  1. Actually, Trumpeter does two or three 1:16 WWII Soviet figures, though none are posed so as to be situated inside the vehicle.
  2. I bought one years ago during a Squadron blowout sale for $20. Sold it years later, and now wish I never had. I saw it as the same type of challenge that the large Revell sailing ships would be;... very time consuming.
  3. You might also want to hunt down a copy of this video, footage of every single Big Boy produced. Not great for details, but still very interesting.
  4. UP 4006 4-8-8-4 Big Boy depicted in the kit, is about two miles south of here. I have a ton of detail shots if you're in need of anything.
  5. Had the same kit, gave it to a neighbor a few months back. Yours looks pretty cool. My favorites were Frankenstein and the Mummy. I still have the Mummy kit here I think.
  6. Michael's is my "go to" store for spotter and liner brushes. Browsing through all of the craft areas often yields some interesting stuff too, items not likely to be had in the LHS's.
  7. This may or may not belong here, I have no idea. My brother found this slide image (taken by my father), of a model I built when I was a kid. I don't recall the manufacturer, but I suspect it came configured this way, as I seldom changed anything. It's one of very few photographs I have of anything I built when I was in my youth. Paint is rough, but It was the best I could do at the time. It's wonderful to reminisce.
  8. Yes it is, but it's the only Century model that I'm aware of. While not exactly like my Century, it's close enough. Getting rally type wheels for it might prove difficult though, I really haven't checked. I really don't want to go diecast for the Pinto, but I suppose it'd be better than nothing.
  9. Saturday, September 12th, St Louis, Mo IPMS Region 5 Convention Holiday Inn - Route 66 10709 Watson Rd, St. Louis, MO 63127 For more info, see site at: Gateway IPMS (The MMVA in St Louis is now affiliated with the Gateway chapter of the IPMS too.) This promises to be a great show, as our annual invitational is usually superb, and the regional will only be bigger. Should I post this to the calendar as well?
  10. And he does them really well.
  11. While I never wrecked my dad's car, I sure burned off a lot of rubber in it, ('66 Pontiac Grand Prix).
  12. Interesting stuff. I was just now recalling the first car I ever owned, a '57 Ford Fairlane with a retractable hardtop. Don't know if I want to do a model of it, but I certainly thought it was cool at the time.
  13. Perhaps, but I don't recall any.
  14. After reflecting on this a bit, there are two more that I'd add, the Lindberg 75 Buick Century, and the AMT 74 Pinto. I owned both cars, and loved them both. Having tribute models of them on my shelves would be truly outstanding. (All of the other cars I've owned in my life, seem to have no corresponding kits, unfortunately.)
  15. Interesting thread I haven't seen much of anything interesting around here in a long while. Winter doesn't help that though. The last cool car I can remember seeing here, was a really nice 30's something or another, couldn't really tell, as it was in an opposing lane in traffic.
  16. Awesome. Thanks, Christian. Once I can find one for a reasonable price (and have the cash), I'll grab one.
  17. Thanks for the input, fellas. I feel a lot more confident now about buying one. Any particular boxing I should look for, or do they all basically contain the same stuff? (That is a mighty peculiar oil filter arrangement; I've never seen anything like that before.)
  18. Nice looking Mustang, Pete.
  19. I have a 359 (old AMT kit), but not the wrecker version. I'll be sure to check this out.
  20. I suspect that I'll begin one (or several) 29, 32, 33 & 34 Fords, as well as at least one 70 Challenger, and perhaps a Willys.
  21. My brother might get a kick out of this; he had a '55 Crown Vic back in the 60's that he still talks about to this day.
  22. Thanks for the input, Greg. Given that I'd probably do this as doors, hood and tailgate closed, the engine becomes more or less irrelevant to me. Just a nice clean '55 on the shelf, that's what I'm after.
