  1. Really clean builds, both of them! That blue looks a great match for the 1:1 colour!
  2. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Tom - that sounds great - I had no idea anything like that existed! I'll check the site out, thank you for the welcome
  3. HAHA! Why didn't I think of that!! I wasnt at all happy with the quality of the chrome plating on a lot of the parts - the red styrene was visible through a number of them so into the bleach they go... Meanwhile, onto tyre sanding chores! Don't they look so much better with the shine taken off? Just wondering if I can chuck the tyres into a mini drill so save me sanding them for too many hours
  4. What an inspirational build! Masterful! Love your painting work so far!
  5. Just laying some clear on the body - three mist coats over the course of 15 minutes then a nice heavy wet coat - looks shiny!
  6. Love that detail in the bed - the wood especially looks great! Love the chains too!
  7. Not sure if we've met Rob? Hey tho! Couldn't resist putting the wheels on real quick to see how it'd look.....
  8. That's a gorgeous clean build! Guess they thought it was a good idea to let the fuel ride up front with the driver, back then huh?
  9. Looking forward to seeing a scratchbuilt frame for this come together!
  10. Hey everyone! I'm Jim, I've been lurking on the board for quite some time and check in most days but I finally decided to start posting properly (my first build is here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/109732-red-barons-rod/ ) I've been more of a buyer than a builder to date to be honest, but I'm determined to finish some builds this new year and really get involved in the community. Great to be here!
  11. The concept starts to make a little more sense with the decals in place (couldn't find them, but opened a fresh Red Baron kit to 'borrow' them from and there were two sheets in there!)
  12. So, I had this crazy idea - I LOVE those old Showrod kits and I love me a Deuce coupe - so I figured what would the Red Baron drive if he had a Deuce? I started with this: And a spare Revell Deuce body: The Deuce body fits right over the original Red Baron chassis like a glove! It needed an extension to the frame though, so I cut some frame rails on my vinyl cutting machine, laminated them together and made an extension to the frame: My plan is to use as much of the original Red Baron showrod kit as possible - the wheels, the engine, the front and rear suspension and make a kinda mash-up of the two. Just need to find those decals that I misplaced....
  13. You guys are the best, thank you so much! Bill, RMCo is a GREAT idea, thank you, I'll see what they got! I'd be really interested to see what you come up with too, if you have time! As you correcty state, its kinda hard to grt the perfect match of sizes it seems. I have some AMT heads for a flattie somewhere here, I may see how they look on the Revell block...
  14. Hi guys, I'm researching hard myself but I've not got too much solid info yet - I'm trying to build a 32 with a stock 32 flathead in. I bought the Revell 32 sedan to get the flathead - but it has non-standard heads. Is there a kit with subsitute heads that I could swap in, or is there a better stock flattie that I can grab from somewhere? Looking for 21-bolt flattie Also, any leads on a stock 32 parts, rear axle, front axle, etc wuld be a BIG help - I'm tyring to build a superdetailed stock 3 window Deuce but its a daunting task it seems so far.... Thank you!!!
  15. Hi Art, I was really interested in this build - you really put the art in artisty! Just wondering, how does the size of the engine on this compare to the AMT 23 T Depot Hack kit, if you've ever built this? Close? I've been working on a super-detailed T project and I much prefer this bodystyle to the hack that I've got here - so I'd kinda like to put the engine I've built already in this kit if theyre close enough for government work... Thank you Jim
