  1. Many of us would love to see these back. Unfortunately, I think the '68 and '69 bodies became the '70, so that's all we're ever going to see. Just look at the area where the front fenders meet the cowl on the '70 body, you'll see that it's the same as on the old '68's and '69's, with no cut lines like it should have. Several casters offer '68 and '69 bodies. I think the trailer was last seen in the MPC '70 Challenger. Still, I think this is a popular enough car that maybe we'll see a new tool. Revell or Moebius could start out with a '68 Super Bee coupe (never done before), change some parts around to offer '68 R/T's and Convertibles, maybe even 500's, and perhaps a Dick Landy drag car or two. They could of course engineer all of these parts (different grilles, interiors, tail panels, hoods, etc.) ahead of time, so that they can offer multiple versions. '69's wouldn't be too much of a stretch from the basic '68 tool.
  2. Thank you! The green and gray cars were built early 90’s. The hoods are MPC, with the centers cut out and replaced with flat plastic. As you can see, the one on the gray car has warped. Those hoods are available in resin now. I have looked at using a spare MPC ‘72 bumper to try to modify it for the Revell kit. I just don’t think that will work. The piece on the Jada car might be closer to fitting. Or maybe somebody could sketch it up in 3D...
  3. I can tell you’re a fan of these cars, like me. I wouldn’t give up hope completely that they won’t reissue the kit at some point, but if it were easy pickings, I think they would have done so by now. I never thought the ‘74 would ever come back- I remember when the old ones got expensive (early 90’s) but lo and behold, they did come back. For that matter, they brought back the ‘78 Dodge pickup this year. I did stump on that one for a long time- and was told by a few different sources that that tool was too far gone, but we did get it back eventually. I think Round 2 does listen, they are very astute when it comes to these releases. They don’t leave any money on the table, they just might not have the resources to do every release they want to at once. I think mostly they have to shuffle around those tooling inserts for the chassis and engine, wheels and bumpers to bring the ‘71 back. I would still be worried about that windshield though. Most of the ones I saw were at least slightly bent there. The ‘87 reissue had supports added to the side windows that the originals didn’t have, so they must have had some idea of that issue back then. You did give me a great idea: I might just hunt down one of those Jada (Dom’s Car) die casts, maybe I could adapt that ‘72 rear bumper to the Revell GTX kit and cast it. Personally, I think the Revell GTX/ Satellite is a MUCH better building experience. The details are much better on those kits. If I had the itch to build a bunch of these, I would just start with the Revell kits. I do have a G machine build in the works using one of these, and replicas of my ‘71’s were based on the Satellite kit. I’m in a posting pics mood: First is my last SSP. Second is my first car. 3,4,5 & 6 are replicas of my first ‘71, and a friend’s, both drivers in the ‘90’s. The last two pics are of a Revell Monogram Satellite I acquired that somebody else did. A beautiful build, I’m just going to correct a few very minor things.
  4. That's the reissue from 1987. If you're looking at these, see if you can see the contents. Many of these came with bad chrome, and in some cases, the bodies had that warp in the windshield area. To me, a good unsealed one is worth more than any sealed one!
  5. Here's my 2 cents. I hate to jump on the "it won't come back" bandwagon, but... ...the MPC '71/ '72 Road Runner body has some issues. Not necessarily with the proportions or the details (although no lower grille ever in these, and the front bumper has a sort of odd flat-ish shape to it), but any of the builts or unbuilts I have ever seen seem to have (at the least), a slight warp to the windshield opening, and at the worst, VERY BAD warping in this area. I think it was just designed very flimsily in this area, much like the MPC '70 GTO. I'm sure when MPC tooled it up, they didn't think that it would still be viable 50 years later, so quality wasn't their first concern. It was last reissued around 1987 by MPC/ERTL, AFTER the '74 was reissued by MPC, so I think Round 2 might have the body, interior and trim somewhere. I think the big problem is that the tool won't produce bodies that won't warp. The '74 doesn't seem to suffer from this as much, but if you look at a lot of those bodies, they're a bit fragile in the upper windshield, too. Also, it does share some tooling (chassis, engine) with the '74 kit, which ALSO seems to share some of these things with the Dodge Monaco cop car. As much as I'd like to see it back, I think the tool is just a mess. And unfortunately, the '71-'72 cars never got as much love as the '68-'70 B Bodies in the 1:1 world, so I don't think we'll see a retool. Like has been mentioned above, builts and even unbuilts of these cars, even the '72's, seem to be still somewhat reasonably priced. Search around a bit and I'm sure one will come up for you soon. I hate to say all of this, especially as I'm a fan of these cars, having owned two of them, but I think this is the reality we face in regards to one of these cars in 1/25. The 1/24 kit that Revell does is widely available and a pretty good representation, too. I would like to see somebody do a '72 rear bumper and grille for that one.
