  1. Hello Yodas, Now that I have graduated grade school and moving up to my next level of building, its time for the all important accurate measurements. What caliper micrometer do you suggest? I prefer analog but am open to digital. To me, digital is not "if it will break", but "when it will break". But I'm open to digital as it's about whatever works well. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi Monsignor Snake45, That's a very nicely done project. The rust is killer.
  3. Hi, Unsure but Google photos has some really really nice pics of it. Be adventurous and get it. Worth it for the bird cage frame alone. BTW, its an increasingly scare kit. You should get it right away.
  4. Hi, Wow both pictures look great. I think using MM rust and thinning it with lacquer thinner will work well for me. For me, the best lacquer thinner is Tamiya. Seems like hardware store variety here in Cali has changed and sorta sux now.
  5. Hi, Yep, the kinda look I'm going for as well. I'll look for that paint. Thank you! BTW I looked for that Tamiya red oxide and while it's most likely awesome, costs a grip and not easily shipped to the states.
  6. Hi Monsignor Snake, Good questions. More for like a rat rod sorta thing. Thinking about my next concept.
  7. Hi, Tamiya makes a red oxide primer? I'll research.
  8. Hi, Assuming it's Duplicolor by chance? Or PlastiKote?
  9. Hi and thank you sirs! All of your kind replies gives me more reason to build. I'm on fire now with 2 on deck, neither OBB but having in my opinion, very cool mods. I may even start a 3rd on deck as I'm stoked! If I had big enough bench space, i would most certainly have half a dozen builds in process as I have soo many ideas and plans.
  10. Hi, Wow! Very very very cooooool! I really like it, seems very fun!
  11. Hi and thank you sir! I'm thinking your HRM Ferrari comp wheels may look best though.
  12. Hi and thank you sir!
  13. Hi, Why thank you Tim. Hoping to do less struggle.
  14. Hi and thank you sir!
  15. Hi, Awesome build, I love it!
  16. Hi, Did some quick sawing, very happy I'm getting better at this. The glass is hozed from such an old kit, will make a new one.
  17. Hello Monsignor Dann, Thank you very much! I used thin black tape to highlight the hardware on the side windows, unsure if the pics show it or not. I think the key to making the glass fit right was cutting it into sections. It took me 4 iterations of trying to fit the window with glue spots and all before I sanded them down and cut em up. I learned soo much that I'm starting to feel good about building.
  18. Hi and thank you sirs. I did soak it in alcohol for a few days as that stuff is gooey. Kinda like a big fresh booger, kinda gross actually.
  19. Hi, A variant of these bad boyz;
  20. Hi, Thanks very much for the warning!
  21. Thank you sir, unsure why I found it soo hard to learn that especially after reading this forum countless times.
  22. Hi, I heavily worked the tires off an Indy Kraco. I may stick with the Campagnolos wheels or go with Long Champ XR-4.
  23. Hi, It may not seem like it, but I did a ton of work on the body and suspension. The front fenders are 1mm wider and the rears are 2mm wider. I lowered it about 1.5mm and brought in the front track by 1.5mm. The new wheel offsets threw things off, plus the stock front track seemed wider then the rear so that the kit can turn its wheels. Hence all the work. I may leave the top open or extend the wind shield as 1 large piece all the way to the rear. I enlarged the rear wing by ~50% and will install PE wing tips. PS I'm particular about stance so I barely tucked in the wheels just enough. PSS The stock wheels/tires on this kit are absolutely HORRID!
  24. Why thank you monsignor AFX. I'm starting to feel like a builder now. Next time I use Vallejo which are marvelous in pigment and color, I'll coat with Pledge and then spray on the desired clear finish. That paint is delicate to the touch and takes a week to dry for full effect. It's pretty amazing actually.
