Custom Built Trailers?
heepey replied to DailyGrindCustoms's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The larger Galaxy trailer kits come with a second set of ramps that make into a nice flat trailer with the addition of some fenders and wheels. Here's one I made sitting between the Galaxie trailer and the AMT Display case trailer. The bottom of my trailer showing the construction. -
Another van build
heepey replied to heepey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Decals were created using MS Publisher and printed on an HP Photo printer on Testors decal paper. I now need to dirty it up just a little. -
79/80 Jeep Honcho Denim edition.
heepey replied to mangodart's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is a very pretty Jeep. The Jeep Quadra-track full time four wheel drive had both drive shafts coming off the drop side of the transfer case and Revell did a good job of modeling this. On Jeep Wagoneers that used this system the rear differential was offset to the right to line up with the drive shaft. This first system used the Borg-Warner 1339 transfer case from 1973-1979. The round pan shaped bulge on the back of the t-case where one might think the rear drive shaft should go is actually the gear reduction unit for the optional low range. -
This is an installers van based on one of the MPC Dodge van kits. A mock up for ideas. Orange plastic is hard to paint white over. Divider screen so I wouldn't have to detail the interior. A little weathering on the seats. Nearly finished. Needs some more details added, some weathering and then off to the next job.

looking to build "55" Ford
heepey replied to orkybrown's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
AMT '56 Fairlane could be made into a 55 with a change to the grill and side trim. Possibly Modelhaus has a grill done already and a sedan body.- 3 replies

heepey replied to truckaddict's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
FWIW I got the TR Wranglers when WM had them on closeout for $4 ea. The DaisyD Ci (sic) was on clearance for $7. At these prices I bought all there were. -

heepey replied to truckaddict's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Its been a long time since plowboy asked for comparison pictures of these Jeeps but finally here they are. Looking straight down in a side by side comparison view. On the right is the AMT Snap 96 Tahoe, then the diecast Tomb Raider Wrangler build OOB, Next is a Daisy Duke CJ5, last a lifted WWII Jeep. In the front is the 1/27 scale Maisto diecast Wrangler for another comparison. -

History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits

And redo the engine bay so that it is right. -
This is a junk box build that was inspired by the wold of aircraft that I also model. It is not an exact model of a specific truck but a general interpretation of many different custom built vehicles. This is an early build pic. It is now nearly finished.

Thanks for the kind comments This was only possible because of what I got to start with. The Horses came from an Esci kit of a Toyota Bj-44. Next time I get to town I will be looking at the doll house shop for some miniature baskets and bales to go on the roof and maybe a pig and some chickens

This project was started by another builder and passed of to me. I had fun taking his beginning and finishing it. Based on an MPC WWII Jeep it is a representation of the popular Philippine people mover. What I started with.

AMT Open Road Camper
heepey replied to Jzaaijer's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That camper looks good with most any cab from '50-'75. I also have one in process on a '65 Chevy cab. -
1/25 Revell '03 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
heepey replied to truckaddict's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
If the new lit is all plastic that will be great. It is so much easier to modify plastic than metal. I can see a lot of these getting the hood and doors opened. -
1/25 Revell '03 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
heepey replied to truckaddict's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Having built a couple of the TR Rubicons but not actually measured them I would say they are slightly oversize if anything. They are noticeably bigger than the Maisto 1/26 scale Jeep. Here are mine next to some other 1/25 builds. -
Military pickup
heepey replied to heepey's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nick, I think the engine is the stock one with a different front cover and intake system. There are some scratch built bits as well. -
In a group photo with my recently posted Wrangler build. This started as the "Alley Rat" reissue of the Revell Sneaky Pete Chevy pickup. Changed to 4x4 drive train.Wheels and tires came from a toy dump truck. Added some under-hood details and built an engine to resemble a 6.5 diesel with air booster. Troop cover made with tissue soaked with dilute white glue over a brass wire frame.

Border Patrol Wrangler
heepey replied to heepey's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Answers in reverse order - The light bar is part of the TR kit, riveted to the windshield frame, transparent red and blue on the lenses. The cab cover is Kleenex with thinned white glue, painted khaki. The Army pickup - pictures coming right up. -
This is a repaint of a Revell Tomb Raider diecast kit. Stripped and repainted, modified the interior, then added some law enforcement details. The decals are from JBOT and left over from the BP Hummer I did some time ago. Some of its brothers

Jeep Gladiator
heepey replied to Gluhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
+1 ! The grill/headlight area is the main reason my M715 project went back in the box. The proportions on this kit are definitely an issue. If your panels ever get cast that might get my conversion back on the bench. At least the M715 didn't have a grill insert to worry about. -

More photos of the Tree Cop Scout. some added details to the engine bay, never did get the hood to open right. Interior shot with gun rack and other bits. Scratch built Warn winch and bumper Steel wheels, computer printed decals using Testors decal system There are small rust spots in the right places, I think most of these came from the factory with rust