  6. I think I have seen one from this seller on eBay. They are not offering one right now, but keep checking: https://www.ebay.com/sch/hoppersbazaar/m.html?item=163793732632&hash=item2622de0418%3Ag%3AS8gAAOSw9ytdPGx5&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  7. Looks like I see a little 'bird on the white stripes. I think they have the Warner Bros. license - the box spells out "Road Runner" in two words, and, Round 2 had issued the Road Runner cartoon kits (with character figures), as well as the tin edition of this kit with a Road Runner figure recently. The great thing is: each of these comes with decals for two other cars, so, we'll have spares for all of the other older releases that never had them.
  8. The last two releases (the Daisy Duke car and the Special Edition tin) had the dual exhaust/ no catalytic chassis pan, and the correct dashboard. They also had excellent decals sheets with red, white and black stock stripes and multiple engine callout options. I'm assuming that the new release will have the same stuff. The last two releases have gotten pricy on the secondary market, I think mostly because they have the correct parts, the nice decals and truly beautiful boxes. I remember when those orange ones were pricy, it seemed like it took forever for them to finally reissue that kit (early 2000's. I think?). Even those kits from the early 2000's had the wrong dashboards, no stock graphics, and while the box art builds showed Cragar mags, they still only had the '80's modular wheels (along with the stock Rallye wheels). The worst part about that 80's issue (aside from the hard-to-cover orange plastic) was that some of them came with the super-duper dark tinted glass. Kind of cool now, but at the time, not the ticket for building something stock. I want to build one of these like a car I went to look at in the 90's, that I didn't buy, but that I should have: it was a 1974 in Rallye Red, with a 318, no stripes, black bench seat interior and no power steering. The paint was beat, but the car was straight and rust free. It was a numbers Road Runner, not a Satellite. The lack of power steering was why I didn't buy it. I was a big dummy!
  9. No- "Your" expectations were pretty much "Their" expectations, too...
  10. Wow! Very nice!
  11. The car in the pic is a Falcon, that’s a screencap right from the film. Whatever they filmed on, it made the cars look squashed. The link I posted earlier does take you right to a 4 door Falcon kit. It looks like the best one available to me.
  12. True- Moebius could rock this one.
  13. https://www.thepartsbox.com/shop/tpb-resin-kits-and-bodies/xb/xb-aussie-police-pack-decals-available-separatel/ I'm not sure I ever saw a conversion from the Aoshima kit available. I have an old Planet X kit of this one, which is so-so. The one at the link looks MUCH nicer than the one I have. For your money and your trouble, the one at the link from The Parts Box might be the way to go...I have my eye on their Holden HQ for a Nightrider build...
  14. I think if Round 2 could have found that MPC '68 Coronet body and put it out (even as a funny car), they would have by now. I think either the '68 or the '69 was announced by Round 2 about 10 years back, but nothing more came of it. It would be the closest thing to pure gold they could sell at this point! I believe that the '68 body became the '69 and then the '70 Super Bee body, each of these bodies having the same error where the fenders meet the cowl (no break lines), so unless they revise that '70 body heavily, Round 2 won't be doing a '68 any time soon. I have said this before, and I will keep saying it: Revell should revisit the 1/10 master for their '69 Super Bee kit, and engineer a new '68 Super Bee in 1/25 from that body master. The proportions on their '69 are very good, I know of no sources whatsoever for a '68 'Bee in scale, and I think the sales would justify the effort. With a new '68 Coronet tool, they could do Super Bee coupe, R/T hardtop and convertible variants (maybe a 500 Convertible?), so you'd have to buy them all in order to get all of the hood and trim configurations you want (flat hood, bulge hood, Ramcharger, maybe a Six Pack hood, hubcaps, Magnum 500 wheels, full wheelcovers, 383/440 and Hemi engines). That does seem to have been Revell's M.O. until they were sold. The questions now are: 1) are the new owners of Revell interested in such a project and 2) do they have the 1/10 master or drawings they need in order to do it?
