  1. It's still available, but whether or not it's still being produced, I have no idea. And glad I could help with the references you wanted. You should be set, references wise.
  2. OK, thanks. I'm already looking into the possibility of one of the newer kits, thanks to a couple of the fine folks here.
  3. While waiting for parts needed to complete some other projects, I started preliminary work on this last night, the AMT '69 GTX that I recently received in a trade. Colors (I think) will be Testors Root Beer metallic and black. I may change my mind on the colors, but for the moment this is what I have in mind.
  4. Nope, I'm certainly not, Rob. I'm sure they'll be popular with some folks, and that's always a good thing I guess. I suppose I may just be just too traditional in my views, but all of the gimmicky stuff added to otherwise classic cars by these type of shops, just seems a waste to me, but that's just me.
  5. I understand, Rob. My use of the term was rather loose at that, but still, what little I've seen them produce, appeals to me in no way whatsoever, much as is the case with the Foosemobiles.
  6. Such a cool car. Man does this take me back,...
  7. Interesting story. I too have wanted to build some tribute models of cars that I've owned, but virtually none of them are available as stock versions, or anywhere near stock.
  8. I may have to pass on the whole idea then, as that's just too steep for me. I'll probably just grab a later kit, and see if I can make it work,... at least they're cheap.
  9. Me neither, Harry. If some of these inevitable Donkey kits are released and they can also be built as stock, great. If not, and can only be built as the Donkeyfied versions, I'll just not buy them, simple as that. As to whether or not it's a wise marketing move, only time will tell I guess.
  10. Thanks to this thread, I find myself sitting here prepping the body of my own '69 GTX. See what you've done?
  11. That might be a better option, but building one would be more of a tribute than just buying one. Still,...
  12. Good grief, I just now noticed the title. I really should pay more attention.
  13. Very nice effect on the wood, I like it.
  14. Now you just need a Woody to go along with it.
  15. That's a great suggestion. I wonder if some diluted PVA would do the same thing?
  16. Sadly, my former pay raises (when they actually occurred) never kept up with inflation. By my guesstimate, after working 14 years for the same company (my fault for staying there, and I'm not happy about it), my overall purchasing power had decreased to roughly 70% of what it had been when I started.
  17. Interesting that you should mention that, Tom. I despise shipping outside of CONUS, so I routinely add 5-10 pounds to shipping weight estimate, just to make sure that I don't get hosed on shipping, which I always do if I rely on the feebay shipping calculator for accuracy.
  18. Thanks so much for all the input, fellas, I really appreciate it. It's odd, but I don't even remember building that kit when I was a kid, but I know for sure that's my box from ages ago. I built dozens and dozens of cars when I was a kid, and kept most (but not all) of the boxes for many years. Question: What would a reasonable amount be to pay for one of these early versions? I saw one recently on feebay for $170 plus, but that seems too steep, especially since I intend to build it.
  19. I'm with you here, Snake. I don't much fancy paying the ridiculous prices that I've seen on some of these early GTO kits, but may end up having to do exactly that.
  20. It may just be me, but I don't fret over interiors one way or the other, as they'll never be seen on my cars anyway (except convertibles of course). That color on the body looks great, I really like that.
  21. This is another kit that is on my "soon to be done" list.
  22. I really like that color.
