Jim, the main reason that I wanted to do the contest this year wasn't to see who could build the greatest truck, but it was to motivate some great builds and generate some more traffic in our truck section which I hoped would also encourage more building. With that being said, your awesome Mack build fulfilled the spirit of the contest even though you were not entered. With five entries already finished, I'm optimistic on how many great builds we will get to see.

Very nice!! I think that you are going in the right direction. You may know this better than me, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the hood in your reference truck has low mount fenders. Your hood from Gary has high mount fenders. From what I've read the cabs on the RS and RL models sit slightly higher than the R. The early model RS and RL models used the regular R models hoods with high mount fenders and the later models had the low mount fenders. So your choice to go with the old cab is spot on to go with your hood, unless I'm mistaken. If I am it won't be the first time.

They are both 1/25 scale. The DM600 though has a little too wide track on the rear that can easily be corrected. Depending on what you want to build with some engineering parts from one kit can be used on the other. I recently combined parts from both kits to build U-Model with too has the off-set cab like the DM but was lighter duty. AS said before the DM has the older steel dash, and flat back cab. The R model has the newer dash with the plus 3 rounded back cab. The DM has heavier suspension and beefier "fishbelly" frame rails. The R has lighter suspension. DM has older style spokes and the has the newer style.

Thanks for the comments everyone. The flex pipe is not a bendy straw and actually isn't flexible. The exhaust from the manifold to the muffler is actually one piece of Evergreen styrene rod. I've been wanting to try this method to see if it would work for a while now and so I finally broke down and tried it. I took Evergreen rod and with heat made my 90 degree bend. I then took a metric die that was loose enough on the rod to slightly cut a spiral pattern and ran the die down the rod almost to the 90 degree bend. I bent the flex portion using slight heat to fit the truck and the finished product greatly resembled the bends of a flex pipe. The clamp covers where the pattern stops and is made from aluminum can and styrene strips with Meng bolts. Here is the left over section of rod before paint. Here is what
