  1. Thanks everyone. Scott, I made the light bar out of sundae spoon handles I got at the dollar store. They are 12 in a pack,3 red, 3blue 3 amber, and 3 yellow. The handles are a consistant size all the way through so that you could easily make 3 light bars the size of the one on the Volvo. I simply used foil tape that you would use for doing duct work around the center. The duct tape is readily available at any hardware store. I've been using it in place of BMF , and it looks great at a fraction of the cost.
  2. Nice clean looking build Mike. I posted this a couple of days ago, but it dissapeared. I wish I could find a kit of a Firebird in the same model year, since I owned the 1:1 for 8 years.
  3. I'm no computer geek by any means, so it's all Greek to me. Do they just gather info on the "art of modelling", or on the forum members as well? I've noticed the Google.com appearing most times that I've been on lately.
  4. Nice clean build Mike. I'd love to find a Firebird kit in the same model year, because I owned the 1:1 car for 8 years.
  5. Sweet build as always Tim.You set the bar for the rest of us.Do you make your own air lines , or use aftermarket?
  6. Not only is this forum improving my modelling skills, it has also forced me to improve my computer skills.I finally figured out how to post some pics of my builds which you can see by clicking on my website. Now all I need to do is upgrade my camera.lol (or is it the photographer?)
  7. This board is growing because it is frequented by a great bunch of knowledgeable people who are respectful of others in their postings.I have looked around on other boards where I thought that some responses were outright rude or borderline rude.I looked at the HH board, and found it almost impossible to follow at times. This is a great place to hang out and I personally have learned a lot from the members here.
  8. Just noticed that the only heading I put on these pics was "Volvo".The red one is obviously a Louisville short hauler. The yellow truck is an old Volvo N-10 kit that I added Home Hardware logos to the doors.(I work for them) The pin for the hood tilt broke when I took it outside to take pics, so I could only get a couple of shots with the hood up as it wouldn't sit right when closed.
  9. Thanks guys.Clean, out of the box I can do.It's the details that you guys are so good at that I am just beginning to try my hand at.
  10. I'm not very computer savvy, so i'm trying to figure out how to PROPERLY post images.I took a few pics out of "my pictures" on my computer and posted them in the truck section of this forum, but when you click on them to see the full image, they're way too big ror the screen. Can anyone give me some pointers on re-sizing the images if that is even possible?
  11. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with those nasty moulded-in exhausts that AMT seems to be so fond of?
  12. fantastic build as usual Tim and thanks for the quick reply on the "Movin' On" question.
  13. i picked up 3 items at the dollar store today that have great potential.first,a 12 pack of long-handled sundae spoons in clear plastic colors(3 red,3 blue,3 amber,3 yellow).they are perfect for making emergency light bars(already tried one).you can get 3 or 4 lights out of 1 handle depending on how big you want them.second,a 3 foot USB cable that when you slice the outer wrap off of it you're left with 4 different color wires perfect for detailing. And lastly,a hobby knife that comes with 5 replacement #11 blades.ALL FOR ONLY A DOLLAR EACH!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. thanks for all the input guys.im sure im going to use them, maybe try the future thing on something from the parts box first.hey John,a fellow nova scotian.where you from exactly?im in lower sackville, just outside of Halifax.
  15. has anyone ever tried rub-on transfers instead of decals?i picked up a package at Michael's with an auto racing theme that i thought would look good on a model and according to the package, they can be used on plastic. Also, could they be clear coated with Future?
