Thanks Harry Life and people are gifts to be cherished, or used and abused. WE ALL GET TO CHOOSE . -
In the last couple of months there has been a lot of, what I call, negative thread topics, and an unprecedented level of bad-mouthing each other on this forum. I thought I'd post a positive thread with "HOW GOOD I FEEL ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL HOBBY AND IT'S EVENTS". I'm not a "POLYANNA" kinda person who walks around "LA LA LA EVERYTHING IS SO NICE AND WONDERFUL", because frankly and realisticly life isn't like that. But that being said, for me after years of being at times negative myself, and not being the person I should have been to friends and loved-ones, I decided I wanted to change, and start enjoying more of the life I was missing because of my less than favorable attitude at times. It was nothing more than a "intentional choice" to live my life different. I wanted to be happy and content, and bring that same kind of enjoyment and happiness into others lives too that were close to me. For me this model car building hobby is the greatest hobby in the world - I LOVE IT - and the friends I have in this hobby are all the best. Very upbeat and positive. Always involved in doing something to better there community - me too, in their personal lives. MODEL CONTEST ARE WONDERFUL <img src="http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Sure, once in a great while there is an issue, yeah, sometimes we disagree on choices, I've even seen a few people go "BALLISTIC", but they usually get over themselves eventually and come back, a little more humble. BACK-BITING - SURE, but oh well. ARROGANCE - ABSOLUTELY EGO'S - RAMPANT SOMETIMES CHEATING - ONCE IN A WHILE - BUT THEY GET CAUGHT The focus of the majority of the builders in our area, is to enjoy the hobby and each other. That's the main reason for the contests. Many of us live quite away from each other, and the contests bring us together to swap lies, show off our stuff, AND EAT WAY TOO MUCH (THANK GOODNESS FOR THE HEALTH CLUB I BELONG TOO <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> ) Most of us here have mellowed out over the years, and if a new young "BUCK" with an attitude comes into our club, we just express to him the importance of the "THE ENJOYMENT OF THE HOBBY, AND THAT SHOULD BE HIS FOCUS" too for more satisfaction, and we live that by example, so he can see it in action, but we never criticize him or complain at him, we just nurture him and encourage him. Same for the club meetings - WONDERFULL. Even when there are discussions and differences of opinions we work really hard at respecting each others thoughts. We've had topics get really heated, but no one ever crosses the line to disrespect a members idea's or him personally - MUTUAL RESPECT - IT'S VERY COOL <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> . I'm very thankful also for this forum and even it's imperfections and problems. I hope the regulars here who seem to be generally negative and hard to get along with at times, would at some point see all the goodness and beauty in life there missing out on, and the friendships there not enjoying, and not take this all so seriously and be so uptight. Life's too short, to live it in anger and bitterness - THAT'S JUST SAD <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> .

Hey Bill Thanks for the offer . This is the coupe'/roadster version that I chopped the windshield, filled in the bumper holes front and rear, and lowered the taillights, and lowered tha car. It was a way-fun-project, so I know this will be fun too, just cost more $$$. The kit build shown here was only $5.00 at a junk shop, and it was complete - I LOVE A GOOD DEAL . -

Yeah, both are the enthusiast kits - that's what I wanted. Voodoo Vega is a rare and spendy kit, but when you want it, money doesn't stand in the way. Just ask Harry, he buy's Poscher Kit's. Never spent that much on a single kit, like the Poschers, but I have spent a few grand on a scratch-build. -

Thanks George . The plan is to some time in the future, to restore these back to what they would have been like out of the box. Never seen any of these RENWAL kits ever built for a show, so after their done, I'll take them to the shows for "SHOW AND TELL" . I think that'ed be fun. -
Been searchin' several years for the last of my "MOST WANTED". This last year was especially productive as I found the bulk of them in just the last few month's. Most of the kits I wanted and found were Porsches, Ferrari's and mercedes with a few others thrown in. The last half dozen or so came from a friend in our club, who has between 3 & 4 thousand kits, some are rare specialty kits. Anyhow, here are the KITS I BAGGED <img src="http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> . <img src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh49/treehuggerdave/2009_1108Photobucket10012.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh49/treehuggerdave/2009_1108Photobucket10009.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> Also, Saturday I was at a local model contest/swap meet, and I found these two " '66 Renwal kits" that were built, pretty well, but old and falling apart - SOUNDS LIKE SOME OF US <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . One is the rare Stutz Bearcat, and the other the Mercer. Both were in a bag together, and laying on a table, with a lot of other bagged sets. I asked how much and the guy said $5.00 - for both - and they're complete, except for the motors. So I "SNAGGED UM" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> . <img src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh49/treehuggerdave/2009_1109Photobucket10013.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

