A picture I saw of a newer car had them in the same place. An ESPN writer answered the same question by saying the teams put them there for easy access and to keep them from rupturing in case they hit the wall. I just wondered if that was a recent practice or a carry over.

Where did they put the battery(ies)? I think now they use a fenderwell-same then?

How did they handle the fuel cells?

Did the chassis builders leave the back part of the stock frame intact and simply skin new floor pans and trunk pans in or did they put in a whole new rear clip as well?

Work slowly progressing. I have the interior tub mostly done, seats are close, now I'm working on the dash. Lots of small parts here..

The bumpers are the hardest thing to get looking right on these cars. They were big and ugly when new and trying to work from pictures is hard to do. I have mede three sets so far and they all look like big, ugly bumpers. Thanks for the comments.

Front pillars line up fine. You have to do a little surgery at the back but it fits fine. You could just section the roof forward of the rear pillars and graft the back in as well.

Picked back up on this project after a summer off. The body is really close (still working on those pesky bumpers) and now I am working on the interior. It is very complicated. The dash and seats are quite complex so it is very time consuming to cut bunches of small plastic pieces to replicate pleats and piping but I hope to get this done and in resin soon.

If you want patterned headliner material and you are near a hobby store that sells sheet plastic, look at the sheets designed to build model railroad buildings. Some of the smaller scale things like bricks or stucco actually look like patterned cloth when you use them in a model car. They certainly have more texture than regular flat sheet plastic.
