I'm just lucky I checked it, Jeff. Normally I would have painted it separate, then added it, if I were fixing up the engine bay guts, but I want the hood firmly anchored in place when I paint/polish on this one.

Agreed, and it's looking just great so far.

I've never heard of anything other than copper being used, but can't claim with 100% certainty that alloys were never used.

When I go completely stock (like I'll eventually do for a '32 Vicky, '37 Chevy, etc.), I certainly won't use any metallics, and by that time (another year or so) I'll probably have built up some stocks of non-metallic paints for those efforts. Do you describe your painting process anywhere on this site? If so, I'd love to read it. For me, painting the body is the real challenge when doing car models. Most of the rest seems fairly easy, all things considered.

I had one of the Manx kits bookmarked at Model Roundup, but deleted it yesterday as I'm quite sure now that I'll never build one. It certainly reminds me of my youth though, as I built a couple of them way back when.

And here is the aforementioned problem; hood has a substantial gap (around .040 by a quick guesstimate), so I'll need to add .020 strips to both sides of hood to close it up tight. I'll be painting the hood attached (as I'll do with most of my cars), so this gap needs to be resolved before I can proceed.

I love the quality of the body molding, very nice indeed. I have discovered a fairly serious problem (to me anyway) with the hood though, and will post photos later today.

This reminds me that I'd like to do a Rockford trailer,... someday.

Beautiful car. I'm not sure I'd ever want to build a model of it, but the car itself is pure class.

I know a lot of guys don't like those, Steve, but I think they look really cool. My bigger issue is getting good coverage in nooks and crannies, like around the fender/hood interface on a '33 Willys. Spray cans just don't offer the subtle control that seems to be required for those type applications. I take your input very seriously, since I've seen some of your great looking cars.

Thanks for that. I'm just entering the stage where I want to try airbrushing some colors, instead of using spray bombs.

Hard to see how that could happen, when they're obviously handed assemblies, but I've done equally silly stuff on more than one occasion.

I really like the color you're using on this, Steve. I'm going to eventually have to buy some of those paints, I just know it. Do you use their clear coats too?

As it turns out, there was a factory color (Saddle Bronze) that's not a bad match at all to the Root Beer color (close enough anyway), so it won't be as weird as I originally thought. I'll also go with the stock rallye wheels (or whatever they're called), but these bizarre off road tires included in the kit, will definitely need to go into the trash, as they look just ridiculous.

Yep, it seems that some airliners have lost engines due to just ingesting birds, let alone these drones. I have a friend that loves to fly his, but he goes to public parks that are far away from airports.