For the last couple of years I've been collecting my "HOLY GRAILS". This year has been by far the best finding the bulk of what I've been searching for . Most of the kits have been vintage Porsches, Ferrari's and Mercedes, with a smattering of a few others tossed in for good measure . These are the last two on my list. Both are Fujimi kits. The Ferrari is a re-packaged Fujimi kit by Italeri. The Porsche has 210 pieces, and the Ferrari has 230 pieces.

Cheating in Model Car Contests
E St. Kruiser50 replied to FloridaBoy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Personally, I don't see it as this big-a-deal. Most contests in my area are fairly honest. Yeah, there's been a few cheaters but they've been weeded out, and most everyone here knows who they are when they show up. And yes the judges are usually the same guys year after year, with the same biases, and admit it, 'cause no one's perfect , but WE CHOOSE TO ENJOY EACH OTHER, and put our attitudes on "MR. NICE GUY. I even have my biases too when I judge, and tell everyone, but do my best to be fair to everyone. Most of my building buddies and I agree that when you enter a contest, you're agreeing to their rules and their decisions...END OF DISCUSSION. Besides, why complain and get yourself in a "Dither" "OVER PLASTIC " . KEN, I used to feel the same as you some years ago, but came to the conclusion that "LIFE IS TO SHORT TO REALLY GIVE A RIP THIS MUCH" . I AND MY BUDDIES GO TO HAVE A GOOD TIME, NOT TO WHINE INSESSANTLY OVER CONTESTS RESULTS OR FAIRNESS. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, THIS IS JUST PLASTIC . WE USE THE CONTESTS AS A WAY TO GET TOGETHER, CATCH-UP, AND "EAT" . I have no personal "BEEF" with you Ken, but I think this is the kinda post that continues to keep people stired up over "STUPID TOYZ" and self-centered personal opinions, instead of "JUST BUILDING AND HAVING FUN" . I CAN SEE THE YOUNG GUYS GETTING WORKED UP OVER THINGS LIKE THIS, BUT OLDER GUY'S LIKE US SHOULD BE SO-WAY-PAST THIS THINKING AND ATTITUDE. Yeah, there'll always be cheaters and unfairness, but why do some here continue to focus on the negative and the "GLASS BEING HALF EMPTY" . I discovered that having a generally "PISSY ATTITUDE" about the "LITTLE THINGS OF LIFE", that my over-all QUALITY OF MY LIFE REALLY SUCKED....SO I QUIT IT - LIFE IS EXTREMELY GOOD NOW . I think if we spent more time focusing on the positive, and made our "NUMBER ONE GOAL TO HAVE FUN WITH OUR FRIENDS AND REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A HOBBY"...WE'D ALL BE A LOT HAPPIER . IT SURE DOES WORK FOR MY BUDDIES AND I....BUT WE DO HAVE ANOTHER LIFE BESIDES PLASTIC, AND GET OUR SELF-WORTH FROM ....."WAY MORE MEANINGFULL SOURCES OF VALUE, THAN PLASTIC AND SILLY AWARDS". My 2 cts. -
BEAUTIFUL "PONCHO" RON. My condolances to you and your family on your father's passing. Losing a close loved one is always hard - I'll keep you in my prayers - dave

It's a very old AMT kit, but can be found on ebay periodically. Prices can be reasonable to high depending on the condition, if it's built, and how complete it is.

INCHES OF MERCURY BILL 29 inches of mercury is an almost perfect vacuum. NOW YOU'RE MORE CONFUSED . I was in the vacuum forming industry for nearly 40 years. Besides the guys here that'll help you George, research will help a lot too. GOOGLE "resin casting pumps", and other related topics and you'll be surprised at all the cool info that'll come up. Because I was an engineer, and a research kinda guy ( I love doing research - Information = knowledge), doing this kinda stuff has always been fascinating and fun to me. Good luck on your search . -

CAN YOU POST PICS -
That's really a nice lookin' car Bob It looks like a factory design. The idea, the visual, and the execution are brilliant , but my brain is sorta messed up cause it's not sure how to "CATALOGUE" it - three cars in one??? That'll give them something to ponder when they have to put it in a catagory . Have fun at the show .
