  1. I think your signature speaks for itself. You are truly haunted by styrene........or metal, whatevah......... I don't know if a bottle of thinner in the old tackle box will help though. I can recommend several pharmaceuticals that may be more effective. Feel free to pm me for...........OH LOOK!!! Something shiney!!!!!!!!!
  2. Great pics. Good coverage. First time seeing Google + picture page. Gonna' look into that.
  3. I'm with Tyrone on this. You need to use the body as a master for a clear vacuformed body. Just kidding my friend. You've got more than enough on your plate! Now if I can just get back to my plate.
  4. Amazing Brother Chris. Awesome to watch the process as opposed to the finished frame. The best part of using metal is, it doesn't just look real, it is real. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pick up some Depends for John.
  5. Thanks for the memories!! My first car was a 59 Coronet I bought in 69 for $200.00. Green and white with chrome moons. Ahhhhh. And the push button automatic and swing out bench seats. I would risk everything Danno has to get that dramatic beauty back in my garage.
  6. I am so busted Brad. You caught me on that one. They are under specific instructions to only use the rocket launcher for removing parts from the sprue. Boy, do I feel silly now?
  7. While I will say that I have had positive experiences with Revell and Polar Lights specifically, here's the one issue I have with errors on model kits. There is a company out there that makes "kits" that are virtually error free in my experience. I have built about 40 or so over the last 15 years and have never had a missing part, poor fit or a mistake in the instructions. A company that truly cares about the product they make. I'm certain that they do have a customer service department. No company is perfect, but it's my guess that the majority of their products with a problem are caught before it leaves the factory. It's corkscrew logic for a company to think, "That's okay, we'll fix it when they complain." Some folks don't complain. They simply buy from another source. Thank You LEGO
  8. It's really hard to type when you're rolling on the floor laughing, but I'm doing it anyway. At least I know where the pilot will sit. Let me know if you need more Minions. I have some volunteers.
  9. Progress is progress, no matter how much. Keep at it Billy. Looking fine.
  10. Funny you should ask Michael. Small parts are easy to find. Itty-Bitty parts, on the other hand, not so much. I'm using 00-80 and 00-90 nutz & boltz on the Nomad wheelstander. Some of the bolts are too long. The fix is, thread on a nut for re-threading the damaged end after cutting, cut the bolt, de-burr the bolt, take off the nut. As I was doing the initial sanding wheel grind, the vibration spun the nut off so fast there was no stopping it. I now suspect I have a small black hole under one of the desks, as it has never seen the light of day since. Gravity Sucks.
  11. This looks a little more "Lived In"now Brad, yes, no, maybe? It's very close to right. Still haven't gotten around to the AB booth, but soon.
  12. Metal Modeling Madness at it's finest Brad. I know there's metal and I know it's a model. Where does the madness come from?
  13. Let me help you out with this one Ray. no
  14. Ya' know, back in the olden days (before today) I was always in awe of your skills. Well, now I'm aweSTRUCK !!!! The finish on the seats is amazing. The rear leather covers and straps look real. I mean REAL. Musta' been the Bentley Blower car that honed that skill to perfection. The firewall plate is almost unnoticeable simply because it looks like it belongs there and all you're looking at is the reflection of the impossibly realistic looking engine anyway. That's it for now. Gotta save something for the next update.
  15. That's a whole lotta praise for a guy who got lucky that it worked, but I'll take it Memysel. I'm so happy with it that I think I'll do a permanent mount and lay in a supply of replacement blades. It has a tough time going thru it, but it does so cleanly and accurately. You might have issues trying to go thru anything thicker than roof flashing though. I know I said I'd get some modeling done, but I got blindsided by a Lego Imperial Star Destroyer. I went into TRU to look at the new Star Wars toys and caved in to an old one. Four years ago, I left my last job and had to sell an entire collection of car models and Sci-Fi collectibles. Cost be darned, I want my stuff back. Here's the pics I sent to my GrandBratz.
  16. Thank you Carl and Hello Everybody Else. It's been a week of appointments and distractions. I'm making good progress on the rear springs and about ready to jump on the front. Hang in there. I'll update this weekend for sure.
  17. I knew this was gonna' happen. I love: The tank. The coil. The injector stacks. The plumbing. The everything. That oughta' cover it.
  18. Please tell me it's a 2 door So, you gonna steal the engine outa the Charlie Allen build?
  19. Tim, hard to believe I taught you something. Guess that means you owe me advice now, huh? BTW, I had a talk with Santa. He's on vacay here at an undisclosed casino. He said you might want to shoot your aspirations for that lathe a little lower. I didn't ask for details. Chris, I'm so glad you're back on the Stagecoach. I thought I would be the one playing catch up to you and John. Michael, there's no such thing as bad ice cream. I've dedicated many hours of research on that subject. Also, there's nothing clean about that polishing process. My fingertips looked exactly like the file when I was done. Ewwwwww. I wonder if it means that the parts are now disinfectable? ("Clean work...." )
  20. This might not be the way to save money or time, but there's a ton of silver solder on EvilBay.
  21. There are many things that a good modeler does well. One of those is multi-tasking, being able to step back and re-assess a situation, then make a solid decision on how to resolve it. Okay, that's really three things along with feeling good about those decisions. Fine, four things. I think I made my point about multi-tasking. Now I need to do the dishes, clean the pool and whip out the weed whacker before I get back on my springs while I watch the US Nationals qualifying before the NASCAR race today. Next time we talk, you can teach me how to multi-task.
  22. Thanks a lot folks. I'm happy you're happy. It has occurred to me why modelers who use metal are, the way they are. Good thing I was already insane before I started. I'm almost there on the springs. Today I made all of the parts except for the leaf retainer clips and I'm in the process of drilling the leafs (leaves?). I polished the brackets up a little. The leafs will go au naturale'. The tools are simple. Cut to length. Clamping the piece in a pair of flat nose pliers, I filed the end corners slightly rounded. After I drill the holes, I remove the flash with an X-Acto. I used a bead reamer as a center punch and a hole reamer. Lastly I use a polishing nail file to clean them up. The ice cream stick is to prevent damage to my mat. It heals cuts fine, but it hates drills. Just one pic. I'm mentally drained.
  23. Thanx Jeff. I've been here 2 months now and it's finally starting to feel like home. Brad, I'm trashing it as fast as I can. Gimme a break. I may be old, but I'm slow. Wait......no, that's right.
  24. Soooooo happy to see you back Chris. Nice to see 1: The Vega. 2: You're working on it. 3: The schematic for the frame. 4: The Stagecoach. 5: Most importantly, YOU!!!