  15. I’ll take one of those boxes, please! Oh look- it comes with a grille!
  16. NEATO! 3 GAS PEDALS!!! & the last two engines aren't hitched to anything, so they must be along for the ride just to provide extra noise!!! The black one has a definite "Fury Road" vibe to it when you take the body off. You didn't ask, but I'll say it anyway: don't touch a thing on that black one! The black one is pure Folk Art right there!!!
  17. On a slightly related note, the first set of swap meet Mopar Rallye wheels I ever bought (Mopars at Englishtown, circa 1988) had two really fat old raised white letter tires on them. “Joie Chitwood Revengers”. I had them on my ‘71 Satellite Sebring for about a week. We still laugh about those tires once in awhile. He must have had some merchandizing deal with a tire dealer (Sears? JC Penney’s). I’d love to find photographic evidence of those tires.
  18. Correct. The original release of this kit was the same way. It was the same as the Petty Dart, but with different decals. There was never a real Scamp body offered by AMT in this series...but an industrious modeler could conceivably combine the body of the Dart Swinger with the front clip from either the AMT '71 Duster or '75 stock car to make a Scamp. Neither would be 100% correct, as a '71 Scamp would use the base grille (available in resin), and the '75 grille would have to be replaced with a '73-'74 grille (to make a '73 style car- with the slim rear bumper and later style front clip), but then again, many of these cars that raced were cobbled together, so if you weren't building a straight-up replica, anything goes.
  19. Let me dig around this weekend. IIRC, the Monaco Cop cars came with an AR-15/ M-16 style machine gun, shotgun, rifle and a pistol. I might be able to dig up a stash of some of these (1:25, let's be clear!) along with a gun rack you could mount in the trunk. Whatever I find, I'll send to you for free. I don't need that kind of arsenal LOL! The guns are not necessarily my thing, but definitely the Punisher's thing... I might need to dig that movie up this weekend, too!
  20. That looks great! You added a lot of nice details, too. I thought that was a really good movie that captured the character well - it's just a shame they didn't have a bigger budget. I am going to humbly suggest one thing: in the spirit of the character, the trunk needs something different. The stock spare tire cover & trunk mat just look too nice in there! You should give the trunk insert a stripped out look, see about acquiring the weapons from an MPC/AMT Monaco Police car, and put a small arsenal in there. I might have some spare weapons I could help you out with if you like.
  21. It's "wider than a Rolls Royce"(!) They probably sold 3 or 4 of them in the U.K.., to the people who might have appreciated the "A Clockwork Orange" styling...or maybe to a few U.F.O. -crazy rock stars...
  22. Racking my brains here. I have seen a LOT of things offered in resin. Here is what I would actually buy as kits if done well: '75-'77 Chrysler Cordoba Jensen Interceptor Aston Martin V8 1981-1988 Dodge Pickup Also- this has been covered lots on this forum: any repro parts, such as what the Modelhaus had done, would be welcome. Bumpers, grilles, wheels/ hubcaps, hoods, valences, taillights, steering wheels. It does look like some casters have jumped into the repro parts business a bit, but it would be nice to have a go-to like the Modelhaus used to be.
  23. Now Tom- you probably know as well as I do that almost every slightly distressed '63-'65 Valiant promo & kit out there is missing it's taillights and rear bumper, so, at least for those parts, there is a decent market Still- there would be no reason to repop some parts that were in their catalog...like for instance, AMT '63 Corvette parts, since that kit has been in almost constant production since the '60's. The Modelhaus' catalog did have a few things in there that there seemed to be no real need for.
