  1. very pretty car Steve.
  2. Very nice ! I've always liked those Novas in dark green. They just look so right in that color.
  3. Had an original back in the '70s when I was about 13 and had great fun with it. I've been wanting another crack at it again for ages but never had the decals to do it and can't afford an original. Now I have new decals from Gooch, I'm gonna do it up like I had always envisioned it in my youth. Still have the wheels from my original and that was about it but I think I can cobble something together from what I have. Mostly, it's the LRE reissue. Front axel and transfer case is from the last issue MPC GMC '84 4X4. I know it's way not right but it's what I got. Hopefully I can find a fresh set of the Desert Dog tires but these used ones will have to do for now. Biggest hangup is the "Warlock" decal for the tailgate is too large for the area it's supposed to go on so I'm gonna have to do a bit of surgery to the tailgate. I also cut the rear fenders from the box to make it easier to paint and polish that area. Already put a couple coats of Tamiya gloss black on the body parts and glued the engine block together so I'm on my way.
  4. This is the one I'm waiting for. I think I'll have a long wait.
  5. I'll be getting one. I think those kind of kits are just fun. A nice break from a more "serious" project. After all, isn't a hobby supposed to be fun? If you don't like the subject, don't buy it. That simple. Most of us aren't interested in figure kits , Gundams and the like but we don't go on a car forum and complain about whatever company making them shouldn't be doing it. Why should a fantasy showrod like this be any different because it has 4 wheels and an engine? I have no interest in building a semi truck or a rail dragster but I certainly won't complain about the companys making them.
  6. Can't have too many '62s on the go Steve. I'm thinking on starting up on my custom version again too. Maybe too many '62 Chryslers on the go by Steves though ??
  7. That crease in the side panels was added to the kit for the A-Team version, which is an early '80s GMC. It wasn't originally on the kit in the '70s. Pretty sure it was added on the real vans in '77, a '76 shouldn't have it.
  8. It's Ford royal blue they used a few years ago. A good friend of mine is the manager at the body shop of a local Ford dealer, he brought me a bunch of partly full touch-up bottles with some leftover paints from jobs they had done. This is one of them. I figured it looked pretty close to '69 Pontiac liberty blue.
  9. Thanks again everyone. I appreciate all the positive comments.
  10. Thanks again everyone. Just want to add that the engine and rad wall stuff is from the Monogram '69 GTO as are the centers of the wheels. The rims are from the Monogram '91 [ish?] Corvette ZR1 turned backwards with the centers dremelled out. Snake's right about the Model King issue having stock decals, thats the kit I used. The rear wing isn't exactly stock though. It's the 3 piece thing that's been in all the reissues of the MPC '70 and '72 GTOs Kind of a custom piece. I put together and made the 2 supports from scratch and kinda waffled on using it but decided to put it on a couple weeks ago.
  11. Thanks guys. The paint is Ford royal blue from about 10 years ago. Sonny, yes, I prefer 1/25 as almost all my kits are that scale. Also I feel the MPC body looks a bit better than the Monogram one.
  12. What a super build !!
  13. Missing Link has it and the taillight lenses
  14. MPC funnycar body, resin interior and modified AMT Chevelle chassis.
  15. She's all done now. I'll post it in "under glass" as soon as I can get a chance to take some pics of it.
  16. I don't know how I missed this build before but I just read through the whole thing and really enjoyed it and learned some new things too. BTW, I recognize the frame you started with, it's from the old MPC "switchers" '32 Ford kits.
  17. The white "wagon wheels" were SUPER popular on vans and trucks when this kit was originally made. So popular to the point that Ford, GM and Dodge started offering versions of them as factory options on their trucks so them not being plated is not "wrong", just an option. In fact, it was more common to see the white ones back then than the chrome ones. Just wish there was some way to add the red and blue pinstripe that they usually had. Just too small for me to do in 1/25 scale.
  18. From reading the threads on here from people building this kit, I understand that there's an interference issue with the dash and windshield, I'm now wondering how this will affect that issue?
  19. The MPC '80 Monte Carlo will get you a correct chassis, not very detailed but correct. The interior would also give you a start on a stock one but still quite a bit of work to change it from Chevy to Pontiac. The small block Chevy engine would be correct for a V8 GP of that vintage and is very nice.
  20. look'n ,,um ,, good? Rob. I'm glad to see those headlights being put to use instead of just sitting in one of my parts boxes forever.
  21. Just a great build. I've seen pics of that 1/1 Elky a few times and it's made me think of doing one like it too but I don't have a kit to do it with. Just love your recreation though. Thought I was still looking at the real truck in the first few pics.
  22. not much to look at really but the front end is now done except for painting. Made some U shaped channel and pinned the "steering uprights" that came in the kit in them then glued them to the chassis plate. Made some tie rods from thin brass to connect it together and topped it off with the lower A arms from an old MPC TransAm kit. Like I said, not much to look at but it is functional.
  23. Lindberg '67 Olds 442. I was really looking forward to this kit when it came out as one of my favorite uncles had a 1/1 '67 Cutlass for almost as long as I could remember. Got the kit home and seen the front end and put it away. Looks more like an early '60s Lincoln front end than a Cutlass. I eventually figured out what was off and how to fix it but the ambition to do it has long since worn off.
