head up John! I just suffered a loss during my recent DBS build. Your next build will be much better!

Thanks you all. It was a blast to build and I can't wait to debut my RX-7 on it (theres a WIP in the workbench section). The brick painting took the longest. I actually had to go back and repaint several darker bricks in the original color because i felt i had over done it. On the short wall i had to go in and add more brick colors because I felt the original wall wasnt varied enough. The foundation to the wall is balsa wood painted with "make it like stone" paint. The drain pipe was done with 2 bendy straws.

Hey guys. I've been in and out on this one. I didn't post as many updates as I'd have liked but it's finished now. I lost a lot of pictures due to that server crash/switch but without further adieu, my garage facade! The lighting isn't the best, but it'll have to do for now.

Hey guys, here's my normal big weekly update! I've paid most of my attention to the chassis and a little of my attention to the window trim on the body. I was't too thrilled with the one brake line running from ABS Unit to Brake Booster. It was supposed to be level but I failed to bend the wire enough.

Can't wait to see how it turns out round 2!

HOLY BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH I NEED TO FIND ONE OF THESE! If anything, I want to use the K-series for a swap in an EK i have sitting around. I bought a resin K-series off Ebay and its poo poo.

I really appreciate that Jonathan! Thank you! I'm really looking forward to making some big progress tomorrow.

Thanks guys! I've got most of the chassis parts painted. I have to finish the shocks, I'm painting them Green Pearl to simulate TEIN coilovers. I also have to finish up the brake booster and ABS unit so I can begin running brake lines. I did suffer a small set back during painting however, I dropped the steering tie rod and the piece that mounts to the steering knuckle broke. So I set out to make my own. Here's the results..I have to say, I'm mighty proud. I tested it and it mounts to the knuckle correctly. I won't glue the tie rod to the new connector until I'm ready to assemble the front suspension since I want to ensure the placement is perfectly aligned. I'll try to get most of the suspension pieces up tomorrow.

The blue can almost look purple under the right lighting. It's also metallic. I wasn't planning on a metallic paint for this build but it will do. I really like the color and the fact that it has a purple to it. The carbon decals take a little practice getting right. I still have to place carbon fiber on the front spoiler and I hope that goes smoother than the hood and wing. The hood took two tries and the wing 4 attempts. Lesson learned: for hoods, always cut the decal in half while on thr backing sheet. It will make placement a lot easier and using micro set and sol shorter, avoiding any catastrophes. Yesterday I sprayed the window trim on the clear plastic. I attempted to get a faded look on the rear window but it didnt turn out as planned, I'll have to get better at it. I also painted the wheel wells flat black and various suspension bits flat black. Initially, I thought this might provide a used look that suspensions have but it looks a bit fake. I will have to buy some semi-gloss black and see how that turns out on future models. Pretty much all thats left is to paint a couple parts on the underbody, paint the suspension and engine bits, then run brake lines and assemble the car.

The body didnt shrink, the paint made it grow. I havent built a Baldwin Motion Camaro and I don't know where the hang up is that is preventing the body from fitting over the chassis. You'll have to figure that out on your own. Those rims look pretty cool like that! Do some searching on here, a Baldwin Camaro was just finished up and it looks truly fantastic. Follow what the author did and you'll learn a ton, he's a phenomenal modeler.
