Model Cars Opinion Poll
old-hermit replied to Jairus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think "leave em in the weeds" has already been accomplished. Now all that is nessasary is to go back with the lawn mower. -
I had a Pocher Fiat once. After I found out that the drive chain had to be assembled from individual links that had to be assembled one at a time I sold it. Same for an old 1/12 Harley kit with individual spoke wheels. Guess I'm not that patient.

Model Cars Opinion Poll
old-hermit replied to Jairus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Name your favorite three columns/articles in the order you like them best? # 1 - "What's New" # 2 - Ask G & J # 3 - Show coverage Is there any column you would like to see go away? Dump the "Die Casts"! It's a model builders mag not a die cast collectors mag. Name something you would like to see new? ... or just provide your opinion. I like the mag a lot, Y'all are doing a great job. I'll still buy it no matter what you decide. -
Butchered Pickup

Got a little more done, just waiting on some Webers so I can build an intake manifold. -
Butchered Pickup
old-hermit replied to old-hermit's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I've been working on the engine for this build and wanted to keep it "one of a kind". This is what I came up with, a one off antique airplane style inline six. It's rough but getting there. -

Not much progress to report, but I'm working on it. -
Good start. I'm guessing here, it's 1/16 scale ? heh heh heh.
-
Nice build's and nice pic's.
-
Nice garage and dio Outlaw. Bet they don't get much work done with a flamed fridge full of snacks and a beer keg in the office. PS, look's like me out front with the bucket of KFC. heh heh heh.

Got a new "Woodland Senics" back drop for my dio. Now I have a perfect place to take pics.

Had to call it something and as much as I've cut on this one the title fits. It was an experiment to see if I could chop the top on a 1/8th scale, resin 1943 Willys pick up cab but has taken on a mind of it's own. So far I have chopped the top by 1/2 inch, sectioned the body in height by 1/4 inch, shortened the body in length by 1/4 inch and narrowed the body by 1/2 inch. Also narrowed the hood to match the new body proportions. Don't know where it's going from here but it will definately be one of a kind.

You can swap out the tires from a Big T kit for the WW's and slicks. I think there are some for sale on e bay. Or I have painted WW's on with white liquid shoe polish. It's very flexible when dry.

Opening Doors On The Big Deuce?
old-hermit replied to Pontiac Ed's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
They were designed to be opened if you wanted to Ed. It's not that hard but you have to be very careful glueing and aligning the hinges so they will work properly. The door handle also is designed to be an operable latch. Have patience and do a lot of test fitting before glueing. -
That is just to cool. Keep it up, I'm luvin it.

Very nice work Leif. Your skill definately shows in this build.

old-hermit replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK, you asked. Daily driver, bone stock, 78 Pinto Sedan Delivery, 4cyl, 4 spd, 215000 miles. #2, Inherited this from my oldest son when he blew it up. 85 Camaro, stock except for wheels. #3, Gave this to son #2, 71 GMC Sprint. In the background are my trusty dusty 73 GMC 1/2 ton and my 78 4wd 'burban Heres the rest. Some projects, Some just for parts. -
Heres some candy for your eyes & ears. Hope you like it.

It's not a kit. The body is a resin copy by Bob Hayes from a George Zurowski master. Resin Keith Black Hemi engine from now defunct "Big Scale Dreams" Everything else is scratch built or parts box. Check the build pics in the link in the first post.

1/8 Deuce Trucks
old-hermit replied to old-hermit's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Here's some build pics. Haven't got much else done on it lately. http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...0Scale/Wrecker/ -
Thanks for all the compliments guys. It's been fun doing this. I like to see your's Neal, please post the pics. The tool boxes are Snap-on promos. Got them from evil bay. The pick up body was scratch built by me starting with a resin cowl. The chopped T and delivery I built using a Big T and Big Tub body as a base then added the sides and roof. Here's how I did it pics of all three http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...0Scale/Wrecker/ http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...haser/?start=20 http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...y%20T/?start=20
