Thanks for the compliment KJ!
Thanks! Fleet trucks are my favorite too!
Thanks! I hope that the real truck will be at the Spencer show this year.
Thanks Jeff!!
I must have been mistaken about seeing 12v's in R700s. I just did a little research and they were very rare. Again, cool project! I'm looking forward to seeing this one!
Very interesting!! You have my attention. I've seen several R700s with 12v-71 Detroits, but I've never seen the extended cowl like this. Cool Project! Can't wait to see more! Looking forward to seeing Gary's hood as well!
Thanks guys!
I hardly ever use AMT hinges because they are designed backward in such a way that if you don't leave a large gap between the cab or hood and the bumper that you will have very little tilt room. I usually use dollhouse door hinges from Hobby Lobby cut in half on almost all hoods and about half the cabovers. On this one the reference pictures led me another way.
Here is the real truck:
Here is the one shown on Dave's website:
So I made a very simple hinge based on these pictures:
I just slide a pin through which makes the cab easy to remove. I did a similar setup on my H-Model Mack and my 7400 White.
Excellent work on a very interesting and unique subject. I've got to say though, I've driven a lot of Jeeps over the years, but I think this one is too scary for me.
